Clarifying question...

There is nothing wrong with prepooing your ends, I think doing your entire head would be:ohwell:. Are you just clarifying or chelating as well?

Chelating is clarifying taken to the next level. It removes mineral deposits from hard water as well as chlorine and product build-up, but also moisturizes the hair. Joico has a good chelating shampoo as well as Kenra. Chelating would only be necessary if you live in an area known for hard water but I would recommend it anyway a couple times a year for those that don't have hard water.

Thanks for defining - only clarifying this weekend.

Are neutralizing shampoos (for after relaxers) and chelating shampoos the same thing? I noticed that my Mizani neutralizing shampoo says it is a chelating shampoo.

No, they are different. However, Mizani Neautralizing and Chelating shampoo happens to do both( I have that shampoo too). Neutralizing shampoos bring down the pH of your hair and chelating shampoo removes mineral buildup and deposits from the hair. If you use a no-lye relaxer, using a chelating shampoo is also recommended to be used occasionally. There are shampoos that are only neutralizing, shampoos that only chelate and there are some that do both. ORS creamy aloe shampoo and Profectiv Neutralizing mousse are others that do both as well.
