How do you style your hair? Are you sensitive about your forehead? Do you choose to cover or not?

I have a high forehead and while I was tormented for many years when I was younger, I've embraced it (to a point). I get really angry when stylists try to hide it when styling but I haven't come to a point where I can wear a straight back ponytail.

What's your experience been like?

Sometimes I do a sideswept bang, but not as often as I used to. When I was younger there was no way I was going out of the house without hair over my forehead. Now I'm more comfy wearing my hair straight back off my face.

Big forehead sista checking in...I have a protruding forehead like Rihanna. When I was younger, I use to get teased alot! LOL... They use to call me and my sister the HILL HEAD SISTERS...Kids are so damn cruel. Now I could care less. I wear my hair all back in one ponytail 80% of the time. I haven't had bangs in years. When I wear my hair out, I part it down the middle or to the side. Confidence is something. When you show you are insecure regarding a certain aspect of yourself people can sniff it out and will play on it.

Okay, this is the craziest post that I am responding to...:yep:

MsC can also stand for MsCranium. :peek2: I have a big ol' 4head. I also was taunted as a child and it was miserable. Would never leave the house without my bangs - full on tilt boogie. Now I do a side sweep of bangs but don't mind brushing them over to the side. I am so much more comfortable with it but it took years!!

Five head sistah checking in.

It's funny that you bring this topic up, because I was just talking to my sister about it. I recently realized that I have worn bangs to cover up my forehead since I was 9 years old. That is a long time to have bangs. I was teased mercilessly as a child and it obviously affected my hairstyling decisions throughout my life.

But no longer. I'm currently growing my bangs out as we speak. I've never NOT had bangs as an adult, and I can't wait to rock my five head with pride!!

Holla!!

I too have a Rihanna/Tyra Banks forehead. When I was younger I would plaster a bang to my head because i was so self conscious. Whenever the wind blew, my hand would automatically go to my head to hold it down. When I first went natural, it was great, I felt so free and beautiful, with my sixhead...now I love my bone structure and don't mind wearing my hair slicked back.

Lately, I've been wearing side swept bangs when I flat iron. I'm going to relax soon and I will probably just wear a side part.

My forehead is HUGE! But guess what, I'm cute:rolleyes: so I don't mind lol. I wear my hair pulled back and sometimes I cover it but not out of fear simply because my look of the day might have bangs:lachen:Yea I change my hair that often using wigs/weaves/and more weave!!!:drunk:

:yep: Those are my exact thoughts. Down to the T!

i wear a side swept bang. i just find that i look better when everything appears to be in proportion, so I style my hair accordingly.

I used to do the side-swept bang all the time!! Now I just let my big fo'head shine!!!!!!

Plus this african guy told me I looked like an african princess because of my "regal" forehead:look:

Stop the presses, look at your hair! How lovely! Do you have a Fotki I can stalk?

Exactly! It took me a long time to stop wearing bangs. When I was younger I would never think of not having bangs. Now I proudly show my forehead.

I look at all the beautiful models with high foreheads. Tyra, Iman, Beverly Johnson etc.

FUN-E.... I always have bangs, except now I am in braids and I have been rocking them off my head in a ponytail....growing up it is always something, I have FULL (ok big) lips, a big forehead and pimples...despite ALL those "flaws" couldnt tell me I wasnt the cutest thing this side of the Mississippi

:blowkiss:

I have a fotki with the same two pics. I have a bunch of pics that I never have time to load to the fotki. I'm also becoming more apprehensive when I hear about the real stalkers!! I really need to get it together. :thankyou:

Iman was also the reason why I started feeling more comfortable as well. Also, don't laugh - look at a barbie doll - she's got an 8 head! Especially the original design.

My name is Studio_gal and I have a 5-head.

I wear my hair slicked back into a bun most of the time and I look good.
In fact I get complemented a lot since I've been doing it. I have good skin and I smile a lot, so thats what people see first (well thats what I tell myself :look:)

Shine your forehead - wear it with pride!

I'm not happy with the overall shape and size of my head in general.
I still wont wear a ponytail without the side sweep like in my sig pic and avator.:nono:
I've seen many women with high foreheads and they're beautiful. I think my prob has to do with more than the forehead.:drunk:

I wear my hair pulled back everyday with a scarf or a headband with my half wig! Before, I couldnt leave my house without a bang or SOMETHING in the front, now it doesn't even matter. When I wear my own hair out, I do wear a side swept bang, but that's just because I think it looks cute!

I can wear it all pulled back, but one thing I wont do is a center part :nono:...

My uncle used to tell me the same thing! It's one of the reasons why I became more comfortable with it.

I have a five head too....but I don't hide it ...I do have bangs cut..but I rarely them.....I think my forehead is part of my beauty..Look at Tyra Banks, Imani, Naomi Campbell.......They're forehead is a part of their beauty and their uniqueness ...Here my forehead...Big ...LOL..and proud

the bangs i used to wear were the really short blunt cut bangs. just above the eyebrow

.

I adooored these bangs. they framed my face so well and covered my rhianna forehead without covering my fresh eyebrows:grin:. But now-a-days i just let my forehead do all the talking for me. I've covered it up from 2nd grade - soph. year college. I mean every single day i wore bangs, so it feels great to finally not have to deal with it. but i still hate my forehead

Thanks for responding y'all! You know what's funny? Everytime someone wants to say something bad about Tyra (or a woman in general with a 5,6, or 8 head), they ALWAYS go for the forehead. I wonder why that is...

My uncle used to tell me they were envious.:lachen:

Dang it, another forehead sistah checking in. For me, I never had a problem with my forehead going bare. Although I have rocked bangs but only just for a styling purpose though. But when I got into a bad car accident right after my high school graduation, I was VERY forehead conscious, because I got a big gash on my forehead from it. But even after it healed, I still kept it covered with my hair. After awhile, I just didn't care if anyone seen that gash on my forehead and wore my greasy and scarred forehead proudly without so much as being self conscious anymore. I still have that scar, but it no longer bother me like it did right after the accident. And I'm currently sporting a TWA, forehead and all, and I'm still proud LOL

He was just saying that, it's not true. :nono: :lachen:
