A co-worker of mine has two children that have hair that have grown considerably long (BSL) in the last few months. Her response to what she is doing....
"Queene Helene Cholestoral"
She told me that a beautician told her that it helps to stop any breakage before it even starts, thus maintaining length.

Trust me ladies, these girls had neck length hair in May. They both have BSL hair now.

Ok, so I did a search on the boards today and everyone with pictures that claim they use cholestoral as a conditioner has long hair.

Here are my Questions:
  1. Is cholestoral a protein or moisturizing conditioner?
  2. If you use it, do you wash 1st or do you use it as a pre-poo?
If you concur with what I'm saying(good growth and strengthening), talk to me about your successes with cholestoral.

:wallbash: Don't-do-it-must-not-go-back-to-being-a-PJ-must-RESIST!

I've used it years ago but didn't notice a amazing growth. Maybe I will try it again. Must-resist!

Is this the yellow stuff in a jar. I think it does contain protein. im not to sure, It may not be the same as what i am thinking of.

Its a moisturizing conditioner. I use Lekair Cholesterol all the time. It is similar to Queen Helene's. My mother used it on my hair when I was a little girl. My hair was very healthy then so I use it now. It makes my hair really soft and its a good detangler.

I use it and i don't contribute it to faster growth. Although I'm sure it is helping me retain length. I use it about once a month without heat. I keep it on my hair for about a day or 2 and then I'll wash it out. I'm basically just depending on my natural body heat to soak the product into my hair and then i just wait until the next time i cowash to wash it out. My hair does feel really good after using it.

I love cholesterol. It makes it easier for me to comb my hair, the comb just slips through and I'm natural. So I can see how it would help prevent breakage.

I love and its one of my staples. I used it all last year. I sit under the dryer w/a plastic cap for 15-20 minutes like the directions.hth

when my mom use to take care of my sisters and my hair she always used a cholesterol conditioner we had healthy longer hair i recently started on this hair thing and it was the first to be added back into my regime. some cholesterols have mineral oil like Lekair and Queen Helen.. but my hair seems to love it !

How old are her children and how does she style their hair?

15 and 7. They both have relaxers. The oldest wears her hair going back with flips that hit her shoulders. The youngest wears her hair parted from ear to ear with a pony tail on top and the back just straight down.

I prepoo with it on both my daughters, on dry hair with a cap, and let them run around the house for a few hours. They both have a LOT of hair, one with BSL and the youngest with MBL.

Its a great way to soften the hair before detangling.

I use it religiously. It works better than any other moisturizing conditioner I have besides my CON recon. Its an excellent detangler and its one the few products that has been in my regimen since the beginning. And at $3 a jar or $10 for 5 lbs. its easy of the products of this PJ!

I use Queene Helen Cholesterol when I conditioner wash. It's not exactly a protein treatment. It conditions dry over-bleached and damaged hair. So I would definitely say it's more of a moisturizing conditioner. I have been using if for about 2 years now. It's good stuff in my book:yep:

How do you use it? As a deep conditioner or a pre poo?

You can:

1.Apply to wet or dry hair and leave it in your hair for an hour and then rinse out.
2. Deep condition with it for 30-45 minutes.
3. Conditioner Wash- Jump in shower, rinse hair, apply conditioner, finish showering up and then rinse out IF you choose to conditioner wash with it, make sure you clarify more often.
4. Or Pre-poo

The choice is yours:grin:

I will use Queen Helen or LeKair. I use it as a prepoo a day or too before wash day. I will even slather it in my hair, wrap my hair in a bun, slap on a baseball cal and go running or to workout--this with my body heat makes for a multitasking dep conditioner treatment!

You are singing my song girl. Since I returned to Queen Helene as a big part of my reggie my hair has been healthier. I use it as a DC, sometimes as an overnight pre-poo mixed with a little oil. Occasionally in a pinch (as in my hair is extra super fluffy) I'll use it with a satin scarf to lay down my edges. My hair loves it.

i know a few people that swear by it and their hair is beautiful and that is all they use for the most part

i have some here and i am unsure how exactly to use it. i was using it weekly but it was making my hair too mushy. especially since i use con shamp/cond already

maybe i will use it only when i use my garlic shampoo. *shrug*

i used the queen helen cholestorol conditioner all through my teen and young adult yrs. i find that it works best when my hair is relaxed. it always left my hair shiney and soft. i cannot say that it makes hair grow but it deffinately imparted sheen and softness. when i am natural however, i find that the only way i get the full benefit from this product is when i mix it with other things. all ans all though i think its a good product.

this is a good idea.

Here's my issue: Queen Helene has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it. That is what dries hair out from shampoo. I cannot figure out for my life why a conditioner contains SLS. It bothers me. Are there other cholesterols that don't?
