dittoWhen was the last time you've clarified & chelated your hair?
Nappfrizz, what products are you using? I know everyone swears by shea butter but all that did was sit on my hair. It felt good when I applied it but it dried hard and left my hair with a very weird "hue"and hardly any definition. Then I tried creams and while they were better, they still made my hair hard after making it curl so tight that it could pass for a doormat. Gels? Well, people swear that gels (eg S-Curl gel) helps reduce shrinkage by weighing the coils down a bit so that wash and go's are bouncy. Uhmm...didn't happen to me. I just got sticky icky hair that curled as tightly as possible. Other gels (eg aloe) just left me with stiff dry hair.
So you see, I would've concluded nothing works on my hair, except S-Curl (the spray) did and does. I do agree that clarifying will help. I know when I used to use CON and my hair was coated with *shudder* whatnot from that shampoo, it was hard and just didn't feel right except during the wash. I stopped using CON and made my regimen so simple that I hardly have any build-up and now I have hair that seems to stay moisturized after a CW or DC even w/o me needing to add any other product as a leave-in.
So if you clarify and DC with a moisturizing condition and heat and baggy and your hair still doesn't feel right, perhaps you need to change the product you're using as a moisturizer. Coz as you can see from my own experience, what works for some, didn't work for me.
whats considered light protein? You can try clarifying or chelating to make sure you've gotten rid of all product buildup and that's not the problem.
If that doesn't seem to help, try an ACV as the final step in your wash. The general mixture is 2 tbsp to 2 cups of water. If that doesn't help try either Porosity Control or a light to medium protein treatment.
I've had the most success with protein.
DC for two hours once a week for a month under a heating cap. It's a miracle.
This is what I started doing. I plan on increasing it to three times a week b/c this dryness is driving me bananas.
