I made progress to this:

I BC on Feb 07 to this:

11 Months later I am now at this:

I used Sedu to straighten - I was amazed at how it straightened the roots one swipe. It works better than my maxiglide. My ends did not straighten so well - don't know why.

My hair grows slower than the normal - less than .5" but I am encouraged to see that it is growing and I am able to retain something. I will leave it in peace for a while.

Great work, your hair looks thick and healthy and I too am a great fan of the Sedu iron!!

I am amazed at the progress you have made in such a short space of time. Your hair does not grow slow at all!! What vitamin regime do you have if you have one?

Your hair looks great! Congrats.
I especially like this pic: :yep:, it looks so thick and healthy.

Sometimes I think when your hair grows slower its coming out stronger:yep:

Girl it looks like nothing is holding you back, and you have a lovely head of hair that really just gave me a lot of encouragement since I'm thinking about BCing this year:grin:

THANKS LADIES FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT!!

Yes, MiamiSunshine - it doesn't grow as fast as others but it's enouraging to other non-fast hair growers like myself to hang in there:yep:. When I first BC, I was like "Oh OMG, when will it ever get back to my relaxer length? I would hate to wait 2 years!" See, it didn't take that long and I didn't do anything special with the regimen.

Immediately after I BC, I used to wash daily - I couldn't braid because it was too short. Then when I was able to braid, I micro once - it was not for me:lachen:. I wore it on and off in box braids until it got to about 2-3" then I stopped braiding with extensions because I realized the ends were getting trashy (the parts that were exposed through the braids) plus the braider was always trimming the exposed ends so it blends in with the braids. As a result, my hair seems to get shorter with braid extensions.

I then decided to co-wash every 3 days with the shakaira powder and oil the scalp with tea tree oil and Brahmi Hair Oil periodically and that's when my hair truly turned around. No pills except a centrum multi and fish oil.

I am amazed at the progress you have made in such a short space of time. Your hair does not grow slow at all!! What vitamin regime do you have if you have one?

:clap::clap: I am so happy for you! I just had the same experience last week!!! I BCed at the end of November. I had been stretching since July. I just straightened it for the first time last weekend and discovered that my hair is back to its relaxer length, too! I was considering going back to the relaxer, but discovered how easy it was to straighten my hair and decided I didn't want to give up all of the benefits of natural hair after this.

My ends didn't straighten that well either!! What is that about? My roots were super silky though. I straightened with a curling iron I've had since forever. I threw out all my other heat appliances and kept this one in case of emergencies. I wish I had documented my progress.

Thanks for your encouraging words Micarae, Jdub, Cocomama, Lov3my, and Wildchild – wow! I love your progress too!
