I just don't know.

I'm confused.

The answer might be right in front of me, but I don't see it.

What is the right thing to do?

How do i do it?

How do I separte curls that is? Mine always come out frizzy or lose their spirals. Can someone explain to my slow tail how exactly you separate your curls? Do you pull first or something?

I'm one of them folks thangs have to be broken DOWN to.

TIA

start at the roots, gently pull the curl apart with your fingers all the way down to the ends. and i mean gently, like they're made of some super-soft fabric that might rip if someone sneezes in the other room. you might need to re-twirl the ends to help them hold their shape. also make sure your hair is totally dry before you go pulling them apart. if the spirals come loose when you pull the curls apart, you might need a stronger setting lotion (or whatever you use) or you need to set the spirals to be tighter.

that's all the good tips i remember from when i used to rollerset back in the day. hopefully other ladies will add more. :yep:

You could try to using the pointy end of a rattail comb or put some polisher or a light oil (like coconut) on your fingers and gently separate them that way.

Oh yeah and as the poster above said, make absolutely sure your hair is completely dry or you will get the frizz.

I've never tried this, but I read in an old thread, that someone put oil on there finger tips and delicately separate the hair, don't member who said it.

This is what I did when my hair was longer and I rollerset twice a week. I often just separated from mid length to ends. I would lift at the root in order to cover parts.

I also bought that 3 way comb that has the pick at the end of it. I would use that when I wanted to comb through my curls.

thanx. I know I have one of those 3 way combs around here somewhere

I separate my curls with a little oil on my fingers, separating from the roots to ends while twirling it back into a curl. Mine always manages to stay. If you separate from the bottom up, it will be a unseparated nest of a mess. I also don't use a comb unless I'm feathering it and I only was successful when I had neck or shoulder length hair. HTH
