I totally agree! ITA! (for emphasis) It really helps with so many things....

I don't get the rancid smelling hair. Just don't get it at all... but anywhoo:look:

SO says he likes my freshly washed hair.
I've been on LHCF since before we got together.
So he's never seen me without my nice healthy hair.
I was debating on co-washing today, but you ladies have made the choice for me.

This is so true. My DH ALWAYS comments on how good my hair smells. I really have to agree as well. I have always washed my hair a minimum of every 2-3 days for that reason. I hate to smell a whiff of hair (you know that smell) and not smell freshness. Conditioner washing makes it smell even better with all the lovely fruity flavors of suave, etc. My scalp actually hurts if I go longer than a couple days without a wash.

I love conditioner washes because of the fruity smells.

I've been hooked to co-washing the last 3 months....Well my brother told me he loved that and wish his wife would start it as well ( my sister in-law is black)....
Then he goes on to say that is the one thing other women in other races have over black women...My first reaction was to get upset....He goes on to say black women hair doesn't stink or anything ...it just doesn't have that fresh clean shampooed smell...
He went on to say that is a weak spot for most men.....he said he'll be in a grocery store and a women walks by and her hair smells good .....she got his attention....He said it's something about that fresh shampooed smell
Why does my husband feel the same way.....

What do you guys think??????????
I agree....if you consider many black ladies don't think they should wash often, their hair won't smell fresh like that.

Every man I've dated loved to bury his nose in my hair...and inhale. I almost always get compliments on it.

My hubby always has his nose in my hair - he says he loves how it smells.

I must admit I've had that happen where someone has walked by and I can smell how fresh their hair is. It's like - wow - that really smells great! I like to give that same kind of reactionto others so I make sure to have me hair as fresh and crisp as I can:yep:! How can I be mad at him if I feel the same way:look:?

 yall having be looking up fruity smelling conditioners...any suggestions?

There is nothing like a head of freshly washed hair using great smelling shampoo, but IMO, it can be a little overwhelming when strong perfumed shampoos are used. Oh well, I am one those sensitive nose people. But for the most part, I enjoy washing my hair every day now by using methods that do not strip my hair of natural oil. You also reap the benefit of faster hair growth washing hair every day. I apply a good amount of conditioner and concentrate on messaging my scalp, then rinse, oil, then braid and go. The next day my hair is very soft and always smells fresh. And I am noticing signficant growth. I think of hair like grass in the summer time, lol. The more you water it, the faster it grows!

*nod* Yup, yup... Thats' one of my tiebreakers when it comes to buying products - or deciding what will go in a recipe - how good it smells. DH likes me to smell good (and thank the HEAVENS he likes the smell of ayurvedic herbs....)

You are so lucky...my DH can't stand the smell of the ayurvedic herbs - and get this...he's Indian:perplexed
I had to check my tone as I was telling him that he had better get used to it. I compromise by only washing with the ayurvedic stuff once a week and the other times I use good smelling stuff.

I agree with the OP's brother :ohwell: And to be honest there have been days when my hair hasn't been the freshest.

Washing daily is something that I wish I could do, but it takes too much time to style since I'm chin length. So I wash weekly, maybe twice a week.

I agree with your brother as well. I know for me, after day 3 from my wash, my head starts to get that "head" smell, and me no likey. I need to figure out what to do with my hair so I can cowash more often. Getting a whiff of tart scalp is not a good look.

The other day this girl sat down next to me on the bus..and lawd the smells that were emanating from that scalp...a mixture of candied cherries and corn chips. Sadly, I remember my own funky head days too clearly.

It's true. I like for my hair to smell good too. Especially considering it's long or rather beyond arm-pit length. But that doesn't just apply to women.....I like for my man to have fresh smelling hair. Their little hair can get funky too. He should be shampooing daily.

So true! he is right! a great majority of black women believe in the "wash your hair every 2 wks" theory...str8t BS!!!!!!!!! A woman at work told me that i'm not a "white girl",so i should stop cowashing my hair every other day..Iwas like:blush:...IMHO,I believe this (washing more often) is the reason why many women of other races have longer hair than the average black woman....some black women need to step thier game up:rolleyes:

i know a lot of black women who hair smells like....burnt hair. y'all know that smell. i go to hug them and get a big whiff of scorched hair. :nono:

He's totally right. My SO gets this look in his eyes when he smells my hair and it's all sexy. lol I had my henna mix in and he was like  I know you're taking care of your hair and all but ummmmmm isn't it time for you to wash that out now?:look: lol

But when I used HE's LTR he was like :lick:

Men are so peculiar.

I cowash everyday as well and my boyfriend is always sniffing my hair:lachen::lachen::lachen:

It annoys me a little, but for some reason, he loves the smell of clean hair.

Yeah, he has a point. Everytime I wash my hair I can't stop sniffing it. And my man is the same way. Just smelling good in general is a turn on.

He's right and I aint even a man :nono:

Smells in general rub me the right or wrong way. It's something about a place or person void of any smell that doesn't sit well with me. I realize A LOT of folks are allergic to perfumes and that's understood, but it does something for DH when I smell like berries, cucumber, peaches and whatever else Bath & Body Works can dream up.

The hair is no exception. That was one of my first comments...I said something to the affect that I was jealous that other races could wash their hair daily. When I got onto the elevator with them I could smell the freshness of something fruity.

My hair still doesn't smell as fresh because I don't co wash daily and I use oils and what-nots that detract from the fresh smell, but I make up for with body butters/lotions or whatever.

Never underestimate the power of (good) food and (good) smells on a man

she said it. i agree. i can't stand if my hair is not fresh or if someone walks past me w/ smelly hair. yuk. i the summer i poo or cowash daily. winter it is 1-3x a week. but no matter what if i even think my hair does not smell fresh i will fix it immediately.

Yeap so true...one time at a military going away party and a white girlfriend was pcsing (moving) and we threw her a going away party. I gave her a hug goodbye at the end of the party and she said shockingly..." dang! Your hair smells so good...." Like she never smelled a black woman hair that smelled good. She was really shocked. She was drunk and being real honest...too honest and told a few other black girlfriends that night before we left to "smell her hair.....", Ya'll need to wash your hair like Monica does." That was an awkward moment. Thankfully that was not a big arguement, fight or debate. She was drunk. Thank God!! You can't fight in the military or you'll get an Article 15 or reprimand.

Anyways,
This is so true...My DH loves to smell my freshly washed hair and steals my pillow often (I got to steal it back while he's a sleep).
I cw often during the summer.

I have done it too MCrzyGR.:yep:
I have followed a man before, once or twice and asked them what they were wearing. And it was the following scents that got my attention (Pleasures, Curve or Aquai De Gio) And I bought them all for my husbands birthday or Christmas gift.

Prime example: The other day in the grocery store I followed the path of this guy who smelled heavenly, even though he definitely didn't go down the isle's I needed, lol! I wasn't interested in him at all, but he just smelled so wonderful that I decided to tail him sight unseen for a bit. Yes I know its wierd, but I am not the most normal of people.

This guy I used to go out with was around me one time I had gotten my hair pressed.

Guy says to me: "Oh wow, you got your hair done. Did they use a pressing comb to get it straight like that?"

I say to guy: "Yes, the stylist used a straight comb initially to get it straight after blow drying it."

Guy says to me: "That's what I thought, cuz your hair has that burnt smell like my sister's hair used to have when she used to get it pressed all the time when she was little."

Me: :perplexed:sad:

This reminds of when I was a senior in high school and the day we had to take senior pics, the boys were complaining all day that the hallways smelled like pressing combs :lachen::lachen:

Especially since starting this hair journey and washing 2 x each week, I've had compliments from about how fresh my hair smells. I love my hair being and smelling fresh too and find myself sniffing it from time to time. :yep: It's probably why men seem to love the Victoria Secret conditioner, as mentioned in the threads here. Men are mainly visual creatures but smells to come into play when attached to something they consider sensual. ;)

S.O came over to visit an hour ago and I'd just washed my hair. First thing he did was bury his face in my damp head "Mm! Smells so good!" and stayed there like...forever. :look: I love smell of shampoo too (herbal essence smells so yummy) so I can totally understand.

I completely agree.

My BF always commented on how I smelled after I got out of the shower. He loved whatever my afterwash was. I remember one time that I used this shea butter from Nigeria that had a bacony smell and he was not pleased.

That is soooo true. I can't see how some women not wash their hair at LEAST once a week. I'm sure glad we're not one of these "women". I'm not yet married but when that does happen, he is going to fall in love with my hair too lol.
