If you have made the decision to transition this year OR are continuing your transition this year CHECK IN!

This is NOT a challenge or support thread.

If you are checking in, how many weeks post are you?

I am somewhere between 56 and 58 weeks post and I STILL toggle back and forth with whether or not I am going to relax .

I'm still here! I am currently 54.5 weeks post ... still planning to BC in September.

I'm 15 weeks post!!! I'm one leg over the fence in my decision to transition though- each time I try to completely decide, I find myself wondering if I can really do this. Time will tell...:ohwell:

*If I make it to 6 months (24 weeks) no relaxer, I will be in it to win it!!!!!:spinning:

24-15= 9 weeks!!! Can I do it?

You can do it. Transitioning is NOT easy even though some make it appear to be so.

I am almost 14 months post relaxer (I guess that would be about 60 weeks give or take?). I can honestly say that it's been a breeze and I haven't had the urge to relax at all. (just wishing I had started my transition earlier)

I really haven't done any mini-chops yet except for the couple of inches I had trimmed off in January.

7 weeks this Friday! I have micros (i did em myself *whoop whoop*) which are helping my transition become a cake walk ! :drunk:

Still transitioning...starting to wear my twa out--i have tons of new growth so barely any relaxer. I never big chopped just transitioned from a short cut anyway. I'm going to be 7 months on March 20th. Not having a urge to relax, just experimenting with new products for my hair and getting used to it.

I cant wait for it to get longer also.

I guess I'm transitioning, My last touch up was in December so 12 weeks post. I've been natural before and I really hate the growing out process. Add that to the fact that I chopped off my hair into a chin length bob, that means no pony tail:nono: I'm going to have to figure out what to do with my hair when the new growth and relaxed hair is half and half. EEK!

Eventhough I just started, I would REALLY like a BAA for this summer. Even if I have to buy one.

March 15 marked 6 months for me.

Like blackbarbie I haven't had the urge to relax and I wish I had started my transition earlier.

Me  still transitioning again *sigh*!! I am almost 46 weeks post. I plan to big chop in September but I am doing a mini-chop this Thursday casue my hair has no shape right now. I also hope the cut will make detangling :wallbash: easier - hoping to go from SL to a bob. Staying in kinky twists and cornrows has helped the transition be a little easier.

Checking in:yep: I agree, my transition has been pretty easy. Zero desire to relax. April 4th will make a year for me, so right now, I am about 50 weeks post. No immediate plans to BC, but I did just cut another 2 inches, just to get some of the relaxed ends off, so my hair is in a longer bob, barely touching my shoulders. I'll prob keep my hair around this length, and cut whatever straight ends are left, at the 2 yr mark.

17 weeks post checking in.
Haven't been natural since I was 5.
So I'm pretty eager to see what my hair can do.
I've been using coconut milk to loosen my curl pattern a little.
Since I'm wearing my hair straight for now.
When it curls back up by Thursday, I'll slick it back.
I'm thinking about getting a protective style.
Because I want to retain this length so badly.

It wasn't until I was about to reply to this post that I realized that I'll be 12 months post in a few weeks on April 6th. My how time flies! To be honest my transition has been pretty easy, as long as I dampen my hair before I comb it it's all good. I'm like many of the other ladies, I wished I had started this process earlier. I don't plan on BC'ing because it's easier to deal with the length I have. I cut my hair last summer to above SL and have don't small trims in between now I think I'm around APL I'll have to straighten it to make sure. Right now I keep it bunned or braided up either with tree braids or under a wig. I plan on getting a full sew in weave in April, and I'll straighten my actual hair in August for my birthday . I can't wait to be au natural! lol Good luck and stay strong ladies we all will reap the benefits.

I'm already natural but I just wanted to say congrats on your decision and best wishes on your transition to all you ladies.

21 weeks and feeling quite ugly under this stupid hat that I've only got like a month or so before it gets too hot to continue wearing:thud:

Wow that is so inspiring!
I am only at 11 weeks post and I really want to transition.

Like blackbarbie, I'd hate to relax my hair and then eventually start transitioning again and be like "oh no, i wish I had started sooner" because frankly that is how I already feel.

Ladies who have transitioned for more than a year, HOW DO YOU DO IT???

do you straighten your hair often?
see, I don't even "do" my hair that often, but the thought of having 5 inches of newgrowth is somehow daunting.

How do you manage your hair on a day to day basis?

I hope to transition for AT LEAST a year. I feel weird admitting it, but I think i have a long hair complex since I've always had it, but I really want to stop perming.

Tommorrow I will be 63 weeks post relaxer, I really have not had many problems, until I got sick over Xmas and I had a lot of shedding and breakage.
I am still have not found a moisturizer I can call a staple.
The only urge I have is to cut these relaxed ends, in fact I thought about cutting them off in the bathroom at work today.:lachen:

 @ "long hair complex". Girl I think we all have one! Seriously though, I have always had long hair and at times when I have cut it to a blunt chin length bob for a change, it was really cute and I vowed that I would keep it at that length, but then I began to miss my "long" hair and would grow it back.

I am being very honest when I say that the transition has been a cake walk. The first few months, I would occasionally go to the salon to get a rollerset and get my roots flat ironed. (I absolutely love to rollerset, but it became a nightmare for me after abut 12 or 13 weeks:ohwell:) I tried to flat iron my own roots a few times, but I am not that patient a person and I am so afraid of any type of heat appliances:yep:.

The rest of the time, I would either do a flat twistout, a ponytail braidout, or a sleek bun on wet hair (my favorite). The rest of the time was actually "MOST" of the time. In the past year, I probably went to the salon to get my hair professionally rollerset about 3 or 4 times. Besides that, I was co-washing every 3 or 4 days.

The light bulb went off for me when I finally was able to detangle my hair effortlessly. Once I figured that out, I was home free. And now I just realized (just in the past week) that I have been sleeping on Tressemmee conditioner and I REALLLLLLY should have done this sooner. (that stuff is the real deal!)

Now if someone much further along in their transition or either someone that has more NG than relaxed hair can tell me the secret to doing a wash n' go and what products to use so when your hair dries it is soft to the touch and not "crunchy", I will be home free!!!!!

I am a little over 16 months post right now. I too have had long hair all my life so I told myself I would do a long transition....Well, I must say that I am falling in love with my new growth and I might BC in June.
I have been co-washing daily and slicking back into a bun (using CD hair butter and IC polisher gel) and once a week, I will blow dry and flat iron.

Transitioning is so much fun..I too wish I had thought of this sooner!
