okay i use heat 4x a month since i wash every week. I only do it to straighten my roots but I wil occasionally go over my entire strand. But i didn't think 4x a month would be such a big deal. i don't neglect moisturizing my ends either...so idk anymore.
but as for ur current situation. I think that last cut/trim looked great!....do u think that it will benefit in the future, or is ur hair not holding up?

I believe that your thoughts/beliefs do shape your results. And if you are focusing on the negatives of your hair - that is what it shows you - the negatives. But if you focus on the positive, on the other hand - it excels with leaps and bounds.
You just have to find the things that you really enjoy about your hair, and focus on that!
Right now, me & my hair are in a lovers groove .....![]()
I'm not. And I think that's what's preventing it from growing. let me explain. In the past when I was content with my hair, it suprised me by growing and did well but when it was at it's worst and all I did was focus on the breakage and the damage my hair stood at a standstill.
Right now, i'm underprocessed (I could pass for a natural and I'm not exaggerating). My nape is completly broken off. It's growing back but verrrryyy slowly. I'm constanly looking at other females, wishing I had their hair. I need to break this habit because my damage could be much worse.
I really believe not being happy with our hair right now can prevent it from growing just like too much heat, no moisture, etc...
Just something I was thinking about.
Loca....I think we may be hair cousins. I've read several of your posts and it seems as our hair has similar properties (coarse and non porous).I'm not. Loca I expect this from someone who is new to this site. You've been here a long time and I'm surprised that you are experiencing things like broken nape and just damaged hair in general. I've tried to follow suggestion posted here on the site and that's why my hair is making progress. I'm not totally happy with my hair but I'm content at the moment. It's longer than it has ever been and it due to me being consistent with my regime and stretch and neutralize my hair.. I don't have any suggestions to give you but I do want to say you can stay the course and start trusting some of the things some of the girls here say

I must say that I'm not very happy with my hair. I get bits of hair every time I touch it along with knots and tangles. Plus, I feel that my hair is not long enough to do the styles I'd like to wear. However, it grows well and I don't have a problem with shedding. My goal is to get my hair between APL and BSL and I'll be content and satisfied.
you have had great progressNot really, it growing but thinner ...
Girl, the broken nape is from the last stylist who didn't wash out the relaxer properly. I can tell by the way it broke off.
All of my setbacks have been from stylists. I've done everything right, low heat, daily moisture, weekly DC, protective styling every day. I follow the advice here pretty much to a T. The only thing that I do slack in is my diet
Girl I'd just be satisfied with shoulder at this point.
yes my hair is very non porous and coarse. It's a headache sometimes. I've been on this site for 3 years and I've never met anyone with hair like mine. I used to claim 4b, but all the 4b's had a looser texture than me. IRL, I don't think I've met many people with my hair type either. My hair is very tightly coiled plus it's coarse so it's a struggle.
