Anyone heard of sealing your deep conditioner with a carrier oil

I do this but I never gave it much thought. I just do it because I know that oil seals moisture. I use a coconut, peppermint (and sometimes rosemary) mix.

So therefore there's no need for leave-ins, moisturiser and then seal? I'm loving the sound of this already:grin:.

I didn't do any of those steps, however every head of hair is different.

I noticed when I did start to add my leave-in the feel of my hair changed so I rinsed it out quickly and proceeded to roll without oil or anything else. I use
end papers w/mesh rollers, the areas where I still use magnetic rollers I simply run the roller over the length and ends several times to make sure everything
is nice and flat. My hair came out light, fluffy and bouncy. I realized that a lot of this stuff simply weighs down 'The Hair'.

I added a little Marula Oil (which is a very, very light oil) to my ends before retiring that night and to my ends only every other day.

I will say this for the state of my hair...I have had no tangles/no breakage/no dry hair...it's been simply amazing.

I am kinda relaxed....

im going to try it tonight or tomorrow.

This did NOT work for me:nono: My hair is tangly, dry and oily. While I can feel conditioner/oil coming off on my hands, my hair feels and behaves like it's dried out. I'm going to stick to just leaving regular conditioner in my hair.

I did this today for the first time. I used ntm mask and EVoo as my sealer oil. Dc'ed under the drier for about 4o or so minutes. Rinsed ran my Jileber through the sections. Than towel dried a little and applied a little more NTm Mask to the 4 sections and resealed with coconut oil. The result I have to let my hair airdry before detangling but once it did and i ran that denman through my hair was soft as butter baby.

This is a keeper i must say it is also good for those days when i run out of Dc and need to stretch the last bit. I also did all this after i used my kenra chelete shampoo so my hair was stripped of previous products and starting with a clean slate. My hair also loves evoo and coconut so this helped. I may use my indian oils that are just sitting around next time.

Thanks to both OP's the one that started this thread and the other thread with the coconut oil video.

Lys...Wish you had a better experience w/this process. I've tried so much stuff recommended on the board which did not work for me so I can truly understand your frustration.

When washing out these oil concoctions I have found that adding straight poo first to the hair/scalp before adding water gets rid of the oil, loosens and breaks it up, hotish water to wash it all away... I rinse for a full 15-20 minutes.

Much success finding your magic bullet...:yep:

I did something similar to this yesterday. I am natural and my hair was so dry. I applied ORS replenishing conditioner to wet hair and then applied EVOO on top of that. I put on a plastic cap and sat with this mixture on my head for a few hours. I then washed with CON shampoo and I put CON conditioner on followed by castor oil. I let that sit until the end of my shower and then rinsed. I used S-curl as my moisturizer. My hair is so soft that I haven't had to add any moisturizer today.

I may have gone overboard with all the conditioning and the oils, but I like the results.:yep:

Okay, I'm slow :spinning: .......

Do you put on the conditioner, rub it in, put oil on top of conditioner, rub it in, then put on a plastic cap?

or

Put on conditioner, rub it in, put oil on top of condish, DON'T rub in, then cover with a cap?

or

Put on conditioner, rub in, cover with plastic cap and proceed to dc. Then before rinsing, rub in some oil?

I make sure that I get condish on every strand/section/roots individually then come back and do the same for oil on each section then oiled the top sections..I do rub the condish in to make sure everything is saturated...the oil well is oil, I do my best...:lachen:

I noticed today that the extra softness I felt was from a final rinse w/distilled water..serca (sp?) is so right about that step..

I also noticed today that the oil one uses makes a big, big difference.

Thanks girl! I can be a simp sometimes

What kind of oils work best? Heavier like castor, lighter like grapeseed or the inbetween evoo? I love JBCO, but won't use it if it won't give me maximum results

tiffers..I used a light oil the first time and hemp seed today. Both worked great, just different outcomes.

I say use the most moisturizing oil you have on hand.

I also use a condish w/no protein or low, low protein

Hope this works out for you

I just thought of something using two different oils may have to do w/the properties of each oil and hence the slight difference I noticed.

Marula Oil (first one) is just a moisturizing oil...Hemp Seed oil ...."Science says that Hemp Seed Oil in hair care adds moisture, volume, elasticity, strength, softness & manageability."

I think I will rotate oils based on what I want to achieve...thanks for that tip to look further...:yep:
