An old flame (that I'm hoping will becoming my new flame again...LOL) is coming home for a visit in August (he's in Afghanistan doing contract work). I plan to be DROP-DEAD goregous when he lays eyes on me.

I'd love to be between SL and APL when he gets here. I literally have exactly 2 months in which to accomplish this.

So starting tomorrow I'm back in the gym 5 days a week and I will be hiding my hair and doing protective styling til then...

Any tips to share will be welcomed too...

If anyone wants to join me, I'd be happy to have you!!!!!!
 
I'd love to join you!! I've really been off-track lately with hair and exercise. My shampoos and co-washes have gone from 2-3 times per week to 1 and I used the curling iron and flat iron last week!!! :wallbash::wallbash: I actually just read my newest issue of Oxygen magazine and got all pumped and motivated up by the new exercises for shaping and toning this month. I rode my bike 7 miles yesterday morning and I'm getting all of my "clean eating" foods and schedule together for a fresh start this week. I also have a trip planned to Whole Foods for some salmon to make a great salad this week. So in other words, count me in!!:yep::yep:

If you like, I can share some of the recipes for food and workout tips from July's issue. Let me know.
 
Oooh, I'll join- I am trying to make a lifestyle change and I would love the accountability.

I have some tips in my fotki- I just started my exercise regimen 2 weeks ago and I went from washing every 5-7 days to cowashing every other day!

Here is what I have been doing and using and some pics of how I have been styling my hair up to this point.

The flat ironed pic was just to check my length from using the ovation system all my styles are airdried. HTH.

ETA: If anyone has any tips to get smooth airdrying results after 6 weeks post, PLEASE HELP. My airdry yesterday had me looking BUSTED.

Please count me in. I just had a birthday and decided to get on track. You only have one body, take care of it.
 
Here's what I'm gonna do...loosely based on Pink Skates challenges.
  • 1 hr cardio 5 days a week
  • weights at least 3x a week
  • co-wash 2x weekly
  • DC weekly
  • protective and low-mani styles (even when I get my hair done)
  • 5-8 servings of fruits and veggies
  • 84 oz. water

I would like to join too. I am already in the Fitness Bootcamp Chall. ( I've been slipping on that )I'll commit to cardio 5-6 times a week . Do we have an end date in August?


ETA: also at least 80 ounces of water daily and 2 deep conditionings a week. I'll be on weight watch. I would like to increase my fruits and veggies to at least 3 serv a day. My b-day is at the end of Aug, and I'm hoping to make apl by then. I think I have an inch or 2 to go. (I'm about 11 wks post right now.) I normally hide my hair so this shouldn't be too hard.

I'm bridesmaid at a friend wedding the 30th august:
  • 1 hour or 40 mns of cardio 5 times a week
  • 5 servings of fruit and vegetales a day
  • At least 1,5 litres of water a day
  • Protective style: cornrows, wig.
  • Low manipulation
  • Prepoo or DC, moisture and sealing

Sounds good. I'm in:grin:! I was planning to start my own personal challenge (body sculpting. I'm 6'0" tall 170 lbs but I want to get toned:yep:). I don't know what my exercise regimen will consist of yet:

maybe 3 days/week weight lifting
walking daily (atleast 45 min)
Tae-Bo workout aleast once a week
pre-poo and co-washing 2-3X week
weekly DC

I'm an over-the-road truck driver so I'm really excited about getting routine.

Yup! I'm in! I have already been doing some of these but I need consistency in the exercise/eating area:

~protective style everyday (baggy and 1/2 wig)
~ dc with every cowash or poo
~no flat ironing (except in July for my 1 yr hair anniversary)
~ exercise 5-6 times per week for at least 45 mins of cardio.
~incorporate weight training @ least 3 times a week
~eat healthy with a good protein/carb combo at each meal
~eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies daily (thanks Pinkskates)
~ drink more water
~ NO eating after 7:30 pm
 
My sisters wedding is August and I am trying to hide the hair until then.. I may join yah! Caribgirl and I needed some company on this challenge anyway. :)

I'm gonna do this too (in bold)...I hear you can lose 10-15 lbs. like that. I may push mine to 8 PM though...LOL

I am in!! I start back to school in August, and I want to be fit. My challenge is working out 30-45 min a day, at least 4 days a week. That includes cardio and light-weight lifting. I am juicing it(taking veggies and fruits and putting them in a juicer, and voila!) I want to add supplements, like MSM or something to them. So if you have any ideas!
I plan to wear half wigs until then, and no flat ironing. I flat ironed already 3xs this month.:wallbash: So, I'm laying off of that!

HERE IS WHAT I PLAN ON DOING:

*EXERCISE 4-6 TIMES A WEEK (CARDIO)
*EAT BETWEEN 1100-1550 CALORIES/DAY
*INCORPORATE WEIGHT TRAINING AT LEAST 3x'S A WEEK
*TAKE MY NOURITRESS VITAMINS (TWICE A DAY)
*WASH MY HAIR TWICE A WEEK W/HEAT AND ROLLERSET
*APPLY GROWTH AIDE (EVERYDAY)
*DON'T EAT AFTER 7:00 AND CUT OUT THE DIET SODA (DRINK MORE WATER)

I THINK I COVERED IT ALL....I HOPE I CAN MAKE IT...:grin:

My vits are MSM, B-complex, L-Lysiene, Biotin, Folic Acid.

I'm rocking my half wig and ponytails and up-dos til then. The cardio and MN is going to kick up my growth significantly. I'm excited. I worked out last night for an hour and a half...I passed out when I got home, but I feel better this morning than I've felt in a minute...

That's great!!!! I need all the encouragement I can get. I want to have plenty for him to play in when he comes around...LOL

I'm a little nervous cuz I hear so many stories of it taking fellow LHCFers a year or more to get to APL...I need to be half way there in 2 months...LOL
 
Heck yeah sing me UPPPPPP!!!!!! How bout im in the same boat my husband will be back home in August and i want to get as much length as possible. So i'm all in :grin:

My Regi:

*work out 5-6 days per week. Daily cardio and weights 2-3 times since my goal is toning.
*Eat more fruits and veggies, including my greens powder.
*Drink a min of a gallon of water a day.
* Cut of most refined carbs and eat lean meats. Try to eat more organic foods
* During the summer months wash my hair more, dc, pre-poo, etc.
* Take my vits
* Apply growth aide daily.

I'm currently at APL so lets see if I can reach my first goal of BSL.
 
So how was everyone's first week?

I admit I only went to the gym 3 times, but they were great workouts. I hope to increase my frequency this week.
 
This sounds like a great idea!

Here is my POA (Plan of Action):

Continue working out 7 days a week

Since my hair stays so wet after I work out, using the baggie method and phony tails and buns.

Only use the flat iron when I perm my hair, after letting it air dry.

Co wash every other day to remove the salt and DC every week.
