So, a couple of days ago I asked about is the CHI really worth it... today I mustered up the nerve to go to ULTA and buy one.

My hair looks and feels like I just left the salon. When my camera battery charges I'll take a picture and post it here :)

I'm newly transitioning (3.5 months post) and think I've found my answer to between salon visits. It took me an hour to straighten it taking small sections, but I truly can tell the difference between the CHI and my Jilbere. I mean it's like WOW!

Thank you to everyone who answered my original questions about the CHI, and those who offered advice regarding the Sedu and FHI. The CHI was on sale ($20 off) so I figured why not try it. I may take it back and order one off folica.com if I can find one cheaper there.

Glad you love the CHI. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Did you get one with the different heat settings or without? If you have the one without does it make a difference that you can't control the temps...?

Also :needpics:.

I got the one without. The guy in Ulta (a black stylist), was helping me determine which would work best for me. He told me NOT to get the turbo based on what my hair looked like to him. He told me that in his experience he didn't find much difference between the CHI, FHI, and Sedu, but his preference was CHI. He recommended Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum (which I knew about already). So, I bought that instead of the CHI Silk infusion. I'll try the silk infusion later down the line.

I'll be back to post pics in a sec.

Glad to hear you love your CHI. :yep:

I love high quality hair appliances.

If we are going to use heat, it is better to use better stuff.

I had that experience with my hair dryer. Now that I use a high quality one I can tell a huge difference.

YAY FOR YOU!!!!
i'm glad you're happy and excited about your chi.

i was the same way w/ my maxiglide.

pics... I'm 13 weeks post relaxer.

Which dryer do you use?

BTW, I'm sorry about the extra large pic of my scalp! LOL! I was trying to get a close up. I can't believe I had about 1.5 inches of new growth before :)

My first higher end dryer was the Rusk HyperIonic. But a little piece broke off and I sent it in for warranty service. They told me that one was replaced with the Rusk Speed Freak, which they sent and I have not used yet. I could not wait for them LOL so I bought a rusk CTC Lite on Ebay.

The Rusk Hyperionic was amazing! I was so happy with my dryer. I still did not "get it" until i had to do my hair when I was not home and used a "regular" dryer. that is when it sunk it. There are just better hair appliances out there. I miss my Hyperionic, but I love my CTC Lite.

I am never using walmart, target and other cheapo irons or dryers again!!

Pretty! And shiny!

What did you use on your hair before ironing?

I pre-pooed with hot oil treatment, then shampooed with Nexxus Therappe, DC with ORS Replishing pak. Then I blew my hair dry ( I know... bad girl!), then flat ironed section by section.

Oh yeah, I did use a little Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum. Here's a pic of my hair yesterday (twist out) to give a difference:

I'm saving for my dryer now. My friend who is natural, BSL straight, just bought the CHI turbo dryer and she LOVES it. She said she hasn't been to the salon in months to get her hair straightened because she gets great results at home. She only goes to salon for color and trim.

I have to research dryers once I have money.

Only issue I have now is that I see the CHI is much cheaper on Folica.com, so I'll order there and return the one I have to ULTA this weekend.

You're making wanna get a CHI. I never owned a flat iron.

Your hair looks great. Your roots came out pretty straight too:yep:

Your eyebrows look really nice too.

Thanks!

I'm now on the bandwagon with HoneyDew! I will save for higher end appliances from now on :)

I'm sure I could have gotten my roots straighter, but I only did 1-2 passes on very small sections just to see if it would work. I think the CHI gets close to the root because of the rounded plate. For some reason it seemed like I got closer to my scalp without hurting myself.

And thanks re: my brows :) I get them waxed a local nail salon.

ok now I'm confused

which is better for 4a and b natural hair? I was thinking of getting the maxiglide but all this raving about the chi is making me wonder.

hell even my b/f knows about chi:look:

DANG!
I'll have to wait to get the CHI.
My college wallet can't afford that. LOL.
I'm going to rock with my Solia for now.

I'm probably mostly 4a and I've never used a maxiglide, so I can't say. But, I can say that CHI is the TRUTH! :)
