Hello everyone. Its me again! I havent used direct heat in my hair for 18 days and i hope that helps my hair growth. when I wash my hair and think about using a flat iron I just ask myself"do I have to go anywhere important?" the answer most of the time is no!:nono: Being a college student it is hard to come home during the summer and find a job. So since I dont have anywhere to go, I dont do much with my hair either. I ususally just moisturize it and try to pin it back with a bobby pin and basically dont mess with it all day. I know that hair grows all the time but in the month that you are "averagely supposed to gain an inch of hair" when do you usually notice growth?? Im thinking about getting kinky twists next week to help with my hair growth but i am not sure. I am 4a/b type hair, chin length. I am goin into my 10 week post relaxer. Im even tryin to find out what the best products are for my hair but who got money like that to spend on "just tryin" products and if I try to get a sample god know how long it will take to come in the mail!(3 to4 weeks!!) :nono: I feel like I am doin the right thing by using a protective style in my hair but I am not seeing much growth. I am planning on taking a picture today and then taking a picture in december to see if my hair reallyyyyy grows at a slow pace or not. I even thought about paking vitamins for help increase hair growth.. any suggestions??? just let me know or PM me. I need women that are at chin length to really give me advice on this post. HELP ME!!!!!!!!

Average hair growth is .5 inches a month and six inches a year. So I think you might be expecting too much to happen. I was around chin length when I started on the forums last year and you don't have to use really expensive products to get great results, trust me. You just have to find what works best and stick with it.

HTH.

hi

well i'm not at chin length but i just wanted to chime in with a few things.
1 - try biotin if you want a vitamin for growth
2 - don't expect an inch a month, .5 inches is the 'average'
3 - it's good that you're not messing with your hair much
4 - be patient
5 - i think it's a good idea to take a pic now and a pic in december

what products are u using on your hair?

Yeah, I'm not chin length either, but I just wanted to add:

-BE PATIENT AND TRY TO STOP WATCHING YOUR LENGTH IN THE MIRROR OR STRETCHING YOUR HAIR!
-YOU CAN TRY VITAMINS LIKE VITAMIN B COMPLEX, BIOTIN, MSM, FLAXSEED OIL, SEA KELP, SILICA, ETC TO HELP GROW AND MAINTAIN HEALTHY HAIR... BUT IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST TWO MONTHS BEFORE YOU SEE ANY RESULTS
-BRAIDS,KINKY TWISTS, A WEAVE OR SOME STYLE THAT COVERS YOUR HAIR FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS MAY HELP SO THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR HAIR TOO MUCH FOR A WHILE.
-LOW MANIPULATION IS A GOOD IDEA!
-PERSONALLY, EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS ARE NOT NECESSARY. I HAVE SEEN RESULTS (LENGTH AND CONDITION) IN JUST TWO MONTHS BY SIMPLY WASHING TWICE A WEEK WITH CHEAP AYURVEDA POWDERS, DEEP CONDITIONING AND USING SHEA BUTTER, CARROT OIL AND VATIKA OIL.
-A THREE TO SIX MONTH COMPARISON PIC WILL HELP YOU SEE YOUR PROGRESS AND GIVE YOU MORE MOTIVATION. EVEN IF THE PROGRESS IS NOT AS MUCH AS YOU HOPED FOR, DON'T GIVE UP.
I'M TELLING MYSELF THAT I'M IN THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL. I MAY HAVE SET BACKS, BUT I WILL REACH MY HAIR GOALS!
SET BACKS ARE JUST PART OF THE LEARNING PROCESS.

HAPPY HAIR GROWING!

Please be careful with mistaking protective styles as A WAY TO MAKE YOUR HAIR GROW. That is not the case. They help to protect your ends so that you retain the length you already have. Twists, Braid, bun, Cornrows DO NOT MAKE HAIR GROW. Your hair naturally grows regardless. up to 1/2 and inch a month.

You can use products to boost your growth like vitamins, BT, MN etc. Its all great but if you are not keeping the length what is the sense. What you need to concentrate on the over all HEALTH of your hair. Your hair can be down to you ankles and be unhealthy.

Keep you hair moisturized. Learn that there is a balance between protein and moisture.Sulphates are not good when it comes to Shampoos, Get a Shampoo that says moisturizing like Cream of Nature (green label). Deep condition at least once a week. Remember oil is not moisture, water is. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF WATER it is your friend. You seal in moisture with oil.

Never over do it. Im not a newbie and every day Im learning something new. Finally Im keeping it simple. I wash my hair 5 to 6 days a week. A little leave in, seal with oil. And call it a day. Keep it simple. For now concentrate on health with that you will see length. HHG

oh..lol i know protective style dont make my hair grow. I just feel that i am using the wrong products and i dont know what tolook for whenim shoping for hair products.

you can read up on these forums for tons of info, check the stickies there is so much valuable info there on products/ingredients. how often are you washing?

I think you should find a project or something for the summer so that you don't focus on your hair growing. that's key.

hey hey hey ,
personally when i shop for products i go in with a list of stuff that i know is bad for my hair. in shampoos i avoid sodium laurell sulphates, parabanes,
in moisturizer i make sure the first ingredient is water and i stay away from mineral oil, petroleum, petrolatum, and g__p__ i forget what its actually called but i know it when i see it, when i shop for conditioner i make sure they have natural oils and look for ones with ceramides, and for sealers i look for natural oils and silicone i'm sure the other ladies will chime in with some more stuff to look for and avoid

these are all on my hit list...LOL! check the ingredient list on all of these.

and length will come...i was the same way back in april but now i'm on cruise control. join a challenge to get the support you need...and so that you have something to do with your hair. now instead of looking forward to the end of a month to do a length check, i wait for 3 days to pass so i can cowash or DC. makes time fly.
