Hehe I like the "new natural," "blow up," and the "perfecto" the best on those guys. What was up with the magazines back then? I can see every little stubble bit and the ingrowns too on that last guy. :lachen:

:lachen::lachen::lachen:
they all look pretty much the same to me:ohwell:

I would go for the "new natural" and "the private eye"

Thanks so much! These pics are so cute. I wonder where all of these men, minus Richard Roundtree, are today? I have a big collection of Jet magazines and I love looking at the various styles/fashions that were big in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

:look: Uh, they don't look the same to me. Oh well.

I love seeing pictures about 70's style.

HoneyDew, then break it down for me. How does the Professional differ from the Duke? And how does the Prince differ from the Executive?

I enjoyed the pics. Thanks for sharing.

i like the perfecto & the blow-up. but um, most of these styles looked exactly the same... :look:

very interesting article though, thanks for sharing op!

They are not all the same!

The "Sportsman' for instance required ten heavy strokes of the blackpowerfist pick applied vertically., while the "Flattop" required nine with a few pats to the top after.

I really like the "Suave", he has a nice sexy lean of the fro going on.

I think my uncle may have been one of the models.

Those two do look very similar, but I think the Duke is a little higher.

Pointy kinda.

These may be of some interest, as well. They are ads from the late 60's to early 70's

Hi Ladies,

I'm glad you liked the pics.

:afro2: :afropick: :afro:

Is the Blowup a lady? It's hard to tell but I think that one might be.

The styles do look different to me too. The Professional & Duke are really close but I think the sideburns and the length of the sides are a little different. The Prince & Executive just seem to have an ever so slightly different shape as if for one you have to mash the top with your hand for 8 seconds with 15 psi of hand pressure and the other one you have to mash it for 20 seconds with 12 psi of hand pressure.

Oh...the nuance of the 70's Fro!:cool2:

OMG :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: Y'all better stop with the count of directional pick strokes, count of pats, amount of pressure and number of seconds needed to create the looks. :lachen:I'm literally in tears! :lachen:
