Looks like a roller set to me - that's pretty easy to do. Set your hair and when you take it down, do not comb or brush the curls; instead, use a pick or your fingers to separate the curls, then part the side and comb the top to obtain the smooth appearance she has.

You can do it.

I would use flexirods because I'm not good at roller setting.

Or if you're ok using a curling iron use a large barrel one.

You could probably achieve that style by pincurling and using your fingers to separate the curls.

how would i place the rollers? my usual rollersets don't come out like that believe me. I'll use the curling iron. i'll have to borrow one since my isn't that big. can i curl with my flatiron too?

Maybe use the rollers vertically? Although pincurls might be easier.

But to tell you the truth I'd use a curling iron too. Matter of fact I might dig out my big ceramic one and try that for my company Christmas party.

Your flat iron isn't going to give you curls like that. If you rollerset it, turn the rollers the other way so that the curls will fall like spirals when you take the rollers down. If you use the curling iron, you'll probably need some type of product to hold the curls. If not, they'll fall before the day is over.

I can't see the pic, but if this is the look she was sporting when she was on Tyra, it made me want to run to the salon for a CUT right then!

oo0oh forget the hair I love that dress.

Oh and the hair looks like they used a medium sized barrell and curled it with some spritz and finger combed it.

Looks like a roller set to me too. I would try red magnetic rollers maybe done on a slight angle .... like if you were trying to do spirals. Just try it beforehand and see if you like how it comes out. It is gorgeous and that dress!!!! Work it girl!

I"ve gotten curls like that from a flatiron. My old stylist used a FHI, I think 1/2", and just wrapped my hair around the flatiron before she swiped down the length of my hair...I got beautiful curls that way.

thanks! i'll definetely use my spray on setting lotion.

I love this style. I saved this picture to my hard drive yesterday. I'm gonna try to press my hair this weekend to re-create this hairstyle.

I'm this close to getting my hair relaxed:perplexed

Yes, you can curl with your flat iron and it makes the best curls!! Good luck!

Ms Diva ....glad to see I am not the only one loving that style right there

Bmorre..gurl why you got my ornament on ya tree LOL thought I was the only one that crazy. Mine is at the top of my tree instead of a star or anything  You get mad points for dat one gurlie

I used to wear my hair like that.

This is the only pic I have uploaded but I used a roller set. I think to duplicate that look you could do a roller set with larger rollers (say red magnetic ones or the greenish ones) and use a bit less setting lotion to get that touseled look then just use fingers to separate curls.

Here's one of mine but the curls are way smaller.

:yep:

i was going to say the same thing. place the roller on TOP of the hair and roll up , not down. make sure you part your hair in the front how you want it first .and dont comb the curls either and make sure you put a little setting lotion on them to keep them from falling. if you want a little more volume, seperate the curls and fluff them a little for a fuller look.

Even the heat is the devil, I would use a curling iron or flat iron. You can achieve curls like that with a flat-iron. We do lots of flat-iron curling on my dorm floor. You just run it down the hair, add a slight bump to the end and then take the iron and wrap the hair around as you bring it down, you'll have a nice curl and if you want to do it the day before you can simply pin curl the hair to hold them and then take them down and finger pick them apart.

You know you're gonna have to post some pics-right?

Exactly! i wanna see! anyway, last night i did the vertical rollerset and hated the way it turned out. I should've rolled them UP not down. oh well. I wonder if my hair's too short for this style. If i can do this with my carusos too then show me how.

what size rollers did you use? for something like this, i would vary the medium sized rollers in the very front, and the large/jumbo sized throughout the middle and back. roll UP :) and towards the back and remember to "fluff" them out a little for thickness.

I am so stealing this style! I think this will be my New Years Eve hair style...

Anywho... I would personally have a hard time getting a rollerset to mimic this hair style. I think you should try another poster's sugestion of using a flat iron...flat iron the top and spiral it as you get towards the end! Add a little holding spray and viola! Or try it with a ceramic curling iron!

ETA: You can also try flexrods set on dry hair! I just realized that my AVI pic is almost a longer version of this style. It's a weave but that's how I achieved it!

^^^ Did you add anything to your hair before you did the flexi rods? How long did you leave them in?

I think I might try this next week.. :yep: Very nice!

Has anyone successfully achieved this style and can post some pics...pretty please??

I really would like to try pincurls, but I've never done them before. I'm not sure how many pincurls I should make or how much hair to put in each pincurl...

My last resort would be to use a really big curling iron, but I haven't used direct heat on my hair in forever....

Have you tried this yet, Caribeandiva?

Thanks in advance everyone! I have a really big event on New Year's Eve, and still don't know what the heck I'm doing to my hair! :perplexed

Everything about that look is fierce, including the makeup. Personally I would roll on medium to large size rollers and then blow out the roots for a sleeker look up top. If I wasn't on a no heat regi I would try it.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! You and your hair are so pretty!!
