hmmmm I wonder if I added Oil to Humecto would it be better? Maybe I need to switch to the tub. Right now I'm tryna use up the bottle I have :-/:perplexed. I wish I would have known about the tub before buying two big bottles of Humecto :wallbash::wallbash:

I have the tub size of the humecto and this is what I normally have to do with it. For some reason, it does not give me the slip like it does most people. I usually add 2 TBS of jojoba or EVOO oils that I have heated in the microwave oven for 25 seconds or so, add in the humecto and then apply to my hair. My hair reacts a lot better to it this way. Needless to say I will not be ordering the humecto again. My hair does however, love mizani moisturefuse, kenra mc and Pantene R/N hair mask.

I think I'm going to try this!

My favorite is Dark and Lovely Dry Hair Healer. Did you try washing your hair with a chelating shampoo? Your hair might be building up and that's why it's not responding to your conditioner like it used to. Try that. It always does the trick for me. I like Nexxus' Aloe Rid shampoo for chelating.

hi there,

do you mind posting what's in this for me, please?

tia,
tishee

I'm feeling Kenra MC, tried it and I'm hooked. I love the smell too, and it does give my hair slip. :yep:

There is a huge difference in Humecto in the tub and Humecto in the bottle. I read that when I first joined LHCF. I couldn't understand that and when I tried it I was amazed. Humecto in the tub is a lot thicker and it gives really good slip.

After trying just about everything :look:, my three favorites are:

Biolage Ultra Hydrating Balm
AO Honeysuckle Rose
Redken All Soft

Nexxus Humectress worked well for me, but I'm moving toward natural products so I'm going to switch to Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose & GPB.

AGGIE !!! I think I may have FINALLY found my hair twin! Humecto was decent and I never bought it again, I love Moisturefuse, and just fell in love with Kenra MC! We might need to chat, lol!

I AGREE 1000%--its the best conditoner I have found for moisturizing my EXTREMELY DRY 3c hair---if i ever met the man that made this i'd give him a big :kiss2:

OT: Your hair is GORGEOUS!!! Loves it!

OnT: I've used many and plenty conditioners, and my favorites are Redken All Soft, and Bed Head's Moisture Maniac.

Hey TM, wow I have always wanted to find my hair twin, lol.

I like:
Motions Moisture Plus
ORS Replenishing
Aphogee 2 Min Reconstructor (moistures my hair anyway :ohwell:)
Kenra MC

However I have noticed that when I use Kenra MC it usually works within 5 minutes of being in the shower with it and I dont usually feel like getting out the shower and letting it stay on an additional 2 minutes but for some reason I do because I feel it will just be better for my hair. I could use it as a rinse out and get the same results and besides your hair can only absorb but so much conditioner before the rest just sits on top right??? IDK but I have this same situation with Aphogee. Motions and ORS seem to need to stay on longer so I wonder could I get away with using the Kenra and Aphogee as a rinse out instead of DCing with them since my ahir seems to feel the same??

NEXXUS is good.

ORS is good as well-- but right now I'm feeling Elucence. Seems like it'd turn other individual's hair to mush but since I need moisture it's good for me.
I cowash with it daily.

Kinda wanna try Keracare...

Paul Mitchell SuperCharged Moisturizer
Ion Color Defense Hydrating Moisture Treatment
Joico Moisture Recovery Balm :yep:
Activate Hydrating conditioner
ORS Replenishing
Aveda Damage Remedy conditioner :lick:

I love Activate also. Another good one is Elucense MB.

Last but not least - Bumble and Bumble Super Rich - pricey but worth it.

I'm having a problem..It seems like my texture is changing or something. For the past few weeks, Humecto (in the bottle) hasn't been getting it like it used to :perplexed. I still have slip, but my hair is not as soft as I need it to be, and my hair still feels dry. What are some other great moisturizing conditioners that are good?

This Thread may help you..Well it made me stop and think about why my Conditioners no longer works on my hair!!....Please remember I am not comuter savy and therefore I copy and paste the whole thing...opps! (I hope it helps!)

Some helpful (hopefully) information ... hard water, conditioning, and relaxers
First off this information is not just for relaxed heads. I feel that it's useful for natural and relaxed hair.

After much confusion with the hard water issue I decided to call in the big dogs; so I e-mailed Redken about this issue. I use a product of theirs called Hair Cleansing Cream and have been for a couple of years now. My question to them was if it was safe to use the Hair Cleansing Cream daily . I also asked them if it's a chelating cleanser then how is if effective if you are still rinsing with hard water. (For some it's common sense but for other's, like myself, it's a valid question). Well they e-mailed me back and asked that I call them for more information. So I called and spoke to an extremely helpful Redken technician named Judy. I asked her the first question.
She said that she doesn't advise the use of the Cleansing Cream daily for relaxed or naturally curly hair because it may dry out the hair. She also advised against using it every other day but said that it was possible to do so; I'll take her advice though and continue to use it once a week.

She explained the second question (rinsing with hard water). She said hard water is not a bad thing. But the buildup from the hard water is. She said that what chelating cleansers like the Redken Hair Cleansing Cream do is allow penetration of the conditioner.

Then a big light finally went on in my head ... that is why the same conditioner will work well one time (I always use the Cleansing Cream when it's my first time using a conditioner) and doesn't do anything later on. Everytime I use the Cleansing Cream I always get excellent results from any conditioner that I use. However, when I use a different shampoo (even if it's a clarifier) with the same conditioner (over a period of time) I don't get the same results. I hope that makes sense??
Over the years I have noticed so many people on here say that they use clarifying shampoos and that the conditioners they used to love still don't work anymore even after clarifying. I, too, was stumped as to why this happens - other than a change in the formula. So I have been doing research and found that in order to remove all of the mineral and calcium deposits you have to use a chelating shampoo.

Clarifying shampoos only remove surface buildup ... chelating shampoos cleanse the hair from the inside. Now some are harsh but there are others that are very gentle. Like I said, I absolutely love the Redken Cleansing Cream and my hair doesn't feel stripped or anything after using it.

She also said that using a chelating shampoo (of course she said the Cleansing Cream but I say chelating since Redken isn't the only brand that has a chelating cleanser) 48-72 hours before a relaxer will allow the relaxer to yield better results.

So I decided to ask her more and asked her what ingredients should a person avoid before applying a relaxer. She said anything that is made mostly of petroleum. She said it doesn't matter if it's used on the previously relaxed hair since you aren't supposed to put relaxer on those sections anyway; but make sure to avoid products with those ingredients on the new growth.

I also think that conditioners stop working due to buildup from switching to different conditioners. For instance:

Say you use Elucence with wonderful results and then switch to a different conditioner for a little while. When you switch back to your beloved Elucence you say, "Hey what happened ... this used to work and now it's crap".

If, before you start using the Elucence again, you cleansed your hair with a chelating shampoo, then Elucence might work just as well as it did before since you got rid of the buildup from the other conditioner.

I hope this all makes sense to my LHCF sisters and hopefully it will help you in your hair care journey.

Hair after using Kerastase Reistance Line - Shampoo, Ciment Antiusure, and Ciment Thermique - crown is 100% natural 4a/b

I voted other because cholesterol mixed with a few key ingredients has done wonders for my hair as well as redken smooth down butter treat. I used to use Keracare Humecto in the tub but it does nothing for my natural texture when my hair was relaxed it was great but only when it was relaxed. I hope to add the Redken new Masque to this list and Aveda's new moisturizing conditioner as well :yep:

I like the Organix conditioners... the Shea butter one was really good. Aussie- moist is great and Tresemme thermal recovery is good too. I just went back to using Mane n Tail- well I will once I get these braids out! LOL. I also like Joico Intense Rehydrator and Moisture Recovery.

 I've learned a lot, thanks
