I've run out of my staple shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner. so I am about to got to the store to restock. This is going to be on my list. I've heard good things about it.

How do you use it? As a deep conditioner or a pre poo?

Actually I use it after I DC, kind of as a final rinse to detangle my hair. I just put in on my hair detangle w/my fingers some, and then comb through w/the comb. Sometimes I don't rinse it all out because I Just love the way it makes my hair feel. I have also used it as a DC and left it on overnight, my hair was SUPER soft. If I have had twists in my hair I use it as a prepoo because my hair is usually pretty tangled after taking the twists out.

I am not sure if LeKair has SLS in it, but I LOVE it!!! I pre-poo both my and my daughters' hair with it weekly. I tried Lustrasilk and it was just OK to me. I quickly got back on my beloved LeKair.

I mix mine with coconut oil and leave it on for a few hours up to overnight (for all of our heads). It is a wonderful moisturizer and detangler.

I can't say that is had grown my hair faster, but it has certainly helped keep it moisturized, thus helping to retain growth.

Maintaining strength and keeping the hair from breakage

Ladies the verdict is out!

From the responses you submitted,
cholesterol evidently contributes to moisturizing and strengthening your hair, thus keeping it from breakage.

I'm going to go on a cholestoral challenge and keep you all updated on this inexpensive phonominal cream. Since I already purchased the Queene Helene with the SLS, I'll just use it as a co-wash on middays until I pick up some without the SLS.

Just one last item I'd like to mention. Very few verified whether cholestoral was a protein or moisturizer. What ingredients do I need to look for to indicate whether it is one or the other? I dont want to OD on the protein.

Thanks...

Here's my issue: Queen Helene has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it. That is what dries hair out from shampoo. I cannot figure out for my life why a conditioner contains SLS. It bothers me. Are there other cholesterols that don't?

LeKair's Cholesterol (the peach colored one) doesn't have SLS.:yep:

Queen Helen brand always left my hair feeling coated. I don't mind that if I'm wearing my hair up but wearing it down is a no no .

This is not a heavy protien condtioner. It is more of a moisturizing which is why it has a good slip and soft hair.

I've never used this before, but I stepped in Walgreens the other day and lo and behold wandered over to the hair aisle. I picked some up and I'm waiting till this weekend to try it when I'll have time to DC. I've used the Silk Elements moisturizing deep conditioner in the past and really liked it so I'm hoping to get similar results with this. :lick:

I think Walgreens has a sale on this conditioner right now! I'm pretty sure it's buy one get one free. I don't know when it will end though so...

ahhh the beloved ol school conditioner! I remember this being put in my head after that good wash in the sank! lol. I tries using it once I relaxed...hmmm i don't remember if I liked it that much. I was using the Queen Helene brand. Maybe I will try out one of the other ones. Doesn't one brand have an aloe formula?

I use it sometimes as a prepoo. Leaves my hair pretty soft. My mom used to use it on my hair for years when I was younger. My hair was definitely healthier at that time. From the responses on this forum, I think I am going to use it more often. I have 2 jars in my closet from when I got it on sale at Walgreens (buy one get one free)! There's also some good reviews on it at the walgreens website. You should read them at www.walgreens.com

I believe Lekair has Aloe Vera in it

QH cholesterol cream has been a staple of mine for years. It leaves my hair hair hydrated and adding EVOO helps my hair retain moisture as well as boost up the shine. I use it with heat after every wash, and I wash 3 times per week. I have tried mixing it with vatika oil, egg, honey and amla powder for a DC and the results were amazing. Recently I mixed a dollop of QH with amla powder, fenugreek powder, vatika and honey. My hair looks and feels incredible. I find that QH makes a good, thick creamy 'base' for adding other ingredients for DCs. I have not used as a prepoo before. I always use it on damp hair. As for the SLS, they help me see if I have finished rinsing out all the product. I rinse until I see no more bubbles in the drain and the water is clear. I follow with a cowash to remove excess oil (I skipped this step once and my hair was very oily from the added EVOO or vatika). My hair has never felt or looked coated afterwards. Many years ago, a salon I frequented used to DC my hair with Seabstian 2+1, which is 2 parts moisture cream to 1 part protein. I am considering making a substitute with my QH cream and my Aphogee Intensive Keratin Reconstructor condish.

I have a big professional size tub of QH Cholesterol. Got it from National Wholesale Liquidators for $7.99. I'll have to revisit this tub after I use up my other conditioners.

It seems to help with moisture and breakage therefore you can maintain your growth better.

My thoughts EXACTLY.
I cant wait to start using this and seeing the results. I peeked by co-workers daughters hair today and I am just so blown away with the results of her using this and it really working.

Seeking: More good reports....

I third this
I have some in the closet. I forget this is what i was using last year as a dc. And i grew a whole lot of my hair last year. And my DD.
I wonder how this well feel on my texlaxed sections. But it did work fine on my DD's hair.

Question how much oil are you ladies putting in?

Hello All!

I am a newbie and total PJ! I read this thread and ran out to buy some! My hair is extremely dry. I've been conditioning for the past two weeks, moisturizing and sealing and my hair is still looks dry although to the touch it is slightly greasy from the EVOO. Hopefully, the cholestrol treatments will work.

Cinda,

I want to hear your results...First time results anyone?

I have done the cholestrol treatment three times so far. The last two times I added evoo to the top of my hair. I do the treatment on dry hair. Then Co-Wash. I sat under the hooded dryer for 30 mins. on medium heat. My hair is definetly softer. More moisturized not at all. My hair is really really dry. When I was younger my scalp was really really dry and so was my skin. My hairdresser used to give peppermint oil treatments and use peppermint shampoo on my hair because why hair would flake so bad after a few minutes of being washed. My scalp is no longer dry but my hair still is. I use a ton of oil to keep it looking moist.

I will continue with the cholestrol treatments and report back.

That's it! I'm going to the BSS today after work to pick up some Queen Helene's AND some LeKair's Cholesterol! Either way, I'm going to find which one of these products works!

I don't have a problem with growth per se, but more so retaining the length that I get, so if this helps with breakage, then by all means, I'm getting myself some! :D

Something in it -- maybe the mineral oil - made my hair harder than I expected. When I was rinsing there was no slip really. I glopped on damp hair, threw some saran wrap and a scarf over it, and kept it in overnight. I think I will add some moisturizing ingredients or cut it with a cheapie that gives lots of slip (like the VO5 w/ silk) to make it easier to rinse. I just bought a conditioning cap too - so I will see if it works better with heat.

It is a nice thick base for DC mixes though - doesn't even drip!

I like thick DC's too, but my hair just don't cause they are so thick. It makes my hair just clump together and I can't even comb them through it when its in to evenly distribute it. But like the fact that its so thick and rich like it really will do its job.

The first time I tried it on dry on hair then washed it, I didn't get favorable results either. The directions call for you to wash first, then condition. The next time I followed directions and the results were amazing. I mix my cholestoral with EVOO too.

Hmmm:look:. You make this sound yummy:lick: Medmunky. I may consider getting this cholesterol again. My mom also used to buy this for us when my sister and I were younger and my hair used to be very healthy and bouncy.
