Is a paddle brush good for relaxed hair and why? If you think it is not please tell me why. I heard these brushes are good for your hair because they do not casue that much tension and stress on the hair.

Paddle brushes are great for relaxed and natural hair - because the 'teeth' are farther apart than your regular brush you lessen the chance of damage if using while hair is wet, the ends have bulbs on them not straight points and they are great for adding body to your hair during blow drying.

The one from Aveda is great. Had it for a few years now, no complaints at all.

I think it depends on the brush, not all are created equal . I just bought a D83 Denman Paddle Brush and I  it. It's PERFECT. But other brushes I've seen in stores always scared me so I never tried them. The bristles on the Denman have rounded ends, but not the little balls. Whenever I tried one with the balls on it I always ended up tearing out hair.

I love paddle brushes. Although I'm transitioning, I still have mainly relaxed hair, and I've always used a paddle brush. As a matter of fact, I was using my paddle brush last night, and thinking 'this brush sure is old'. I was wondering if I should get a new one.

Yup, ITA. I remember my old Dominican hair dresser gave me one for Christmas looooooong time ago, and I was like :look:. I can now appreciate a good paddle brush, I prefer the rounded ones as opposed to the square ones though.

Gives great body and smoothness to the hair!

Soliel185 where did you get your D83 from? I have a D3 and ohhh boy do I love that thing so I know I'll fall head over heels for the D83.

I bought it on Amazon. I didn't even know Denman made paddle brushes! Theré is a D83 and a D84 - the D84 is the larger of the two. I went with the D83 b/c it looked easier to handle, and my hair is SL at the moment. I might upgrade as my hair gets longer.

i love them for blow drying and to brush thru products. like, i rub the serum, oil etc in my hair and then use the paddle brush to distribute it thru out

I think you will just use shampoo and let water run through the brush. It does not seem like it will be as difficult as regular brushes.

I have a Goody one, think it's called So Gelous or something like that because it has a gel handle. It's also infused with ions and cool stuff like that. I only use it when I wrap my hair for a saran wrap. It doesn't catch on my hair or anything, and it somehow makes my hair smooth and soft. I don't know if I'm hallucinating, but it makes my hair a little shinier too.
