I am!

next week (May 1st) I will be getting my hair braided. I think I will leave it in for 2 months. I will be using the marley kinky hair as usual but I'm getting black hair this time. (I'm on a black hair phase)

I normally get good growth with braids so I expect no less this time.

I will be putting individual in May 1st as well. Last week I just put kinky twist in my daughter's hair. I plan on leaving those in until the end of school and redoing them. I won't retouch her hair until school starts again. If "we" make it she will have gone on a 6 month stretch the longest so far. Wish me luck.

I want to, but it depends on my funds. I can't find a braider that charges under $185 (not including hair)

I do so much better when I am not messing with my hair.

I'm braiding for summer :yep: ...

...and probably fall, and winter, and spring. Kinda like I did last year. :p

I did get a new afro puff though that I'm dying to wear, so I may just give up my braids for a spell and practice protective puff styling. But that's very unlikely coz I'm a sucker for braids.

I have a job interview coming up in 2 weeks, and then will likely get my braids right after that. I want to keep them in for at LEAST 4 weeks... so hopefully that works out. Just some basic cornrows, nothing too fancy or expensive. :yep:

You don't have friends with cousins? lol
yea Kay.Dee.....what she said^^^^ I spend $40 max on braiding hair. A friend does it for me and she charges $20......sometimes I give her $25 or $30 and I buy the hair

ok you love braids

I have sworn off braids because they are no good for my hairline.

well Ive sworn off micros for the same reason

I still get big cornrows & goddess braids & such.. but I think Im gonna leave em alone for the summer..

I think Im gonna be a hair rebel this summer & do nothing but wash & go's and not worry about what folks at church & work think ( also cuz braids dont look cute and often dont fit under my church lady hats)

I'm thinking about it. I usually do braidouts and wash n go's in the summer. My hair does much better when I leave it alone.

I have to try and find a braider here. The last time I went looking they tried to charge me over a hundred for cornrows.

How do you all do braids or kinky twist? :perplexed My hair has been ruined of 4 wks of braids and 2 weeks of kinky twists. I have to start my hair journey all over again:ohwell:

I've already been in twists for like the last month, I usually start redoing my braids at about 4 weeks just around the edges so they look better, so that my hair doesn't twist, and so those lint ball things don't make me bald. But with these twists I'm redoing my entire head over cuz there seems to be a lot more matting than what I normally get with braids.

I'm considering but I also want to enjoy my braidouts or twistouts. I haven't done them all year so...time to let lose!

the braids do my hair fine

I had a lil hairline issue last yr during my transitioning phase but my hairline has since filled in and I'm still braiding.

I love synthetic kinky twist! So more than likely I will be getting them in about a month.

How do you wash your twists? How do they compare to Braids as far a durability?

I like the way the look, but I've always gotten braids b/c they don't mat at the top, and I can wash them easily while keeping them pretty presentable.

TIA

I plan to braid up/twist up after graduation...so May 26th. I will keep them in till the end of July; with refreshers around the hairline every three weeks.

Best thing is to learn how to do them yourself so that you can do them with the TLC only you can give yourself and also be able to redo them as soon as they need it so you don't get matting at the base or painful pulling as they dangle loosely, which could lead to the braid falling off taking your hair with it.

I'll be braiding or twisting for the rest of the year. I have kinky twists now and I thought I'd keep them in for two months but they'll likely be gone by May 1. I think I'll do cornrows for May and back to the twists for June.

Is it the braids or type of hair used that causes the thinning? Funny thing is I have never had an issue with cornrows only individual braids/twists. That is a great suggestion, but honestly I do not think I have the patience to do them myself.

I got me some braids, for free... I did them myself!!! $7 for the hair from sally's, 8- 10 hours braiding, and pow I got me some braids for about 2 weeks.. I graduate from college in 2 weeks, so I might keep them in, all depends on how they look the day before... but I love braiding my own hair, its simple, the more you do it the better you get. Plus I think I might use braids to transition from triple processed hair, to natural... IDK but I'm all for braids

-I spray once a day or every other day with water and braid spray, seal with oil sheen
-wash once every two weeks, and deep condition
