I was going to do this, but I figured the ladies would google, thank you for adding what I was too lazy to add to a thread I started!

good info! :yep:

I am currently using it as a natural weight loss supplement. I take one tbsp in the morning and one in the evening. So far so good!!

which is the best to use, virgin or unrefined? or are those the same thing?

Someone was telling me about coconut oil recently and i was thinking of adding it into my diet because i have dry skin, lupus (an autoimmune disorder), and other stuff it's supposed to help you with. I was also thinking of using it for my hair.

extra virgin and unrefined are what you want to use as refined is when they remove certain properties from the coconut like the smell for example I guess for those persons who are scent sensitive but still want the benefits of the coconut oil. I have both and to be honest while the refined is cheaper, I like the virgin unrefined wayyyyyy wayyyyyy better. It smells and tastes yummy:lick: to me.

i'm with ladylibra on this one...some of you are actually just putting it on a spoon and eating it?! i can get with the cooking part, but...wow.

i will try the hair and skin routes come july though.

I must have alot of toxins, but thats going to change now :yep:

I read in a magazine that it is like the closest thing to breast milk, in terms of like nutrients etc. I haven't tried eating it yet, but I would love to start cooking with it. I'm weird though, since I use it on my hair and skin, I feel like I'm wasting it to cook with it....but I'd feel like I'm wasting an avocado if I was to use it on my hair....I dunno I need to get off this trip.

I was just about to purchase a 32 oz bottle of this stuff:lick:....but I didnt have enough to get the size I wanted so I will have to wait to next week..:ohwell:...but anyways taken internally has a BOAT load of nutrients it also addresses health related diseses!!!.... It is the BEST oil to eat and cook w/....there is a book on it that will just absolutely shock you..:yep: trust me on this...I will never be without it again!!!

I've been using coconut oil for years now.

I recently started adding coconut oil to my green smoothies. Always organic, extra virgin and cold pressed.

yummy

I cannot take this oil, headaches and it made me sick to my stomach and thats with starting out with less than 1/2 a teaspoon

I've been taking CO for 2 weeks internally and I have already seen results! My skin is soft, I don't need to moisturize after I wash my face yet my face and skin is not greasy! It is also helping with my sugar cravings cause they have reduced drastically! My appetite is not as big as it used to be (GREAT) and I am more "regular" (sorry TMI). I was having some problems with an underarm breakout due to deodorant (aluminum based) and I read that coconut oil can be used as deodorant. I taught:look: at first but I gave it a try and within 3 days my underarm area healed so nicely (it usually takes a good week or 2). As for using CO as a deodorant it works! It neutralizes the odor, I asked my SO and BFF to do a sniff test:look:(this after a hot day and exercising etc) and they reported that there was no smell!!! CO works for people with sensitive underarms, this stuff is great I will NEVER be without it!

What I've noticed is that when I take take it consistently say 2 weeks before hand I don't get any menstrual cramps or pains at all:grin:. I missed one month and man it was painful that first day.:wallbash:

I try to get 3tbsps in a day.

You know what? I noticed the same thing too! I didn't get any PMS or crazy mood swings!

I'm mad at everybody that can take this oil and I cant! *pout*

awww, sorry irresistible! Have you tried incorporating it in your food? I spread some on my toast or bake with it, it makes food more flavorful and it's easier than downing it by the spoonful. You could include it in a healthy smoothie or soups perhaps.

I used to take spoonfuls and I tried to get down 5 of them and I almost threw up and never again did I or will I do spoonfuls:lachen:. I have to get creative with it and find ways to mix it with the food.

Yeah I'm gonna have to find other ways to get it in me, but its weird because I was only dipping my finger in it and taking very small amounts, I would say it didnt equal no more than 1/2 a teaspoon, it started with headaches, then after a few days of sticking with it I got sick to my stomach! so I gave up! Frustrating because I was starting with such a small amount

I'm gonna put some in foods and see how I do

I've been taking 3 tablespoons a day, mixed with a glass of water (not cold!) It's helping my weight loss, since it works on metabolism and thyroid issues and my hair finally seems to be a little softer. It's only been 6 weeks, but I'd been on a 6 month plateau and I'm finally losing again.

I have noticed the same thing... no moisturizer needed anymore. I just take 1 capsule at night. I wasn't really taking this supplement seriously... just trying to use up my supply, but now I may replenish. :yep:

I took a spoonful every night for 1 and 1/2 weeks. I don't know why I stopped, I never looked better as far as my skin and my hair got really thick really fast after after an unfortunate fake ponytail thinning incident. I really need to start back, my skins all jacked up now lol my hair is still kinda full but not as full as I want it to be. It was horrid for me at first cause it has no taste, its smells greasy and its like a big clump so I use to have gag reflexes until I decided to hold my nose and intake. That made it SO much easier

While Dr. Mercola suggests that coconut oil is better than olive oil, studies say that coconut oil has a lot of saturated fat which is not good for the heart. So I wouldn't be taking it internally. There are so many other wonderful oils (fish oils) that we can take. Flaxseeds are better than the Flax oils. Of course extra virgin olive oil in cooking, especially at low temperatures and expeller pressed canola oil is good. And untreated virgin palm oil from time to time.

Best,
Almond Eyes

Pls Share the benefits you have experienced!

I just started doing this. But I have to start slow, its giving me a headache!

I was at one point, but Icouldnt anymore, becos i kept gaging, I just felt like i was drinking straight oil, then I tried to mix it in with my smoothies, but it hardned. so I just stopped, supposed to make you lose weight.

yeah its supposed to be good for so many things, but it litterally made me sick, not from the action of taking it, I could handle that, I was only taking like less then 1/2 a tsp , it just made me very sick

I'm not sure if I even want to try again

Might have to just get fresh coconuts or somethin! I dunno
