Wow at you memee and mijah LOL i thought i knew everyone LOL, you guys dont post that much. ETA--WHOA Jynx too! And all of you have under 300 posts LOL, i've been all in pokahantas, sylver2 and them, now time for yall LOL amazing.

I was just thinking that also. I thought I seen everyone's hair on here. With the exception of SherryLove's hair ( yes, I know ya hurr). Hmmmm. Where yall be hiding at? Huh?I got some new fotki's or picture trails or whatever yall got to stalk.

ETA: My bad, I'm slipping. I've seen HoneyLemonDrop's, Izzringi (sp), flowerhair,etc hair but there's definitely some that I have not seen:-/

Me- I cut the sides to chin length in senior year in high school in June 1993. It looked terrible and took approx 2.5 yrs to grow out. The back of my head was probably between mid-back length & waist length.

Before: This is 1.5yrs after I cut it.

After:

I cut a lot of my hair off in 2005. It was just above shoulder length when stretched, I think. But it looked a lot shorter than that with shrinkage. I also had my hair cut above shoulder when I was a teenager...at least the sides were very short. I didn't want it that way. But that's what happens when you let a stylist do whatever she wants with your hair.

your hair grows really fast , why did you cut it in 2005 ?

My hair was very long and thick up until the age of 21. Then i got a super short hair cut. I then let it grow out to shoulder length. I begin to let it go past shoulder around the age of thirty something...

same question sherrylove, what made you decide to cut it then ?

i have been on a hair mission for 17 years but got serious about not letting anyone in my hair for 14-15 years. i had horrible hair care habits and not a clue what i was doing. there were times when it got burnt while pressing and all kinds of drama. also due to bad habits my ends would be like dry straw from time to time and i would just reach behind me and hack em off. maybe 4-6 inches at a time. so my hair journey has been very very slow. that is why i am in jaw dropped amazement when i see/read the result goin on here at LHCF............woweee! now that i have been picking up the good hair habits theres no telling where my hair might go. the feel of it is improved tremendously. it really feels like hair now! i went into this whole long explanation because with all the super hair growers on here i think sometimes people might feel discouraged if their hair isnt growing as fast as some. i want the slow growers to know that it takes time, but it IS possible. this hair has been almost a lifelong project for me.

Okay I am pretty optimistic on this forum for just about everything, but looking at all yall's (yes I said yall's) heads I won't reach these goals for another 10 years unstretched that is. That is not encouraging at all for me, so I am just going to back right out of this thread and definitely not subscribe to it. Shoot and darn!

My hair shrinkage factor has me leaving just as quickly as I came in here. I am hoping to and looking forward to one day being an inspiration to all those 4b naturals who wonder if our type of hair can grow to hip, waist, tailbone and classic lengths.

i guess i was just moved to make a change with my hair at that time in addition to a hairstylist convincing me to cut it. well, little did i know that having my hair so short would be such high maintenance; i will never cut my hair that short again....lol

yes ive been hiding on lhc for almost 2 years........i was watching the long hair ladies at the time.since then ive started taking care of my own hair better.my hair grows pretty fast i think,or at least one side grows pretty fast.i think mainly because i keep my hair moisterized and i massage my scalp all through out the day......habbit for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i do it when i am letting it dry........its like diana ross, i be using my whole arm to flip this mess.....lol...........and my husband always asks "why are you holding you neck like that?"

My hair isn't so long anymore. I cut about 6-7 inches about 2 months ago. I'm no longer at the bottom of my butt but somewhere around tailbone I guess. It's grown a lot since the cut but I'm cutting it back to waist. I don't plan on letting it grow longer than waist anymore. It really wasn't working for me to have my hair that long. I don't like to wear it straight at that length. And seeing that I like variety I think waist is perfect for me.

Thank you Sunbasque- With my old regimen in the after pic from 1995 I was a huge product junkie- I have alot of staples. I'd wash once a week, pre-poo, poo, condition w/heat (& peanut oil or soft & beatiful oil since discontinued), then use leave-in, oil, & bun.
(current regimen- tea rinse, poo bar or CON, condition w/heat sealed with Brahmi oil, joico or Bumble & bumble leave-in, vatika, parachute, seal with castor oil.)

I used a lot of different products back then (some discontinued or the ingredients have change):
pre-poo- homemade concotion of anything
poo- CON, Goldwell Kerasilk, Clairol Herb Ess, Allways Natural
cond- Dark & Lovely cholesterol, Wanakee, Revlon Arosci, Mizani, Tresemme, Generic Joico & Nexxus
leave-in- Bumble & bumble, wanakee, redken, ???
oil- evoo, African Royale Hot 6, Kemi
greases- Wanakee, Allways Supergro, Carols Daughter (hhb & mimosa hair honey), Dr E.B. Wright, Revlon hairdressings, Barry Fletcher
Gel- Barry Fletcher, Fantasia I.C., Wanakee

Good call. Feria damaged my hair really badly years ago. It actually made it shed and break. My hair was coming out by the hand full everyday.

I had my hair cut to about 1 inch before. Kept it like that for 2 years.

I was relaxed in the pics that's why the length showed, and it was thick because I was young.

I'm 3c/4a and my shrinkage is shoulder/midback length depending on how I dry it. If I airdry loose it's shoulder to brastrap; if I dry it in a bun (wrapped clockwise) it's midback, and if I dry it in a bun wrapped counterclockwise then it's waist.

Thank God I found Joico K pak reconstructor ( the old formula was really great.) I had to cut my hair and baby it for a few months. I have never used a permanent dye since.

i was lurking at some other long hair care sites.the international hair care site. these woman hace classic length and beyond.......ypu know what i notice...they keep their hair pined up.is that a secret to gaining classic lengths?im really wondering because we have already broken the myth that woman if color cant grow extremly long hair.i think our hair can grow just as long to.ladies,what do you think?

I agree with Mija. Don't get discourage mscocoaface. I don't see it that way. I see it as my hair being WL a couple of years from now. I was slightly above SL when I joined 12/05. I am now BS a couple of years later. So see these wonderful heads as encouragement NOT discouragement. They put in work to get that length. (meaning most of them have been growing their hair longer than most of us) We'll be their lengths too with patience and consistency {{{hugs}}}
