Are you having any trouble with this? I mean, I have no problem going no poo, but when it's time to straighten w/ the maxiglide (once a month) i'd be nervous about not washing my hair first with traditional shampoo. Can you add some insight?

Most that co wash, once a month clarify - whether baking soda or clarifying poo.

So the oils, etc...do get removed once a month in the clarifying process.

Yeah, I'd be concerned about that as well...kinda like back-in-the-day when we used to use the hot curler on dirty hair...yuk

See, i want to move away from poo's indefinitely so i can't go the clarifying route. I guess I will have to do a search on this baking soda method. I just wonder how clean my hair will really get.

i co-wash a lot.

but whenever i press my hair, i wash with shampoo and then deep condition. i thought this way would give better results with the press.

Yea, I see what you're saying. I use a lot of oils, so I'd be a little weary of adding heat on top of that too. If I were to use heat, I would clarify and follow up with a moisturizing shampoo.

I'm not gonna lie though...I cheated last night a straightened a little section of hair in my nape...and I didn't use shampoo beforehand, actually my hair needed washing :look:... I know that's bad! But that Maxiglide made my hair feel so good! It was actually softer than the rest of my hair. So judging from experience...I don't think it would have an ill effect on the health of your hair.

About the size of a square bar of soap. I've had mine since Nov and wash once a week.

Thats good to hear. I just got my oyin poo bar and i can tell its not going to last long :perplexed It also left a buildup on my daughters hair, prolly mine too but i can't see my scalp. I was parting her hair for some plaits and I see build up.
