In hair purgatory
When i have a good moisturizer i feel as if i dont need to re moisturize for at least 3 days no spritz or anything. how about you? Im very heavy handed with it i wonder if that makes a difference. please give me your opinion as well as how much moisturizer you use per session.

My hair is very coarse and prone to dryness. So I need to moisturize at least once a day. Some people dont feel they need to moisturize often if they use a good DC, but when I DC my hair still comes out very dry and I rely on the daily moisturizer:ohwell: I've had dryness issues all my life.

I usually moisturize and seal every day or every couple of days. I'm heavy handed too, but my hair just loves moisture and avocado butter, so it drinks it up.

Well with me trying different things and such. I feel you do NOT have to moisturize everyday. It's really what works for you, if your hair needs it, then go for it, if not, then it's not really necessary in my opinion.

Take for example, for me, I can co-wash my hair and put some smooth n shine curl activator(1/4 a palm size) on my hair and seal, I wouldn't have to add more or re-moisturize it at all for the rest of the day, and if I'm feeling lazy, I can go and do a baggy on my head. Once I take it off the next day, instant pick me up, give my hair some air, since it's already drowning in moisture from the baggy! And it will be just fine.

Currently I give my hair moisture in some form or another (co-wash everyday) and I just love the way it feels.

You can only listen to your hair to know what it really needs and go from there, but other than that, if you feel it doesn't need the extra moisturizing properties, then it probably doesn't.

I c/o wash every single day so I know my hair is being moisturized. I don't find it necessary to moisturize, but I still "seal"... However, when I am blowdrying my hair or waiting days between washing, moisturizing is a necessity.

I've been co-washing every day for the past few weeks and I haven't felt like I needed to moisturize my hair daily. But when I was washing/co-washing my hair 2-3 days a week, I moisturized my hair every day, sometimes twice a day. I used a quarter size amount of moisturizer each time.

For it all depends on the season. In the colder months, I usually moisturize daily. In the warmer months, I find that I dont have to do it daily, maybe ever other day or so.

I moisturize daily. I feel I need too. I wont like how my hair feels and looks by the middle of the next day if I tried every other day. Im getting better at not being so heavy handed though.

Also wanted to add that I stretch (lately 16 weeks) and am texlaxed and my moisturizing regimen works great for me. I think it helps guard against any dryness or combing/detangling problems. Things just flow so much more smoother when I stay on top of my moisturizing. My reg has been so good to me... Im married to it.

I'm 4a4b and I don't HAVE to moisturize daily as long as I am not touching my hair. I usually co-wash, moisturized and seal daily to stay on my routine and avoid mistakes.

Before I started daily co-washing, I did it twice a day.

Now I do it once a day, because I co-wash at night, so in the morning I re-do it before I put it up in a bun on dry hair.

If you are natural and color treated it definately is...I don't use a lot though, sometimes, I alternate between using a creamy moisturizer and a wet conditioner:yep:

I think it depends on the person. I don't have to moisturize daily. To be honest, I moisturize every 3-5 days. I am medium-handed with the moisturizer. :grinwink:

Sometimes instead of moisturizing daily I just spritz my hair with water to "reactivate" the products already in my hair. I might rub a little something through my ends if they feel dry. I find that re-applying a lot of product daily can make my hair feel greasy faster and I end up washing more often.

I moisturize daily with a spritz, and I can definitely tell the difference in my hair at the end of the day if I skip a day, and the end of the week (when I redo my hair) if I skip more than one day.
I have thirsty hair, so it gets some sort of moisture erry day.

True...I cowash almost daily, so I never had that problem, but I can see where it can lead to a lot of build up:look:

I have very coarse, dry hair, so I moisturize daily. If I miss a day, I can really see a difference

yea, i absolutely need to.

i have 2 kinds of moisturizers. 1 is in the form of vo5, elucence or AOHC or OHHB from qhemet as a leave-in.

the 2nd is basically a watery mix of vo5/elucence, water and maybe a little jojoba oil all mixed up in a spray bottle.

after a cowash or wash i'll use #1 moisturizer for my once a week styling. #2 moisturizer is used once or twice a day (usually once at night).

my hair is very happy doing things this way so i don't think i'll be changing anything any time soon.

I have to moisturize daily (nightly) because I work out M-F and I have rinse, co-wash or shampoo every evening because my hair feels "not-nice" after the sweat has dried in it.

I don't find it necessary. When in braids or twists, I don't apply any moisturizer to my hair at all. When wearing it out, I apply SCurl to make it easy to comb and I do apply enough to make the comb glide the way it would would conditioner and water (I use the spray). I apply first to damp hair after a wash, then again in the evening when my hair is dry. I baggy for the night and never need to apply anymore again until wash day. My hair stays moist and soft w/o being icky sticky and comb easily when I take my baggy off every morning.

I only moisturize after a wash. My hair doesn't need it and looks/feels better without a lot of product. I have to clarify once a week b/c I have oily hair naturally and products just coat and stick to my hair. Sometimes I don't moisturize at all and sealing is totally out of the question. :look:

I usually moisturize daily. I usually let my hair tell me. I feel it and see how much "stuff" I can feel. If my hand looks wet, none needed, if I can just feel it between my fingers, needs more.

i usually moisturize morning and night but this weekend i did a saran wrap with keracare cremed hairdress and JBCO and i dont think i will need to moisturize today at all

I try to moisturize every night before bed. I definitely can't go more than two nights without moisturizing.
