My conditioners stopped working even after clarifying my hair? Im confused

hi ladies


I need your help on something. Have any one of you experienced this problem. I clarifying my hair with suave and then i proceeded to deep conditioner my hair with silicon mix and keracare humecto which always works wonders for my hair. Deep Conditioned for like 20 minutes and went to rinse out and my hair wouldnt detangle to save its life.So i rinsed again really well and then decided to use my kenra conditioner which also always works fine on my hair and detangles well. Deep Conditioned for another 20 minutes and rinse out.My hair was still tangled. i gave up and just spray some mane and tail detangler on my hair and it kinda helped for the most part but my hair wasnt as smooth as when i dc and rinse and detangle with those same conditioners before.i was able to rollerset but it took some time cause i had to still detangle each piece of hair before rolling and i never had to do that before..I am relaxed and almost two months a relaxer but it seem my ends were giving me more trouble than my roots. what could have possibly been going on?

no i havent.but isnt that the same as clarifying shampoo?

This has happened to me. It happened once when I started using Keracare 1st lather shampoo as my clarifying shampoo. That was before I found out that I had hard water. Keracare is not good for those with hard water. I started using Kenra Clarifying and it was all good after that.

Same thing happened to me a while ago. No matter what I did, how many times I clarified and deep conditioned, my hair just wasn't the same. It wasn't soft, smooth or easy to detangle anymore. It was really hard to manage and I was so frustrated. I chelated and everything went back to normal If you relax with no lye and have hard water, you probably need to chelate to get all of the mineral deposits out of your hair. A good cheap one that I used is ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo. HTH!

I'm co-signing on the ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo. I posted the same problem in the Herbal Essences thread and thanks to Tiffers' suggestion, chelating solved my problem completely.

I planned on buying that shampoo, now im definitely heading to the bss in a few minutes. i find it great that we can troubleshoot hair like this cause alot of people dont know this information.

does anyone know how to determine if your water is hard. I am pretty sure mines is hard but how do you know for sure

Chelating removes mineral deposits, such as those found in hard water, from your hair. I believe (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) the ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo is also used as a neutralizing shampoo since it also removes calcium build up that can be left behind after a no-lye relaxer.

Do a water test.

I am hiding this because I don't want them to get overloaded. I like the Robert Craig folks and I would hate to let em get hit with the LHCF power.

Okay Inches, here is another thing to look into, as well. I I have to say now that I don't think anything as cheap as Suave products can really solve problems but that is just me. But, for the sake of giving it a fair chance I will say this - just looked up the ingredients of Suave Claifying and it looks to be a shampoo that is fine for chelating.

Water Aqua , Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate , Ammonium Laureth Sulfate , Cocamide MEA , Ammonium Chloride , PEG-5 Cocamide , Cocamidopropyl Betaine , Fragrance Parfum , Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose , Tetrasodium EDTA , DMDM Hydantoin , Citric Acid , Dimethicone Copolyol , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , FD&C Blue No. 1 CI 42090 , D&C Red No. 33 CI 17200 , Ext. D&C Violet No. 2 CI 60730


BUT, there are some other things I noticed. This "clarifying" shampoo has silicone (Dimethicone Copolyol ) it it! Duh, clarifying shampoo is supposed to be getting rid of cones! Okay I think Dimethicone Copolyol may be water soluble, but still makes me wonder. Anyway, in case you do have hard water I think the citric acid and EDTA in this one is fine for removing mineral deposits (well as much as a $3 shampoo can ) and maybe it is not really clarifying your hair as much as you need it to. I say get the water test (see my last post) and try the ORS Aloe that has been suggested (great shampoo!). If that does not help, try a better quality clarifying shampoo. You can buy a nice one and it will last forever because its not like you use it often. Kenra Clarifying is my favorite. I like the CON clarifying, as well.

I am in 100% agreement! I find Suave to be kind of watered down for my taste. You need a better quality shampoo. The ORS Aloe works great without making your hair seemed dry.

The ORS shampoo is really good. I love it so much. I just tried it and my hair feels great. I followed with nacidit olive oil rinse and aphogee two minute reconstructor.. so far so good ladies. gonna go rollerset.
