Pulling hair in a scruchie...and tucking the ends in the scrunchie...

Curling hair daily

Not protecting my ends

Relaxing every 4 weeks

Bonded weaves...

Colored hair (esp bleached) that is relaxed and not well moisturized.

All I can say is Pink Oil Moisturizer and Black gel. Oh yeah, let's jam with it's sodium hydroxide ingredient. God bless this site.

  • Small tooth combs
  • Relaxer from roots to tip then using a small tooth comb to comb it through your hair (My bf's mom used to do this to me, NEVER AGAIN WILL SHE TOUCH MY HAIR!)
  • Braiding hair and using spritz to keep the weave connected to the hair (My bf mama did this to me, I lost 3 inches of hair... NEVER AGAIN)
  • Using hard brushes to stimulate the scalp (My BF mama keep tryna tell me this works...NO NO NO!)
  • Using a Flat iron everyday
  • Not protecting hair with a satin/silk bonnet while sleeping
  • Going without washing your hair for long periods of time
  • Using moisturizers with mineral oil and petroleum (I just went off on my mama the other day about this).
  • Flat ironing dirty hair
  • Hair grease :barf:
  • Tight braids
  • Weave in for extremely long periods of time
  • Not DC'ing!

Specific sights:
* People who keep their extensions in months and months without washing or moisturising.
:wallbash:Not even going to lie this is so me NOW...I am too scared to wash my hair I paid $225 for my hair and dont want it to go down the drain...But I do scrub my scalp with Witch Hazel does that help?:ohwell:

Grease and using them straight up rubberbands (with no cloth) for my ponytails.

BUT....

The #1 thing I can't stand is when I see a little girl with a whole bunch of them TOO-TIGHT ponytails all through her head (to the point where her eyes look slanted). I just want to take them babies around the corner for a second and loosen them ponytails. But you can't say nothin to folks about their kids unless you feel like being insulted or cussed out and I just don't take the risk. Maybe I'll get brave and just square up one day:boxing:...

Sleeping on anything with no silk or satin head scarf. Now I keep my hair protected at all times:yep:.

i hate small teeth combs as well. I used to use them all the time and my hair is really think. :ohwell:

I also just got really upset at my cousin for relaxing her 4 year old's hair. it was curly, bouncy, and gorgeous, but of course, to her it was N**ga hair. And now the poor child's hair is frizzy all the time. her naturalness is gone. That upset me to my heart. :nono:

I know your question wasn't directed at me, but I'm gonna be nosey and butt in

Before LHCF, I thought a perm and relaxer were the same too. But I found out that a relaxer is what we use, it straightens out your hair. Perms are what white folks use, perms make your hair curly. HTH!

The white folks stuff straightens hair as well; I know stylists that use that perm on black folks. The white folks hair comes out curly only because they use those rods to set the curl (like how we used to do jherri curls). When the stylists use it on black hair, they don't use the curlers so the hair is straightened.

Thanks, ladies! LHCFIAFOK (LHCF is a fountain of knowledge)

i still use fine toothed combs. i dont know how i would do rollersets without them. what use a wide toothed comb?:lachen:that aint gonna work! and it smooths my waves so i dont have to brush

what makes me cringe is my mom detangling her hair natural 4a/b hair DRY after leaving her hair in cornrows for 6 weeks with out moisturizing or washing them, with a cheap paddle brush. i saw a big hair ball in the waste bin and thought it was some type of animal:nono: she refuses to use my wide toothed comb

Wow, what exactly did you have done to your hair single extensions? Why was the price so high:perplexed

I tell you one thing to save money please consider other ways to protect that you can also wash with, including doing your own extensions coz it saves a lot of money:look:

I was just saying what makes me cringe but if your comfortable with it then do you, still its the smell that gets me and the flakes that build up if you get dry scalp patches:ohwell: You need to wash and moisturise to keep the hair in good condition aswell while in braids, do you use braid spray?

Ms B

U really should put some water in ur head with ur extensions. Because even though ur using witch hazel, ur scalp is still feeling uncomfortable right? Listen girl, i've had all types of braids imaginable and have been doing my own extensions for years. If ur nervous, dilute ur shampoo and conditioner with water to lessen the buildup. U can still wash ur braids the same way u would ur own hair, just be more gentle and dont scrub ur hair down like a maniac lol

back to the topic
i hate:

* people who get a relaxer and then don't wash their hair again until the next relaxer (ill I used to do that)
*slappin on the grease to lay hair into submission(i used to do that)
*blow drying or flat ironing hair with HIGH temperature to make sure it sits just right(I was the QUEEN of this)
*flat ironing hair especially when its dirty because it "sits" better (oh boy did i do this!)

:lachen: I'm sorry, but that just reminded me of my momma - I would see the same thing, and I didn't know any better!! I thought it was NORMAL!! :nono:

:look: I still use small toothed combs too - just use them on equally tiny pieces of hair.

Okay cringes:

* watching anyone brush their hair dry. I wanna run and hand them some oil, or moisturizer, or SOMETHING.

* super-tight braids. Man, I really did think they were 'tugging' my hair out of my scalp. :nono:

* Rubberbands on the END of braids - not the ends, ya'll, not the ends!!

Flat ironing my hair and spritzing it with holding spray, flatiron is on the highest setting and hearing my hair sizzle. And running the iron over my two and three times. I used to do this every Sunday evening:nono:

Wow...one of the things that literally kept my hair fried was when I used to saturate each section of my hair with hairspray and then apply the curling iron. I held the curling iron to each section for at least a minute because I figured that all the sizzling and burning meant that the curl was really going to hold! :wallbash:

Also...relaxing from root to tip every month!

  • My mom using a relaxer to straighten her hair whenever her hair gets frizzy or "sweated" out, instead of simply flat-ironing it. :wallbash:
  • My mom who will get a relaxer at 2 weeks post
  • People who will get a sewn-in weave back to back, to back, to back...no "breathing" periods, but "they're growing their hair out"..............:lachen:
