Why do people call it texlaxing? it's relaxing!!

What's up with this self-righteous attitude? Even when I was 100% natural, i never tried to make my self look better than someone who had a chemical in their hair. Shoot, that wouldn't seem right thinking I'm better than my "momma, aunts, sister, cousins, great-aunts, great-great grandma..." you get the point.

when I was relax I said I was relax no different. I didn't go natural becos I hated relaxers. I was just too lazy to keep up wit it n I don't think I'm better... a relaxer is a relaxer. whether u leave it on for 5 minures or 20 minutes. what bone straight got to do with anything its still a relaxer

But who's DENYING it's still a relaxer?? I don't understand?
It's a relaxer at a different times in the relaxer chemical process. Once again, saying "relaxed" gives the assumption of that straight hair. TEX-laxed is a RELAXER not left on for that long to give the "relaxed" look...

Look at the word relaxer. RELAX...to be at ease..to lay down. It explains what it does to our hair. Lays down the curl...but a texlaxed head, while HAVING the curls laid down is at a TOTALLY different stage than a person who goes through the entire straightening process for the suggested time. Why is that so hard to grasp?:nono:

wooosaaahhh :needhug: we're just clarifyin what our techniques are. when somebody says relaxed, the first thing you think of is bone straight. its just a board term to better help the others know whats up with your hair.

I dont think anyone is denying its a relaxer because it is!

its just explaining the texture left in the hair

its really not complicated girl!

nobody is denying anything, now if you saw a natural say they were still natural after texlaxing thats one thing

but to say a anyone that says they texlax is denying they used a relaxer to do it by not using the term 'relaxer' is really reaching!

Op, now if people were trying to front as if the curls they got from texlaxing were their own natural hair texture, that'd be one thing. But obviously, saying "texlax" obviously means they had a chemical process done. :yep:

ok so what's the difference between a texturizer and texlexing. y don't they just do the texturizer thing. is it supposed to be milder? I mean texlexing wouldn't u risk messing up and going bone straight

this is where i guess i can understand your confusion. but *my* take on it is, a texturizer only loosens curl what, 20 or 30% maybe 50% max? not enough to really be all that straight. texlaxing, its more towards straighter hair...maybe somebody with more brain cells can clarify

I think it is basically just the level of relaxing that you do to the hair. Texlaxing is one step down from relaxer, and texturizer one step down from texlaxing.

There probably is no real difference in technique, just the curl you leave (looser vs. tighter) I don't know much about texturizers, but I suspect they are simply relaxers packaged in another way and you leave them on for a short period of time? Anyone chime in?

AGREED ... but I think 'some' people only call hair relaxed if its BONE STRAIGHT which is not the case. You're only 'relaxing' you're texture. What I have realized as being the biggest KEY for healthy relaxed hair is NOT to relax it bone straight and having that 'textured' look as what helps hair keeps it elasticity and retain the most length! Kari59..Redhotlala.. to name a few.. both ladies RELAX their hair but their hair has texture which is why it remains long and thick and healthy... TEXLAXING IS RELAXING lol :drunk:

let me break it down for you again since u still dont grasp it.

-the term texlaxed is used to DESCRIBE RELAXED hair that looks wavy/coily when wet. We texlaxers do this to our hair on purpose because we don't want bone straight hair. We use the term to DESCRIBE our hair because texlaxed hair looks different and has it's own set of styling issues that differ from those who choose to relax stick straight.

this is the same concept with a natural saying "i'm 4a" or "i'm 4a/b with a patch of 3c" rather than just simply saying "my hair is NAPPY" or someone saying i'm 3b rather than just saying my hair is "CURLY"

Why do people Use the terms apl, bsl, wl????? to describe their lenght.

Its all for descriptive purposes.

hm, i understand the term but i always felt like it was a cop out. but if i do go back to relaxers...i'll be "texlaxed" :look:

Pretty much. I don't understand why people feel they are ashamed of relaxing and therefore saying "texlaxed" It's descriptive!
