I saw this and I was like If they had got to the video they would have been saying the same thing. I showed the video to my kid sister who knows little about hair care and even she was like " dang, that girls hair is going to be as stiff as a brick when she combs it down"

So it's not like LHCF as a group is some malicious organization trying to judge everyone. I've seen the love on this site..how we welcome newbies and how we give shout outs to progressing members.

So for the "other site" members to try and act like their so high and mighty, pa leeze. give me a break. No, I dont agree with bashing anyone but I also don't agree with people posing as experts when they clearly do not know what they are doing

So for the non-members lurking on this board to find something to talk about on your board...

Look....It's not so much that she didn’t know what she was doing...it's that she had the nerve to share that info with other people as the truth. IMO if you're going around giving bad info, YOU NEED TO BE BASHED!!! If people had come at her all nice like "Oh sweetie pie that's not proper hair care..." she may have left the video on there, and another poor soul might've followed her tips, and jacked up their hair. However if she'd posted a thread on the board with her regimen, people wouldn’t have responded that way. We would've been more caring and given her advice...

And for that board to call us heartless....the proof is in the pudding. Everyday you see people giving their personal hair advice to the other members of this board out of the kindness of their hearts. This entire board is based upon kindness and love for one another....no one with a hateful agenda would ever give you heartfelt advice intended to help you and make you better so they need to STFUWTBS! and if you're a LHCF member and you feel that way, I ask you this, what has LHCF done for you?? Because it's done enough for my hair, health, acne, and self esteem for me to BASH this site and it's members.

I honestly wouldn't have said anything. White people don't care if we can grow hair or not. They don't have TIME nor ENERGY nor PATIENCE to care if we can grow hair.So, me trying to post comments on Youtube about how wrong she was and her self-hate is irrelevent to me. No need to do it, really. Heck, white women have hair problems all the time and I get emails and questions about how to fix this, how do you do that... blah blah blah blah. Not only that, but I respect the members of this site and the purpose of this site. I'm not going to give this board any publicity unless needed and I'm certainly not going to correct someone and then credit LHCF because the ladies want their privacy. THey don't want everyone knowing about here.

I just say I've learned this from "research." (And technically that is true because I've learned info from many different hair boards, magazines, books, etc. Thats who we here came up with our info).
She can do whatever she wants to her hair. ITS HERS! I mean, I'm sure she's not thinking twice about it. I'm just not that vigilante about hair growth.

P.S. This board has gotten its fair-share of bad press all over the internet. This isn't the first time someone has made comments about our behavior on this board. Many people (internet and IRL) think the members here are "desperate for long hair" and thats just the way it is. Same way I feel about Specktra and makeup tutorials. Its Not a big priority on my list, but I respect the fact that those sites are there for me to refer to when makeup DOES become a concern.

No. I never said she was for a fact 16. I just gave my best estimate of the situation and given the fact that I believe you have to be 16 to have a youtube account. She could very well be in her 20s. Who knows? For the sake of discussion, let's assume she's 16. The point is that she's not a baby. As somebody who is not that far removed from her teen years, 16 is plenty old enough to know when something isn't right. You have been around the block enough times to get that feeling in your stomach. I would never say something about my hair being negro nappy without knowing that wasn't cool to say. I knew my hair was jacked up when I was 16. I may not have known the proper hair techniques but I knew enough that what I was doing wasn't right. We have members on this board in high school. I was 17 when I started looking up hair info online - you don't have to be in your 20s to know you're doing something wrong. Also, her attitude was that of a grown woman so there's no need to treat her with kid gloves.

But to reiterate a point made earlier, it doesn't seen that anyone made any mean comments on her video or that there was a mob mentality. It's not like a bunch of grown ladies swooped down on a middle school playground and started tormenting a bunch of 12 year olds calling them ugly or saying their hair was jacked up.

I would completely understand where you were coming from if this girl was a preteen. I'm glad you're voicing your opinion it certainly gives a different perspective to the entire situation.

Your statement tells me that you dont really care whether of not other black women take that bad advice, or maybe you dont feel obligated to look out for them. To each his own, but if I'd seen this video I'd have roasted her arse too. Because I used to be one of those girls with jacked up hair just looking for any answers, and I might've taken that bad advice. I dont want that to happen to anyone. Yeah, i was in my teens/around the same age as you when i first started looking on hairboards and taking care of my hair as well.

Anyway, we all know how ignorant ALOT of black people are about hair....The whole "good hair, bad hair" "nappy is bad" ect. ect., Then we all know how small the number is of women who acutally know how to take care of our hair and how quick people give advise on how to take care of hair no matter how crazy or wrong it is.

Just saying, she's not the worse, and this is very very common. She's young, so she has time to grow and learn. Its not a "me-myself-and-I" attitude. Not everyone has to do everything the way we do things on this board. My bff had waist-length hair and got blowouts practically every week. I know girls all over my school with mid-back and waist-length hair. If you've ever been to ATL, long hair is everywhere you turn. THey cannot all be LHCF members! She might have a different method than the rest of us here. No, you can entitled to your outrage. Thats perfectly fine.
I'm just saying that if it were me, I wouldn't have taken that route. I would have seen and not see. Well, someone said that she shouldn't be spreading her self-hate all over YouTube for whites to see and think that nappy hair is ugly or that black women cannot grow long hair. So what? That individual person will think whatever they want no matter what evidence of black women with long hair you present to them.

I just got finish reading something on the internet posted by some angry white woman about how asian women are not as attractive as white woman and white men will only date them if they change their looks to resemble like white girls.
You can have an entire country with nothing but a population of black women with long hair and they still won't give a dang.My roommate and friends hate nappy hair, and they TOO are "enlightened" "educated" LHCF-lurkers, but they stll don't give a d@mn. Hell, my roommate will tell you; she would rather go bald than be nappy. I'm not going to argue or lecture her. THats her perrogative.

Actually, many of the the members are/were members of white hair communities or find info about hair growth from non-black sites. Contrary to popular belief, black people carry the same charecteristics as whites/non-blacks, they are just slightly different. White people have to DC, stop manipulation, use growth aids, too. Some even relax their hair (my own BFF has a slight wave pattern and gets relaxers just like the ones we use here). Kinky hair is not that strange or foreign.It is still hair.

Where do you think we found out about Kenra, and Elucence, and Formadyl, and oil-rinsing, etc. The same thing goes for other white hair board. Latinas have the same struggles as we with relaxer care because my WHITE and latin friends get them done. If you get a Brazilian Keratin Treatment, you cannot get your hair wet too often or it will wash out.
So white women have to worry about sweating our their perms and color, too.
Same goes for asians and the Japanese straightening system. You still have to take care of your hair no matter what race you are. Its not just subjective to black people.

We all have the same human chrecteristics, even with hair. It is not comparing apples and oranges here; more like Machintosh VS. Gala apples.

Its this new treatment for straighteing hair. Somehow they get supeer strong protein solution and put it in your hair. Afterward, they straighten it with an iron. You cannot wash for 3 days. I know we have a thread on it. Also, not all have Formaldahyde in them.

You'll fight no matter how wrong you are. Yes, there is traffic for hair and a million, kagillion sites too. Its called Keywords, and considering that many different companies can use this same keyword to get others to their site when they type "hair" into the engine, it is no SURPISE that one would come up with 350 million sites. This counts for hair removal; hair growth, weaves; pubic hair; hairy armpits; hairy feet; hairy situations; hairy vagina porn, etc. Basically anything with the word "hair".
But, its not NEARLY as much as for celebrities or Amazon.com. To US @ LHCF, hair is a huge thing, but not everyone is that concerned. Sherri Shephard got on The View and said that wearing weaves were a method of giving black women's hair a break, as if its the only way.

Anyhoo... Collie, we will agree to disagree. No hard feelings. However, there are a couple of threads on whether whites have to work as hard as we to have gorgeous hair. The general consensus was yes, they do. The ones who don't probably don't care or don't know. And, I think its brave of you to respond to her video. However, its something I probably would not have done for my own reasons.

You'll fight no matter how wrong you are. Yes, there is traffic for hair and a million, kagillion sites too. Its called Keywords, and considering that many different companies can use this same keyword to get others to their site when they type "hair" into the engine, it is no SURPISE that one would come up with 350 million sites. This counts for hair removal; hair growth, weaves; pubic hair; hairy armpits; hairy feet; hairy situations; hairy vagina porn, etc. Basically anything with the word "hair".
But, its not NEARLY as much as for celebrities or Amazon.com. To US @ LHCF, hair is a huge thing, but not everyone is that concerned. Its this new treatment for straighteing hair. Somehow they get supeer strong protein solution and put it in your hair. Afterward, they straighten it with an iron. You cannot wash for 3 days. I know we have a thread on it. Also, not all have Formaldahyde in them.

Thanks RavenHBD and Bravenewgirl, I'm off to look for that thread and do some research. I probably wont try it, would hate to be disappointed, but I wonder how many black women have used it with success and if its better than relaxers?
