No one said that they didn't feel bad for this little girl. No one said that this doesn't happen to many little girls.

The vast majority of relaxed ladies would NEVER put a relaxer on a child.

The big problem is that it became a natural vs relaxed issue.

People have said that relaxed women don't want to hear the truth.

The truth is even if some women want to relax their children's hair, if the hair is cared for PROPERLY, it's not that big of an issue. It's not the relaxer that's evil.

Do you really think that the child would be much better off even if she was natural? It is easy to see that her guardians don't know how to take care of hair PERIOD.

I say this again... it all boils down to learning how to care for nappy hair period, natural or relaxed.

Of course people are going to get offended if naturals seem like they are trying to:

1) Imply that natural hair is somehow better than relaxed hair (An IDIOTIC way to feel imo... it's just hair)

2) Pressure people to become natural

3) Undermine or underestimate the ability of INFORMED people to make their own decisions.

I'm not saying that any one person did all of this, but the vibe is definitely in this thread.

This is not one of those "pro natural, relaxer bashing" boards. I feel it's important for everyone to be able to be comfortable here and learn and share with each other regardless of how we choose to style our hair.
I really do agree and was never my intention to make anyone feel any of the above or contrary

Nah girl I always take long breaks from the hair board/groups/fotki. I just happened to stick around a little longer than usual this time! what a ride!

lol

I'm cool with this thread now, at first I just didnt get it, when a few special people broke it all down to me then I understood how it was being percieved!

Thank you to the people who did that for me and were already giving me the benefit of the doubt! those that know me and those that didnt! Thank you!

ur welcome...from me anyway. well i hope to get to know u when u co,e back from ur break.

wen it comes to hair and products, it's boils down to one thing........commerce? Who's going to make that money and how are they going to make it?...that's jmo. so it doesnt matter whether a person is relaxed or natural, there's going to always be an argument from both sides of the fences.

after seeing this mutha makes relaxers I'm just too through!!!!

OH PLEASE!... His 'No Lye' relaxer: Keratin Hydroxide Relaxer fortified with Reformation Conditioner...WTF!

OK, like, I'm a qualified Scientist.
Ain't no thing on this earth called Keratin Hydroxide :bat: so what he's created a new element now... so misleading :nono:.
Maybe he means Ca(OH)2!

 :lachen:

this is a damn shame!

I havent seen any jews with balding edges or permanent hair loss, or even breaking damaged hair that wont grow yet :look:

but I suppose they are out there somewhere

Exactly... I want to see all these white and non-black people who straighten and have alopecia and balding edges and thinning hair... I want to see too... They must be hiding.

People are just mad because they hate to see the truth, that is all.

I think its funny how its always the same "Well they aren't doing it properly" statements. Its just like saying you know how to smoke cigarettes properly... Or how to be overweight/obese and healthy. Come on... :look: So what if you think you're doing it right and getting results...

RELAXED OR NATURAL.......JUST TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY WOMEN ON THIS BOARD WITH BEAUTIFUL RELAXED HAIR FOR ME TO CONSIDER IT POISON. DESTRUCTION COMES FROM NOT KNOWING ANY BETTER. WE PROBABLY ALL ARE GUILTY OF SELF DESTRUCTION OF OUR HAIR ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, AT SOMETIME IN OUR LIUES.

The video was one-sided and overly-dramatic.

But those people pulling out the one white / Jewish woman they know with broken off, straightened or slow-growing hair are also wrong.:nono: :spinning:
Pul-lease, we all know we have more processed and jacked up hair than that of any other race, so just confess and address. :yep:

forreal??... maybe it's more obvious on "us" but i categorically refuse to believe that black women have the market cornered on having processed and jacked up hair...

I didn't say we have cornered the market. I said we have *more* of it. It is a matter of scale, and the degree of damage. Our hair is more fragile - it takes a lot less to jack it up, PLUS we do more to it. That's the God's truth.

:lachen::lachen::lachen: if you say so...

some of the comments, also the fact that this subject of relaxers being harmful to hair once again being brought up...i think we all know this by now. it getting boring and kinda offensive to people who relax. its like people are constantly pushing it in our faces that we are damaging our hair so obviously implying that we're dumb for doing it....well this is just the way I see it anyway. I've never understood this hype over being natural and being relaxed anyway. Its just hair and people's choices...if they wanna put it on their childrens hair who are you to judge? you dont know their reasons.

bringing up a subject doesnt make one militant

well at least in my mind it dont!

your right they can do what they want to, but when somone's heart breaks over seeing a child suffer chemical damage thats militant?

I think sometimes people can also be over sensitive to this issue, because the same as most of us know there is damage, most of us know there is healthy thriving relaxed hair too

we've all seen both sides of the coin!

I For one DO NOT come from the stand point that every head of relaxed hair is bad or damaged. my own sister has had hair down her back relaxed for years and years. she just recently went natural. again my neice who I featured here is relaxed, and has beautiful long ass healthy hair and I did not jump down my sister's throat for it! nor judge her!

but dammit I say take care of our children's hair, whatever you do, do it right and dont make them suffer!

*puts the mic down hard*
