What's your Mega Tek/OCT Mixture & Routine?

I just started using Mega Tek, and I wanted to know:

*What is your mixture? (include measurements if you can)
*What is your routine? (ex. I apply after I co-wash every other day, etc.)

The support thread is gettin pretty long, and I need some ideas/advice on what to try without having to sift thru all the extra comments.

I'll bite


I use it one of two ways..


If I am cowashing for the week, I wash in the, condition, and then apply the megatek/ovation to my wet scalp. I massage in and leave it in until the next day when I rinse and do it all again.

If I am rollersetting.....I wash, condition, and set as usual. That night I apply the megatek/ovation to my scalp with my applicator bottle. I then reapply 2 days later an hour or so before I wash or even the night before.

I have a 50/50 mix of MT and Castor Oil. I wash or cowash 3 times a week and apply it to my scalp only, after washing. When I am lazy, about once a week, I wash apply MT with my fingers to my scalp and let it sit for about 5 minutes. I rinse, then follow with a moisturizing conditioner. Q

To about 2oz of MT, I mix 1/8 teaspoon castor oil, 1/8 teaspoon vitamin e oil, 1/8 teaspoon SAA and 1/4 teaspoon honeyquat.

I apply it nightly to my scalp, and leave it in until I wash/DC, which I usually do twice a week.

2oz will last me about a month, because I'm VERY light fingered with it.

Sorry I don't have specific measurements for you but, I mixed about 2 oz of my coconut/castor oil mix, 1 oz of vitamin e oil, and 7-8 oz of MT in an aplication bottle.

I apply it to my scalp daily right after I wash. I usually add my leave-in's part my hair and apply my mixture. In addition, I have been applying MT to the length of my hair and massaging it onto my scalp in the shower before cowashing. My hair has been responding excellently with this and has not dried out at all. But I think its also because I co-wash and DC VERY often.

I used what I had in my closet to mix my Mega Tek.

I purchased a color applicator bottle from Sally's for 1.99.

I filled the bottle up to the 4oz line with Mega Tek. Then I used Carol's Daughter's Hair Elixir (because of the natural oils as it contains soy oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, essential oil of peppermint, sage and fragrance, plus, I'm on a budget and can't order this oil, and that oil, as I have too many products as it is ).

I used a half an ounce, meaning I filled it up to the 4.5 oz line. Shook it vigorously for 5 minutes off an on (at first I added some olive oil, but it stood on top, so I was able to drain it off without wasting the Mega Tek).

The peppermint in the CD's Hair Elixir gives your scalp a cooling sensation when you apply it to your scalp along with the MT.

How frequent do I use? I apply it morning and at night. Be careful as to not add too much oil. Don't want to walk around with oil dripping down your forehead It's easy for me to apply, because I apply it in between my tracks (sewn in).

Afterwards, I massage it in for 5 minutes so that it can penetrate (morning and at night). Braid my tracks down (I have wet n wavy hair), put a plastic baggy and my satin bonnet and call it a night. I hope this helped.

NOTE - For you ladies who live in Prince George's County, Maryland area, there is a Carol's Daughter's store in Wheaton Plaza Mall. I only go to that mall for the Hair Elixir ONLY.....

I fill an coloring bottle 50% MT and 50% water.

Shake well, spirtz my hair with plain water and apply MT to my scalp and massage in every night. I then seal my hair with a moisturizer and/or light oil.

Either let air dry during the day and baggie at bedtime.

OK being that today is my second day using MT, on day one while still waiting for the MT to arrive I co washed hair,moisturized/oiled and sealed. When it did arrive my hair was dry and I applied 2oz MT,4 drops tea tree/4drops olive oil and applied to scalp using a Q-tip(which worked well for me). Then today I washed,and DCed and applied on wet scalp, (w/ Q tip)moisterized, and sealed w/ oil.

I don't have a mixture...I don't add a thing. The only thing I do is part, apply olive oil on scalp that was parted, then apply either the MT or the OCT. After parting and applying the whole head...I massage for about 15 minutes. Done.

I rinse my hair and scalp daily and then apply OCT to my scalp only. I don't add anything.

I use the OCT mixed w/ a dab of castor oil and emu oil, I cowash every other night and apply after I wash. I leave it in till the next cowash.


I poo weekly and if I remember I will use the ovation shampoo.

I try to use the ovation creme rinse by adding into my DC's and cowashes.

I never apply the OCT to the length of my hair. I am way too cheap. I use ORS hair mayo when my hair "needs" protein.

Wash with garlic poo and CON, and moisturize dc every 3 days. Apply EVOO to MT bottle. I apply leave-in moisturizing conditioner and then apply MT mixture to scalp only every night. Hair is doing well so far .

Lazy, so I c/p from the Mega Tek sticky thread.

Since I started MT ( 1 oz olive oil/1 oz castor oil, 2 oz mega Tek) I use it on my scalp every night, and every 3 days, I wash with diluted garlic poo and deep condition with Alter Ego garlic. Then I put on the Mega Tek to my scalp and smooth my hair back and do a twisted pin up. I only let it down to apply the Mega Tek nightly and right back up it goes. I also moisturize nightly with Mane and Tail Castor or Olive oil creme and put a bit of olive oil to "seal" it in, twist it up, and tie it down with a scarf.

Some days, I go under the water and just wash my hair with water alone when it's not a DC/wash day. When my hair feels dry, I "baggy" with a small plastic bag. I just add my hair cream, oil oil to seal and put the baggy on. My hair is so moist the next day!

Yeah, I use mine straight. My hair doesn't get dried out because I deep condition after every wash. In fact, when I wash my hair and get it wet before I add shampoo, I can feel the megatek rinsing out of my hair and it makes it feel super soft.

I see most of yall are using this as a scalp aid and NOT as a conditioner like the directions state.

When applying to your scalp, what is the consistency? Is this stuff clear or white or creamy that i have to rub it in my scalp and hair so it won't show up??

At $30 a bottle. It would be more economical for me to use as a daily scalp aid than to waste so much of it slathering in on my hair as a conditioner twice a week. I'll go through that bottle in NO time.

My reggie:
-Cowash w/ cheapie condish
-Deep condition w/ heat
-Apply creamy leave-in
-I ALWAYS rollerset
-After i get from under the dryer, i oil my scalp w/ my Black Castor oil/EO Blend
-I wash 2-3 times a week.

Where would this Mega Tek fit in my reggie? TIA!

I always make sure to use EVOO on my scalp prior to putting the OCT or MT on my scalp. I don't have any problems at all....zero problems.

You get a big 16 fl.oz. bottle for the price, and if you use it on your scalp, like grease, it should last a long time. You should do a search for Equine Stores in your area. Save that shipping fee and maybe even get it cheaper. You're in S.C., I KNOW you'll be able to find one. Before you get offended I'm from South Cack-ah-Lacky too

Seriously though , from reading the bottle, I gather that if you want to strenghten your hair, use it like a Protein DC and put it on the hair. But if you want length, add it to the scalp and "mega'ssage". JMO.

It's like a white/off white cream. You don't have to rub it in, but it does help to stimulate the scalp.

I would apply it after oiling your scalp. Being that you rollerset, you will be able to apply it better to your scalp .

THANKS! I'm looking on the net now for cheaper prices. I just dont want to walk around with a white scalp til the stuff melts into my hair so maybe mixing it w/ my black castor oil blend will help.

Aint no horsey stores around my way. You'd think there would from livin in the country. So i gotta search online.
