Which relaxer do you use?

I'm due for a touch up the end of this month. Been relaxing every 12 weeks the past year. I was using Motions for a few years but it seemed that it wasn't getting my hair as straight as I liked (not bone). Maybe my hair doesn't tolerate it any more.

Unfortunately the last two years I lived in a place where the only beauty supply was Walmart so I was was forced to buy no lye box kits for the past year after I ran out of lye(took them with me). But I'm back home now where I have tons of options and I can buy lye relaxers in the jar.

So I'm looking for a new relaxer to try. What do you use and how has it worked for you?

I use Affirm relaxer. It works very well for me. My hair is dry though, but I suppose all relaxers do that. HTH:yep:

I use Elasta QP lye in the mild formula. Works for me, I like it cause my hair still has body after relaxing.

Out of curiousity, do you use the affirm 5n1 conditioner right after you rinse out the relaxer before you neutralize?

I use mizani mild currently.

I use ORS No-Lye. It's not too harsh, and doesn't leave my hair completely limp. It relaxes my hair straight and doesn't dry it out. I can't complain.

I used Motions once. I didn't like it. It left my hair dry and I wasn't able to stretch a long time until my next relaxer.

PROFECTIV regular baby!

LOVE IT!

My hair never feels weak or flat after my touchups and the ingredients are yummy! I have stopped using the shampoo that comes with it though. I prefer the ORS Creamy Aloe shampoo. I bought a big bottle of that.

The shampoo with it is nice. I just fell in love with the ORS one and I look forward to using it at touchup times.

I use mizani lye regular strength and I think I'm going to alternate this with either Mizani butter blend lye regular or Affirm lye regular strength.

I like to texlax my hair for thickness so lye relaxers are perfect for me and I base my scalp really well with vaseline petroleum jelly and I never get burned anymore.

The answer to this question is yes. You could also use aphogee 2 minute keratin reconstructor or any mild to moderate protein treatment to strengthen and rebuild the hairs' cuticles. This is an important step in the relaxer process.

I use Revlon Regular Lye in the jar. I cut the processing time in half because I prefer my hair texlaxed. This relaxer is perfect for me because it never burns, it's inexpensive and easy to find.

I keep it the same using ORS Lye and TCB Bone Strait my hair tends to get use to relaxer and still tends to curl up!

I recently started using ORS Lye. I really like it. My hair doesn't feel limp and flat afterwards:yep:
