what is your review on Shikakai hair soap? Did it make your sticky or matted like the powder? was it easy to wash out? Is it better then the powder? Did you get any growth from it and how much growth from it?

I love it, but am also fond of the powder. The bar left my hair feeling strange the first time I used it, but I learned that shikakai needs the hair to be preoiled. So I did that and the next time I washed, it left my hair so soft, detangled and clean. It took a minute to get used to this concept, but the results were great. I can't say if just shikakai bar or powder attributed to my growth, because I use other stuff like bringaraj, bhrami, amla, fenugreek and
neem as well.

Thats good to hear but did you prepoo w/oils or did you oil your scalp before you wash your hair w/the soap? and did you prepoo or oil the scalp that day of washing your hair?

Prepoo with oils both on scalp and hair, usually overnight before I wash. I also use the oils the day of washing. I heat them, apply, then cover with damp warm towel, rinse, then wash.

I like the soap when i'm washing my hair. It lathers well and detangles but while rinsing and after it leaves my hair feeling weird also.....like it coated or stripped or something:perplexed I don't like that. I do a prepoo with amla so I don't know why it leaves my hair feeling like that:perplexed I use a rinse after the shikakai and aritha soap. I probably won't repurchase unless it gives me some great growth.

I just purchased this shampoo bar, but haven't used it yet. I was wondering is it suppose to give great hair growth? I thought this bar was only good for thickening the hair shaft and giving strength to hair. I remember reading somewhere that it leaves some sort of protective coating on the hair.

I used it the other day -

-oil scalp with Shikaikai oil
-scritch or scratch your scalp for about 10-15 minutes
-cover with plastic cap and let it sit for 30 minutes or overnight (I also added some coconut oil and a little Ojon restorative treatment)
-next, add Amla oil to hair (yeah, I was real greasy at that point) :lachen:; let it sit for 15-30 minutes or so
-rinse thoroughly
-shampoo hair with Shikaikai soap (I lathered it in my hands and then applied to hair)
-DC as normal

I didn't have a coating or anything left on my hair doing it this way; it just felt really thick and smooth. When I rinsed the oil out, I could see it was getting clean from the color of the water coming off my head! It was also great knowing that I didn't have any detergent in my hair from shampoo and I shed way less.

HTH!

:goodpost:Thanks alot I:heart: that method I am definitly gonna try that :yep::yep:

I don't pre-poo or oil my hair or scalp. Maybe the hemp seed butter that I use in my hair daily acts as the "pre-poo" who knows. I just get in the shower and soap the bar up in my hands and it works MAGICALLY. i love it! cleans my hair with NO dryness.

I love the powder and the soap. I know some people have said that it mats and tangle their hair, but neither has and I use once or twice a week. I do always follow with a moisturizing conditioner, nothing extravagant, VO5 honeydew smoothie or juicy mango passion. With the powder, though, I do not make a paste with water, but with conditioner and the stuff just melts into my hair and "suds" up. The hair soap detangles my hair nicely and makes it really strong.

Thanks for posting I was wondering if I wash my hair the second time w/a reg shampoo would it mess up anything.
