I am a little over 16 months post right now. I too have had long hair all my life so I told myself I would do a long transition....Well, I must say that I am falling in love with my new growth and I might BC in June.
I have been co-washing daily and slicking back into a bun (using CD hair butter and IC polisher gel) and once a week, I will blow dry and flat iron.

Transitioning is so much fun..I too wish I had thought of this sooner!

I have both the CD Hair Butter and Fantasia Sparkelites Gel so I may have to try that combo once my twists come out.

HEY Ya'll,

My last relaxer was February 25th '07, soooo.....I guess that would make me 54...55 weeks? WOW!!! And I originally planned to stretch for 6 months.:spinning:

14 weeks post checking in!

Some days I really want to relax, and other days I don't even think about it. I am feeling quite anxious about seeing my hair au naturale, but I cannot bring myself to BC...EVER.

I have a little over an inch of NG (unstretched), and I'm doing CWs every other day. Some days I look decent and others...:nono:. I think it's more laziness than anything else, but I am really going to have to get on the ball. The best styling option I've tried so far was blowdrying and flat ironing my hair, but I'm too scared to do that weekly. I love twistouts, but I can't figure out how to make mine last more than a day and actually look like something. So it's been buns, buns, buns...

I'm 28 weeks here! I'm struggling! How is everyone maintaining?

I have micro braids now. I think I will keep wearing braids until the end of the summer because my hair grows like crazy in them. I braided my hair on Saturday and already I have a lot of new growth coming in, transitioning is so exciting.:yep: I wish I could use topical growth aids tho ... but nothing seems to work for me

I am 18 weeks post. Transitioning is going good right now. I am tempted sometimes to relax because of detangling. But I have learned to be patient and handle my hair with care. I am happy with my choice to transition.:yep:

I will be 13 weeks post on Friday. I am itching to BC but I really don't have enough hair to do it. I am going back and forth though because I finally have hair long enough to bun. I'm so torn as to what I'll do.:ohwell:

D, if you are torn or have any doubts then it is obvious that now is not the right time to do anything 'cept tread some water ;).

ya know i'm tellin the truth :yep:

I've been transitioning since Dec '06, so I'm about 63 weeks post. Every so often I get the urge to relax, and then I snap out of it. I haven't seen my natural hair texture since I was about 12 or 14. I'm actually excited to see it, and it's less work not worrying about my hair curling up in the rain, when I work out or any humidity that comes my way. I trimmed it in Feb, to get rid of a lot of split ends and since then I've really taken much better care of my hair and try to limit my heat usage.

I'm about 8 wks post. I last relaxed on January 18th of '08. I'm too tired to figure out the weeks. I've been doing about 10-15 bantu knots on Saturday after my simple 3 hour process - prepoo, wash, dc, leave-in, moisturize, seal regimen.

I usually have a cute fro that I put a headband in after a day or two, an updo after that and then a loose bun on the last few desparate days and then the process starts again. I

Actually, the less I do the better it looks and feels. That's so crazy.

I'm planning to transition until I desire a BC if I desire one. I'm kind of bored with figuring out my hair and stuff. I have a pretty solid regimen right now and I just want to watch tv and read a book.

I got the itch to relax over Spring Break because my parents wouldn't leave me alone about my hair. I got kinky twists before I did anything that I would have regretted later on.
I see tons of ladies will beautiful bantu knots and braid outs, but my hair WILL NOT cooperate with me. I think I may just wear braids/twists for the rest of my transitioning period. Is anyone else having styling issues?

I am transitioning again I think:look:. I always get to 6 months and chicken out. I haven't texlaxed since October so we will see. I just cut off about 2 inches of fully relaxed ends so hopefully that will make it easier. I think if I go to the Dominicans once a month I may be able to make it. At least that way I can feel my scalp every once in a while!

so........
im debating whether or not i want to go natural.. its been a back and fourth journey for me... my only purpose for being natural is for the healthiness that i see in my friends hair wen its pressed. it looks so full and beautiful... although i do love my perms.. im soo torn. i have thick of thick of thick hair. i got my first perm at age 13 n been relaxed for 8 years.

during my transition... wud it be bad of me to get a dominican blow out once a week i guess... and wash it, blow dry, and flat iron on my own the other weeks...???

i tried rollersetting.. but i didnt know what to do with my hair after i took my rollers out.. i didnt know what styles to do... im torn torn torn .. i have no problem stretching my perms but going all the way seems so drastic.

could i use coconut milk?! is that considered getting a relaxer? or would that just loosen my roots?.. does anyone do the coconut lime concoction religiously?!

any advice?!
please help.

tia

I'm still transitioning. It has been about 20 months. Cond washes have helped tremendously during my transition. I didn't think that I would actually be transitioning this long, but I'm slowly getting used to the shrinkage and will let the ends go eventually...

WOW!! I'm so happy to see so many where I am, I'm 8 weeks post and even though I have a relaxer scheduled for Friday, I am so IN LOVE with my newgrowth. Honestly, Ayurvedic products are helping me out immensely and co-washes. I'm so torn as Sweetsuccess mentioned. Maybe texlaxing would give me the best of both worlds and keep my thickness, but I love my curly coils. Oh I just don't know!!!

I'm here:grin:!

I'm currently 13 weeks post (14 weeks as of this saturday) and so far so good. I've been washing and deep conditioning weekly and my hair has been fine. I put braids in my hair last weekend so I'll be leaving my hair alone for the next 2 months. Afterwards, it will be falls for 2 weeks and back to braids for another 2 months.

I have been having urges to cut or BC but as of yesterday, I am more determined than ever to transition w/o the BC because I don't want to have any regrets. I know I will. I've seen too many beautiful heads on herr that have done long transitions that have succeeded. I also had a dream last night that I relaxed and i woke up being tempted to relax:rolleyes:. However, that feeling didn't last long since I felt disappointment that my kinks and coils would be gone forever :(. I reminded myself that I can get relaxer straight results with my flat iron and that I will have so much more options and versatility with natural hair :).

I am having trouble flat ironing my hair! My roots are being REAL stubborn.:perplexed

Time to look through my pantry and see what I got in there that might work!

I'm one year into my transition.

Checking in at 11 months!...and it does get alot easier after the first 5-6 months.:yep:

Wear in a bun 90% of the time..cut about 3 inches off last week, so when straightned its a nice blunt shoulder length bob ( but with shrinkage, a little past my ear:grin:)

Checking in! I'm currently at 16 weeks. The past 12 weeks I've been in braids.

The only reason I am in braids (right now) is because it is easier to deal with the transition since I work out daily and sweat a lot! I'm thinking about taking them out soon though and start learning how to deal with the two textures. :yep:

HEre! :yep: I'm almost to the one year mark
11 months -or- 49 weeks No BC.

I feel the urge to texlax every time I wash or co-wash my hair.
The good thing is... washing it prevents me from being able to use chemicals.

Trimming more frequently these days. Wearing cornrows & braidouts
