It seems pretty scientifically sound :scratchch:

I know some craft supply places sell lactic acid b/c it can be used for scrubs and facial peels, but I don't know what percentage to use for hair, OR how safe it is considering that it is an acid. I figure if it's safe for skin, it's probably safe for hair but I need to do more research. :yep:

Please post your results! The coconut milk/lime mix was too messy for me too. :barf:

This interesting. I'm waiting too.

When I did the coconut milk/lime juice mix I added an avocado and was able to apply it with an applicator brush. Also added some honey and EVOO.

hmmm vary interasting.... I have made slow progress in loosening curl with baking soda.

I am inclined to try this is weekend. You can also purchase a poweder form of lactic acid. There's a beer shop down the stree from where I work and I will saunter down there over the lunch hour and check it out again.

I can't wait to hear your results. *pant pant*

Yeah, the powder would probably be a safer bet. Easier to mix to..I didn't want to add too many extra things to the coconut milk/lime deal b/c I was afraid that if I diluted it too much it wouldn't work.

I think the baking soda thing is interesting also.

You know I thought about that too, but I was afraid the lime juice would leave my hair dry. I have moisture issues.:ohwell:

Yeah, I've cracked that nut. I knew it had something to do with protein and acid. I do oranges with coconut milk fat. I leave the coconut milk in the fridge and scoop off the clumps and mix. I do oranges because their acidity level is lower than limes which can be drying. But by gosh Sherlock, we were on the same page. I like coconut milk better. It's plant instead of animal based. Not a vegan, I just feel less hormones or whatnot. You know how they Frankenstein these cows here of late! Tell us what happened! I'm waiting too!

OK, read it and will try it this weekend. The coconut might be too mild. I'll try the ORGANIC HOROMONE FREE sour cream and lime this weekend and will document as usual in the fotki! You sold me!

Easy to mix if you use an organic, full fat brand with no hormones/additives. No waiting overnight for the recipe to sour/build up acid. In the right amounts, drips very little if at all.

oh you meant from the DRIPPING standpoint. i thought you meant... well nevermind i'm a little "dee-dee-deeeeeee" today

just read your review, and you persuaded me to try this! :yep:

Thank you for the review, lgl:drunk:. It was so complete I could almost see every single step (and mis-step:ohwell:) in my mind. You are a fantastic writer, by the way. I'll give this a go as I get further along with my transition, and I'll suggest it to my mom; I think she'll really dig it:yep:. When I read your third to the last sentence, I was relieved to see that somebody else's hair catches an attitude at times:lachen:I thought mine was the only one LOL

OKAY, LADIES!

Here it is!!

It's LONG.

Get some tea, deep condition, I don't know...but please read the whole thing.

It's in sections, WELL SPACED sections, I might add, to make the info load easier to take in, but it is ALL important.

Happy Hair Growing! ^___^

I read it and am soooo in. Thanks Gold! You rock.

I really want to try this but since I am relaxed I would think it might cause damage to the relaxed hair. Do you think you could do this and apply it only to the NG? I think it would be beneficial to those of us who stretch. Also what are the long term effects? Can your hair revert? How long do the results last?

do you have pics of how your hair turned out?

also do you apply the mixture on damp hair after a DC? I wasn't too sure from reading your review. Part of it implied that but it wasn't clearly stated in the directions.

Thanks Gold! That was an excellent review. I have to try this! This is my first transition and my NG is behaving like 4zzzzz, 5zzzzz, etc. I definetely need something strong to tame my NG. I'll try it and let you know how it works for me. Subscribing...:yep:

This was a great review. So, I am relaxed, I wonder also, how this may affect my relaxed hair. Also, I found some powdered coconut milk today in an oriental market. I wonder if that would be a bonus? Any relaxed heads done this before? Please let me know.

I was asking the very same thing a few posts back. I wonder if something like this would be a no-no for relaxed heads considering the fact that the hair is already straightened by another process. Are the results permanent? What are the long term results with this process? I think it would be great to help with NG but what would happen when you got a touch up? :ohwell:

I am sooooo tempted to just go for it, as I have the ingredients right in the fridge. I have been using my sulfur mix and my newgrowth is out of control, in a good way.
