Ladies, I've been using my MN and I know we are supposed to place it directly on the scalp, but I can't help but to always get it on the New Growth as well. I use my finger. Is there a better way?

I used mn briefly over a year ago, so I'm probably not the best person to reply...but most ladies don't use it directly... they mix it w/some type of oil concoction and put it an applicator bottle...that's what I did.. it makes it a little easier to apply directly to the scalp... it's to be expected that some will probably get on your hair (i don't believe it's damaging especially if you mix w/oils).. also, i heard of ladies mixing it w/sulfur 8 and "greasing" their scalps w/it. hth

I use my finger, but I am also looking for a better way of applying it. My mix has castor oil, carrot oil, sulfur 8, Evoo, moisturizer and 2 tubes of MN.

I selected finger. However, I use both the finger and applicator bottle method. I mix my MN so it's a creamy oil consistency and apply it using a tipped applicator...I can't remember if it's a 6 or 8 oz bottle but it has a black cap. I just squeeze a little into the parts and rub the mixture on my scalp.

I also mix my MN so it's a creamy oil consistency and apply it using a tipped applicator, so I selected "other."

I use my finger but mine is super creamy...runny...I think that I added too many oils. I think I may try mixing a tube with a drop or two of peppermint oil and a tablespoon of Hollywood castor oil. I have new growth....course I want more ..... I wonder can you add too much to the mix and 'kill' the effectiveness.

Okay, I may sound slow...but what the heck is "MN"?? What does MN stand for? I keep seeing these new posts about MN this and MN that, and I don't even know what it means. And it's not in the "Accronyms" sticky... :(

Can someone please fill me in? :look:

Girl you don't sound slow. Up until about 3 days ago, I didn't know what it was either. It's miconazole nitrate, the active ingredient in vaginal cream, an anti fungal or what not. you apply it to the scalp and it aids in growth. I went and picked some up and I'm already seeing growth! Like I said, its only been about 3 days or so. I just got a fresh perm so I'm so amazed. I bought the family dollar brand. I just did a poll to see which is the best and most people agree that this one is. Most people mix it with something else like sulfur 8 or something. I mix mine with Bountless Tressess. Girl, this stuff is a charm.

Songbird, I am about to mix me up some of this today! But I want to know, how do you know that after three days that what you have is ng and not reversion? I've been wondering about this for awhile. anyone else can chime in on this as well, thanks!

I've never had a problem with reversion before, none of my relaxers have ever given me this problem and I'm pretty sure it isn't because since I just wanted to test out this product in the first place, I only applied it to my slow growing area, the right side of my hair. When I compared it to my left side, there's no "new growth" on that side but my right side has maybe a quarter of a mm of growth, which ain't much, but usually I don't start seeing anything until alot later. Unless you are suggesting that the product itself might be causing reversion, then I don't know. Either way, I'm pretty optimistic and believe that its growth, so I'm gonna stick on that note and hope for the best. Hope this helps.

I use an applicator bottle w/ the pointy tip which makes it soo much easier to apply to my scalp that using my finger

I accidently selected "applicator brush" on the poll b/c I thought it said "applicator bottle" at first glance:wallbash:...so officially, I vote "other"

Oh! Okay...thanks girl! :)

Wow...I didn't know that vaginal cream could aid in hair growth! I wonder what's in it that causes the hair growth exactly? Is it the MN itself? Or, is it something else in the cream?

Finger..I finally restocked and made my concoction again after like 2 weeks...I wish I wasnt so lazy! I mean, I finally found something that gives me proven results and I'm loafting...I need a good slap

the mn itself. some girls even use neosporin af because it has mn. its amazing, right? lol.

I use my fingers.

However after 2 days using it i've had an interesting side effect. I had a pimple (menstrual breakout) around my hairline. It was only one but one of those stubborn ones that you dont even see any white or black, it was just painful. I applied my mixture quite well to my edges of my hairline but as you know the mixture tends to not stay in exact place. That pimple cleared up already when it would have normally taken me at least a week using over the counter product for a pimple. I would not recommend to anyone to do this but the antibacterial properties of MN has helped me extra. I wont mention the hair yet because its only been two days.

MN has anti-fungal properties. But I'm glad it worked for you! :yep:

Well I just started this experiment yesterday, and I started by doing it with my finger on my scalp. Then I remembered from previous posts about MN, about using an applicator bottle. And I didn't have any handy until I realized that I had a bottle of WGO from 2 years ago, and I dumped that into a smaller container. I then rinsed the bottle out real good and put my MN mixture in it, and just pointed the tip of the bottle onto my scalp, I don't even part my hair or anything, and it turns out just right for me. Whereas when I first did it with my fingertips, it left my hair kinda greasy like.

When I had cornrows, it was easy to apply with my fingers; now that they are out, (and BTW, I am real, real knappy; like I-could-hit-my-head-on-a-concrete-block-and-not-feel-it-knappy!) I still just pour some out on the countertop and apply with my fingers.

HTH!

I might be wrong but I thought "Nothing will make hair that has been chemically relaxed go back to its natural state or revert." I'm applying MN (when i remember to lol) with my fingers...i need to find a bottle :wallbash:

old WGO bottle. works perfectly and doesnt leave hair feeling greasy. plus i had a feeling that if i had to mix it up every night and use my finger that i wouldnt do it as often as i should.

I get down and dirty with it!

I use my fingers to apply and maassage it into my scalp. A little will get on the roots of your hair but, it is harmless. Just don't apply it directly to your hair.

I (1) tube of Family Dollar MN to (1) jar of ORS Tea Tree Oil.
