Should fair haired women wrap their hair?

I think I'd read somewhere but I don't remember where that fair haired women lose more hair when they wrap their hair consistently. Every since I was probably in the 6th grade I've had a almost bald section of hair on my rigt side. I used to always get teased about a "receding" hairline, so I'm wonderin could wrapping and braids be the cause of bald patches?

And I wanna thank yall for all the support and questions answered!! After I read that post about Moisture/Protein, my hair has look a LOT better!! First of all, I combed my hair this morning and not a strand broke even though I'm getting mad NG. My hair is shiny and it is incredibly soft. You should have felt my ends before!! They used to cut my ex-boyfriend hehe:lachen:

IMO yes, wrapping is a lot of manipulation. I be the thinning side was the side that was pull towards the front.

I have a friend right now at work who's edges is gone, I think its due to wrapping. She has patcheds all around her hair line. Her hair is never fully past shoulder length, but its thick and she appears to need a relaxer every month, it grows fast but she cant retain length. She wraps faithfully every single night. she uses a brush to get it tight, which I think is the culprit.

I wrap when I have a roller set, but not with a brush, I use my shampoo comb and I wrap loosely.

I don't even use a brush anymore. It seems like the brush has more hair in it than the hair on my head!! But I do wrap loosely with a comb; how could I get the kute wrapped look without wrapping my hair?

I have fine, thin hair and I wrap almost every night. I use a shower comb to start off and then I use Goody Ouchless Brush and to finish/smooth it down I use Pure Bristle Brush. I have no problems.

I dont wrap often....only really when I do the saran wrap thing after rollersetting. But I think that if u werent rough with your hair it could be done. I would probably use my fingers as a rake to wrap it loosely and then go over it with one of those baby soft boar bristle brushes. In the morning I would unwrap the same way with my fingers and comb into place with a wide tooth comb.

wrapping, blowdrying, brushing = the devil.....if you do, do it, do it in moderation....

i dont comb my hair throughout the week

I do a loose wrap too.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm reading and find articles of interest every where. You mentioned you read a post related to 'moisture/protein'...where can I find that post?

Thank you

I do the same thing.

You could try alternating the direction of your wrap, it will cut down on tension.

Dlewis, who is the gorgeous man in you siggie?

Sorry, guess I should not have been so specific and directing my question at one person, when everyone here knows the answer...

Can anyone point me to the post/thread related to 'moisture/protein' that Krazynkute0188 was referencing? Or any post that will help me find the right products to add moisture because I'm experiencing, in my opinion, to much shedding.

Every morning I'm loosing about 15 hair strands and again at night when I comb for the night.

It cant be the comb because if the teeth were any wider it wouldn't be a comb

Any, any help you ladies can give me would be much appreciated.

I know you guys probably hate 'newbies' because they ask so many freakin questions :perplexed, but I have one more  "sealed" is another phrase I was curious about... someone else referred to 'sealing' her ends at night.

How do I seal my ends...?

Thank you

Hello Newbie! Sealing your ends refers to applying oil on your ends so that you can seal in any moisturizer that you may have put in there. For instance, I seal my hair with Virgin Coconut Oil after I put in my leave in conditioner so that I can lock the moisture into my hair. P.S. I'm relatively new myself, but I've learned a lot being here .
