Be honest, are you really happy with your hair right now?

I'm not. And I think that's what's preventing it from growing. let me explain. In the past when I was content with my hair, it suprised me by growing and did well but when it was at it's worst and all I did was focus on the breakage and the damage my hair stood at a standstill.

Right now, i'm underprocessed (I could pass for a natural and I'm not exaggerating). My nape is completly broken off. It's growing back but verrrryyy slowly. I'm constanly looking at other females, wishing I had their hair. I need to break this habit because my damage could be much worse.

I really believe not being happy with our hair right now can prevent it from growing just like too much heat, no moisture, etc...

Just something I was thinking about.

I was feeling so-so about my hair for a few weeks. I'm sure your hair will be thriving soon.

:yep:

I believe that your thoughts/beliefs do shape your results. And if you are focusing on the negatives of your hair - that is what it shows you - the negatives. But if you focus on the positive, on the other hand - it excels with leaps and bounds.

:bighug: You just have to find the things that you really enjoy about your hair, and focus on that!

Right now, me & my hair are in a lovers groove ..... :love3:

Right now I am happy with my hair. However, I have a love/hate thing with my hair so next month I'll probably be feeling something else.

Thanks girl. It's just so discoyuraging because I've damaged parts from over a year ago, now trying to grow back. Right now all I would like is a healthy SL.

i am a b s o l u t e l y NOT satisfied with my hair right now!....

#1) its taking waaaay too long to grow. Its been 6 months since my starting point and I'm getting the kind of growth girls get at only 3 months:wallbash:

#2) splits galore. Its soooo hard to keep up with them when ur hair is uneven. I know my pics make it harder to see, but its really a pain

so basically, i've just been in my 'waiting phase'. I'm still taking care of it, but I've pretty much thrown in the towel of anticipating big results after a stretch.:ohwell:

Thanks :) I have to admit I dont get much breakage anymore. That's always something to be happy about :)

I understand. I had to get a major cut last summer to cut off some over processed ends that didn't get cut off when the last of the relaxer got cut off. Some days I do wonder how long my hair would be now without that cut. But I know that my hair is better off since it was cut.

Don't regret cutting out damage. Just resolve not to make the same mistakes again.

ETA: Just consider the pics of your damaged hair as the before pics for a dramatic turn around later on.

Poochie, does it make you feel better if I told you i wish i had your hair right now. I'm not even joking.

Do you use heat? i know when i was using lots of heat I had splits galore!

I'm SUPER happy with everything (health, thickness, texture, moisture-level, lack of breakage) except the length. I'm waiting to reach that goal I've never reach before in my life!

I'm def not happy with my hair. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a million s times better than two years ago. It's not dry, it has swang, and it's very s hiny/moisturized. It's just the length that's killin me!! I think I want length but don't want to do work! so maybe i'm unhappy with myself

I'm on the fence. I really want to get more length.

But as far as texture and health. I'm happy with the progress I've made :yep:

Loca, dont worry, it'll happen for u.

A lil patience and a disciplined regime will get u there in no time.

Yup-sir-ee.....

:locks:

Not really. :ohwell: I shed A LOT and my hair looks way shorter and thinner since my last touch up. I hate the fact that I'm constantly cleaning hair from my bathroom sink and floor. :wallbash:

okay i use heat 4x a month since i wash every week. I only do it to straighten my roots but I wil occasionally go over my entire strand. But i didn't think 4x a month would be such a big deal:nono:. i don't neglect moisturizing my ends either...so idk anymore.

but as for ur current situation. I think that last cut/trim looked great!....do u think that it will benefit in the future, or is ur hair not holding up?

I swear, I find a way to work this into every thread, but since cowashing ..:yep:

I used to deal with newgrowth by avoiding it, or working against it [heat]

but I love this! A fun, easy, enjoyable cowash .. followed by a protective bun .. it's so effortless.

My hair is almost on autopilot.

Almost.

Now all I have to do is sit back and enjoy the journey.

i can honestly say that i am very, very happy with the ways things are going.

My prayer is for everyone going through troubling times to be able to keep the faith and don't ever give up. Better days will be here soon.

I adore my hair right now! It looks so full and shiny. I gave up length for style. This past weekend I cut off 3-4 inches of hair in an effort to have better styling options. I'm very pleased. :yep:

More excitement: it frames my face so well! I've been feeling more confident about my appearance now that my hair looks like a cut that somebody did on purpose. Growing out layers is hard.

Nope. I was okay until a week or so ago. I started getting restless. I had a HORRIBLE day yesterday detangling my hair. My hair started dreading up in some spots. It was just terrible. I do LOVE my thickness and the length I have gained even though I lost some of it yesterday. I think I am just going to weave it up and leave the half wigs alone for a bit.

Yes I am honestly happy with my hair. I agree with the OP and others that negative thoughts/speech will manifest in your experiences.

Eh, it's a'ight. :ohwell: I'm pretty fickle so some days i love it more than other days. I think the way you think about your hair manifests itself in how you treat it, so you may be right that when you think poorly of your hair, it gets in poorer condition.

I am happy with my hair to the extent that it seems healthier and that there is much less breakage, if any at all. I like my texture and the thickness of it. The only thing I am not too happy about is how uneven it is. I have a ton of layers. It makes my ends appear thin and see through. But, I am just focusing on being patient and growing out the layers. I just try to give it the TLC it needs and wait for progress.

Ehhhh! I can't stand my hair right now...I wish it would hurry up and grow....I have been on my hair journey for 2 years now and this is ridiculous..I'm just sayin..

I am happy with my hair. However, for the past few days I have been bored with it. It is in tiny braids and pulled back into a bun. On the other hand, I am excited. My braids are even longer when shrunken and they make my shoulders warm. The boyfriend said he noticed too. I haven't worn box braids in a long time...I think my hair is growing!

For those who are not happy, I just want to say, that I am looking at the avatars and I see beautiful hair. You can do it!

I'm not because I had a bit of a set back last night. I washed and did an Aphogee in preparation for my relaxer the end of the week and my hair was so tangled at the roots because I haven't been combing it so much the last week. It's like my roots dreded up.

It took so much time getting the knots out and I lost some hair. I tried not to rip through it and be gentle but it was very frustrating. I was hoping to make BSL with this touch up but now I'm not too sure I will be.

I'm happy with the length and the fact that I do very little to it (compared to some of the regimens I've seen here--ya'll got patience) and it still grows. I'd be totally elated, though, if my hair was thicker and fuller. I've been wearing it the same way for the longest (ponytail or pulled back), which I think is one of the culprits. Stress is the other. Not over my hair, but other things.
