does anyone have any texturizing/texlaxing regrets. I have been toying with the idea of texturizing and cannot make up my mind. Please share your stories:grin:

I regret texturizing my hair. My hair is healthier overall now than it ever has been but the texturized lengths/ends are rougher than the rest of my hair and can get tangly -- really tangly. I'm pretty sure this is cuticle damage from the texturizer.

I just got my hair texlaxed Thursday last week after 2 years of natural hair. As soon as the relaxer hit my head I knew it would be easier to care for from now on. I'm very happy with my decision:yep:

When I was texlaxed, I didn't really care for it. Had I not gone natural, I definitely would have gone back to relaxing straight.

It took a lot to get my hair dry and straight. My rollersets weren't smooth, I had to detangle constantly, and it was way too thick.

I texturized in 2005 (after being natural for about 6 months) and initially it was really gorgeous but it was very hard to maintain and shed sooo much. I ended up going back to natural. There seems to be a lot better advice around now for relaxing, texlaxing and texturizing, so I think I would have better luck if I did it again, but I'm not sure. I need to at least reach APl before I try anything risky. I've been natural almost two years now and I can't risk any setbacks.

I have done it and I don't regret it one bit, But it is all a matter of preference, I like it because I can still have my curls but managable and I can still have some shine, But my hair is still healthy & growing and CURLY!!! I have no shedding or breakage!!!!

I don't regret texturizing at all (I'm comparing this to being relaxed straight). I think it really depends on your texture. My hair is fine and being relaxed straight just isn't an option because it leaves my hair really thin and lifeless. Being texturized allows me to get rollersets and have straight hair, but also wear wash-n-gos. I know that if my hair texture were coarse it wouldn't come out the same and my hair would be able to withstand having a straighter relaxed look.

This is me too. I have no regrets whatsoever about texlaxing. I was natural when I texlaxed. It was the best decision for my hair due to all the tangling, knots, and not knowing how to do protective styles on my hair. Once I texlaxed I starter retaining length again.

I don't regret texlaxing one bit. I don't have to deal with knots anymore or 5+ hour long twisting sessions. I like how I can wear my hair straight with much more ease but still wear it with texture if I want.

I use a texturizer and i think it works great. I actually haven't had a retouch in 7 months, lol (next retouch will be in March), but I feel like using a texturizer gives me this option. I'm not seeing much breakage at all because my hair was never relaxed bone straight. I agree with NappyParadise, it's a matter of preference. If you like to wear your hair bone straight all the time, you might not like it as much, but if you're ok with it just loosening your curls and taming the frizz, then it might work nicely for you.

see i love textured curly fros. What i dodn't like is using half a bottle of product to get the look or forever and a day to detangle. Straightening:look:, I do it about it twice a year, but don't really care for it. I want my hair to look dry, the way it looks when its wet. I wonder if texturizing can do that?

I dont really have regrets. i didnt like my texturizer until after i did color. that is when it stopped being curly and just made tangles and fuzz but now that im natural i dont really want to go back anytime soon. id rather just cut my hair to manageable length than to put in another chemical. that was my first relaxer so I guess i never really got into the relaxin and touchup thing.
