This is the dryer used at EVERY salon I've ever been to

My hair always comes out shiny. What is the difference between that one and this one?

Also, why does the description on the 512 and 514 say to make sure your hair is pinned down because of the upward flow of air?

Took me forever to find this.....but it explains it well:

The best thing I like about the Pibbs is the FAN. My other dyer had all those small little holes that keeps puffing out heat on the same spots continuously making for an unevenly dried head, imho. It would still be wet in some spots and crunchy dry in the others. The Pibbs distributes heat well, and you dont have to use as much of it. Notice compared to cheaper dryers the Pibbs tends to have less wattage and lower available temp settings, because it doesnt need it .

plus that other one is too big...............and stationary.

And you need a hair net because of the upflow of the fan.

Please help. I am going to go to the dryer store Saturday.:perplexed

My DS salon has both models. They use the one you posted for DCs and hot oil treatments or anything else before the rollerset. After rollersetting, everyone sits under the 512s. (They have a row of about 20 of them). It looks and works like an assembly line :spinning: but all heads come out beautiful.

What's a dryer store?

Thanks! They are both Pibbs. So the big one doesn't have the fan?

As OAHQ explained.....the way the air is circulated with the fan makes all the difference.

For myself a set under the first one would take 1 hr 30 min to dry. A set under the pibbs Kwik have me out in 45 min flat. All while the Pibbs Kwik uses less power.

The major difference is the 1st pic you posted is meant to fit into a stationary chair to sit in a salon. The Pibbs that we're all buying is on wheels, so it's able to be moved around and you can sit under it using any chair.

ETA: They're both Pibbs and they're the same quality, just different styles or models.
