Are you protecting your ends? No. I have been wearing my hair down after I get my wash n sets!
How often do you mositurize? I moisturize Daily and seal with Olive Oil or Cator Oil
Do you DC often? 1-2x a week

Maybe it's time for trim...:look:... I clipped when I first relaxed a week ago, but its looking like I might have to, Just when I was getting close to APL...:nono:

After I read that Cathy Howes book she suggest not worrying so much about Split ends just moisturized your hair all the time. Since I been using her advice I notice the split ends are not as bad as they use to. I'm going to wait until next year to cut them.

Also sealing the ends with oil is really good, now i use coconut oil

I'm on the opposite with split ends. I say trim them. Because whats the use of bad ends when the rest of the hair is nice and healthy:nono: I think after a while, there is only so much moisturizing and sealing you can do. Start fresh. You won't even miss them :)

Pure coconut oil can be found at the health food store, Whole Food places like that.

The ones at the BSS has liquid vaseline in it!:ohwell:

How bad are your split ends? Do you have alot of shedding/breakage? Does your hair look frayed (sp?) and chewed up on the ends? Your pics don't look like it so its hard for me to tell. Maybe you just need to do a search and destroy instead of cutting off another 1/2 inch or so. Split ends are inevitable and I have yet to hear someone say they NEVER have them. At some point in time your going to get them because environmental factors also take part in the condition of your hair. If you aren't looking like a rag-a-muffin, find the split ends and cut only the split ends. You'd also have to keep trimming if you are trying to wear a blunt cut. Ask someone if your ends look tore up. Otherwise, keep doing what your doing and make sure your hair never dries out.

Also, you said you are DCing 2x/week - that may be too much DCing. Whats your regimen?

I clip my split ends when I see them, I just want to know the best way to prevent them but I guess they are normal.
I am just building my regime- I just took my hair out of an install and relaxed.
I wash my hair with CON poo and I DC with MMP. After washing and conditioning I rollerset and wrap. I moisturize with ORS Shae butter and Tea tree oil or NTM Silk Leave In and seal with Olive Oil or Castor Oil and wrap every night.
I just used Nexxus Emergence because my hair was permed from root to tip so I think all the split ends are resulting from that. I have never clarified! Should I??
TIA

Trim your ends, keep them moisturized, and start wearing you hair up (at least in a pony tail) more often. Stay away from wool!

the wrapping is probably causing them,I do the exactly same thing...my goodfriend who is MBL,told me to put my hair in one roller after I rollerset instead of wrapping, this has helped tremendously:yep:

Well, you seem to be on a good track so far and splits are indeed normal - not excessive breakage though. I wrap regularly and one thing I've started doing is not wrapping to tightly, making sure I'm using a satin scarf that's smooth (some have snags and will catch on to your hair) and when taking down the wrap, finger comb the hair out of the wrap first, then use the comb to shape it. Clarifying is usually done monthly to combat build up or use it when you notice you aren't getting the same results from your products. Using a protein around your relaxer is good but if you are a 4ab you definitely want to yield towards using more moisture as the weeks go by. Just keep an eye on what your hair is saying to you and check out your combs and brushes too. A preventive measure would be to invest in a bone comb or the like. Treat your hair like fine silk and you should be fine - Happy Hair Growing!

Do you try hard protein treatments such as Aphogee?

I heard it will postpone the need for trimming and mend split ends... preventing new ones from forming.

Perhaps you can try an Aphogee treatment to see how it works for you and then add it to your routine?

How can you really tell with split ends? Are you looking a single strand of hair to determine if it's split?

Yea I dont have a lot but everyday I kust inspect my ends and out of every shall I say 30 strands I would see 1 and I woould clip it, I mean it can be worst but I just want to know a way to prevent them as much as I can.

I have Aphogee at home and I think that I am going to use it today and see if that helps with taming them. Thanks!

I have noticed that being that I have my natural hair out I have been combing and playing with it often, I was also wearing it down when I had my wool jacket on 3 days in a row...that might have been the reason too...:look:
