I do this but I never gave it much thought. I just do it because I know that oil seals moisture. I use a coconut, peppermint (and sometimes rosemary) mix.

So therefore there's no need for leave-ins, moisturiser and then seal? I'm loving the sound of this already.
im going to try it tonight or tomorrow.

I did this today for the first time. I used ntm mask and EVoo as my sealer oil. Dc'ed under the drier for about 4o or so minutes. Rinsed ran my Jileber through the sections. Than towel dried a little and applied a little more NTm Mask to the 4 sections and resealed with coconut oil. The result I have to let my hair airdry before detangling but once it did and i ran that denman through my hair was soft as butter baby.
This is a keeper i must say it is also good for those days when i run out of Dc and need to stretch the last bit. I also did all this after i used my kenra chelete shampoo so my hair was stripped of previous products and starting with a clean slate. My hair also loves evoo and coconut so this helped. I may use my indian oils that are just sitting around next time.
Thanks to both OP's the one that started this thread and the other thread with the coconut oil video.
This did NOT work for meMy hair is tangly, dry and oily. While I can feel conditioner/oil coming off on my hands, my hair feels and behaves like it's dried out. I'm going to stick to just leaving regular conditioner in my hair.

Condition-----> oil-------> cap @ Tiffers
Okay, I'm slow.......
Do you put on the conditioner, rub it in, put oil on top of conditioner, rub it in, then put on a plastic cap?
or
Put on conditioner, rub it in, put oil on top of condish, DON'T rub in, then cover with a cap?
or
Put on conditioner, rub in, cover with plastic cap and proceed to dc. Then before rinsing, rub in some oil?
thanks wonderstar. go figure I have been doing this all along![]()
tishee... you still have dry hair????
yep, it has to be the hard water in my area. I am going to purchase another shower filter Saturday and a gallon of distilled water and hopefully that will make a difference.
Condition-----> oil-------> cap @ Tiffers
I make sure that I get condish on every strand/section/roots individually then come back and do the same for oil on each section then oiled the top sections..I do rub the condish in to make sure everything is saturated...the oil well is oil, I do my best...
I noticed today that the extra softness I felt was from a final rinse w/distilled water..serca (sp?) is so right about that step..
I also noticed today that the oil one uses makes a big, big difference.
tiffers..I used a light oil the first time and hemp seed today. Both worked great, just different outcomes.
I say use the most moisturizing oil you have on hand.
I also use a condish w/no protein or low, low protein
Hope this works out for you
update #1:
i just rinsed and my hair seemed to rinse much softer than it usually does.
my hair is still really wet.
will update when it's less wet and then again when it's completely dry.
