Thank you INDEED! :yep:

I wonder if there is a way you could do this with a hair steamer or the turbie twist hair steamer method?

I read that you could just put a couple of drops of whatever oil in the part that holds the water. i was going to try it with possibly some neem and peppermint.

I was wondering the same thing. I am getting my first steamer this weekend but i think instead of putting the EO's in the steam water, i am going to put them in my conditioners. I dont want to mess up the steamer :ohwell:

Im exploring using Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle rose for this steam treatment and adding Aloe Vera Juice, Essentials oils, and some honey :lick:. Ill steam for 20 minutes and rinse on cool :locks:

Now that's a smart call. :yep:

I have a face steamer and I put herbs mixed with water in the part that holds water... idk if you want to put this in your hair steamer though... they are pretty expensive... wouldn't want to clog them up or anything. Keep us posted. I'm thinking of doing it with my Ayurvedic herbs in a pot.

Hmmm - what about using a plastic bag?? surrounding the rising steam????

I will try it.
I wish I had 200 bucks for a steamr - but NO - I don't...........:look:

I think you could do that with plain water...
but if you're going to do herbs...
I wouldn't wear the plastic cap...
it would kind of defeat the purpose.
They not cheap you know...
try it with just water if you're
going to do it that way.

If ya'll don't have the specific herbs above...
you can probably use EOs like peppermint & rosemary...
or even honey...
get creative

I'm not sure whether you were referring specifically to herbal steam treatments, but in general there is nothing wrong in wearing a disposable plastic cap, because the cap actually helps to lock in the moisture. When I feel my hair during the treatment, it is very hot from the steam so obviously my hair is still getting the benefits, and I can certainly see the effects when the treatment is finished.

I can't sit under the steamer without a cap, as I just end up with water and/or conditioner running down my face.

another home made steam treatment idea

so simple, and yet I aint seen it nowhere before

now this one I could do

perfect!

Would this work in making a infusion with these herbs and just pouring the liquid into the steamer? I'm tempted to try. I have a herbal rinse mix that I kinda want to use.

I am doing the herbal steam right now and it's so relaxing. I am actually doing this with plain water. I've been under here for about 30 mins and I love it! I am going to try to incorporate this into my regimen.

i wondered about this, instead of using the pot of water what about a humidifier or vaborizer. You know they have the ones that you put the liquid vicks in. Or you can do SJ's steam method with the towel, and soak the towel in peppermint water or something.

I tried so hard, but this just would not work for me. The couch end table heights are too similar, so I had to sit on the floor and sit my pot on a plastic bin (over some cloths of course).

My neck was killing me, and I just couldn't sit long enough to make the steam do much. I tried to put a supportive pillow behind it, but it just didn't work :(
