So thats my question. I wanna transition but there is no way I am choppin!!! LOL! I probably wouldn't be comfortable choppin until my natural hair was APL straightened which I'm guessing would be 2 yrs. Is it possible to stretch that long? I havent had a relaxer since the end of Jan sometime I think, and I just love my texture. I even chopped off some relaxed ends in the front of my head that I can cover up with my bangs lol :look:

Absolutely! I didn't cut it all off, I just stopped getting relaxers and trimmed the ends until it was all cut off.

I agree its possible, a co-worker of mine did not BC, she trimmed off an inch every 3 months until she was completly natural.

I am currently in my 16th month of transitioning and have absolutely NO plans to BC. I just updated my fotki with transitioning photos if you want to see what my hair looks like.

MissMarie is my all-time favorite long-term transitioner. You should check out her fotki, too :up:

Good luck with your transition and feel free to PM me if you have any questions :)

thank you sooo much!!! :)

Miss Marie is my favorite too.

I'm in month 13. DenverGirl is one of my transition buddies. She helps push me along and help me through the insane moments.

Flawed, It kills me that you don't have an album that I can look in:ohwell: Grrr!

But I see your posts often and I think I remember that you're more of a type 2 or 3 texture. I think you should go check out SouthernTease she is also transitioning (very well) No BC.

Yes it can be accomplished no matter what hair type you have. The main thing you need is patience.

Wow Dak, your hair is beautiful!

my previous transition lasted 19 months. an i ended up with shoulder length natural hair/underarm length stretched after that amount of time. (see my siggy pic)

after a color mishap im transitioning again, but this time i hope to go 3 years. :) to obtain close to underarm length (or a little below) unstretched natural hair.

i do agree MissMarie has a great fokti as well, and shes one of my inspirations for this next long transition. :)

thanks everyone for all ur input!! i think im gonna go ahead and give transitioning a try :yep: i prefer curly hair to straight hair anyway and im just tired of having to deal with texlaxing. :)

I transitioned without a BC and I did so by wearing my hair in braids and twists the entire time. Never trimmed the ends or anything, but I knew all the permed parts were gone when I couldn't get a dang comb through my hair.

I'm a year into my transition. It looks like I'm fully natural, but I still have some textlaxed ends left. I've done mini chops along the way, instead doing one grand BC.

I'm 17.5 months into my transition and plan to go to 2 years. I transitioned (back when I didn't know what transitioning was) for 2.5 years before...I was doing mini chops every other month or so for the first year...but I haven't done one in the last 6 months or so.

it's very possible...and there are some beautiful heads on this board that can show and prove it.

off to check out missmarie

I did. I just stopped getting relaxers and continued growing my hair out. I did'nt know about BC until i came here.
This was many years ago and I'm all natural now. Some broke off as it grew and some I trimmed as needed.

I transitioned without a bc. I just basically stopped relaxing my hair and kept it braided underneath a half wig. My last relaxer was in August of '05. Scissors did not even touch my hair until late '07 and a bigger trim in Jan '08.

There is a transitioner on here into her 3rd year...
I'm almost a year and a half into my transition
and I don't plan to chop nor trim until April 2009
