So, I have been PS'n for over a year and at this point, I am feeling sooo not sexy. I bun (with and without bun covers), wear a single braid down, etc. I am getting so bored with it. I cannot rollerset because I end up looking stupid AND IMO it is way too much manipulation FOR ME.:nono:

Maybe, mine are boring. Anyone else feel like this? Post some of your "sexy" styles..?

Southerntease has alot of protective styles that are soooo cute. She just spices them up with accessories. I think when you do protective styling, the key is to do a cute bun and top it off with an accessory.

Check it out: southerntease.net.

i know the feeling!!! i was wearing protective styles AND i had natural hair so it was serving 2 purposes. my hair would frizz all up if i wore it out anyway! then i got texlaxed...LOVE my decision to do that but now i'm wearing a wig and love that too!!
so again, my hair is protected anyway but i'm keeping the sexy or i should say bringing it back!!!:grin:

Oh, I know the feeling! I'm so tired of buns now! (And it's only been a month!) I think instead of me wearing protective styling 24/7, I'm going to try to wear my hair flat ironed one week out of the month.

I feel you on this one :yep: but I'm not really tripping now b/c its cold and snowing... Bunning can get a bit boring though :ohwell:

i've done sooooo many different protective styles in the past. some cute some not. i always forget to take pics of them tho. i'm in the process now of putting some in my fotki (when i can remember to snap shots of them).

but yea bunning can be a drag. I hated wearing them during the summer. who wants to walk around in a cute outfit and school teacher bun!...but i love wearing them in winter. i'm more concerned with staying warm then looking cute!:yep:

I love buns...I do High buns. Low buns....My favorite is low bun to the side cute with hat or without...Always looking for new ways to bun:drunk: I think buns are nice as long as it is polished.

I feel this way aaaaall the time. But truth be told I am LAZY and bunning gets me to my goal w/o fuss and too much time in the morning. Even if I knew "sexy" PS I probably wouldn't wear them & sexy goes out the window when you are 10+ weeks post, anyway .

Whenever I get really tired of it, I just go to the Doms & wear my hair out for a week or so every couple months.

Okay!!!

*wipes sweat off*

southerntease's site is disbaled at my job, so I will look tonight.

Thank you ladies sooooo much for your responses.

I have so much new-growth, my head look like a booty when I part it down the middle.:spinning:

Yes I agree. Right now I am wigging it up. At least for the rest of the winter.:ohwell::sad:

Girl, I wish I had the guts to get wiggie wit it! I CAN't though. Hubby HATES weave and if I had a wig, he'd die. Then, I am deathly afraid of em falling out.

So, I am about to look for a Dom. salon and have it down. Gosh I said I'd NEVER do this.

I am afraid of breakage. Your hair is gorge BTW. But, girl I wanna suprise hubby and the look wouldn't be complete with lingerie and a bun cover :nono::ohwell:

:yep: I know how you feel. PS'ing all the time is a sacrifice. I always feel like I have to wear makeup when I wear a bun. I guess it makes me feel a lil' more sexy

When Im wearing a PS...I feel better if my hair is at least smoothed out (from rollersetting versus airdrying regularly) and if I leave some hair out in the front with a few curls.

Another thing Ive been doing lately is Ill wear it down while Im out and about and put it back up the minute I get home. Usually it would only be down for a few hours at the most. If it does happen to be down I try to make sure Im wearing something where my hair only touches my back or my shirt is smooth and not cotton or a sweater. I live in FL so thats easy to do most of the time.

I am one of those people who have NO BUSINESS wearing makeup:lachen:. Just not..good.... I envy you.

at least you can make a bun. All i can do is an updo which I wear 99% of the time. I just thinking this yesterday, I need to get my sexy back. lol. I'm kind of style challenged myself so I dont know what to do.

Im not trying to tell you what to do, because everything doesnt work for everybody....but when my hair was shorter and didnt brush my clothes (I wore wash n gos so the shrinkage brought it above my shoulders)...I wore my hair out all the time and it still grew grew grew due to frequent washing and just keeping it moist. Just something u may want to consider.

Ill bet u would look really cute with a braidout or twistout back in a headband. Ive only recently started trying to do protective styling bc Im trying to get past APL and Im stalling. Im gonna have to wear it up more often until I get to my goal. I might even get braids for a while after my wedding in March so I can leave it alone for a while.

I agree with previous posters...
if you keep the face pretty everything else
falls into place.
So if you're doing protective styles...
that's less time spent on your hair (or it should be)
and now you have more time to step up your
makeup/earring/accessories game... no???

SIGH. this is the history of my life thus far, protective styling has really caused me not to feel sexy at all these days.

I just keep in mind the satisfaction I will reap in about a month from now

For whatever reason my boo thinks that my pulled back hair is sexy. I'd been going to the dominican salon every week he says he likes the little waves in the front of my head from my new growth. Go figure:perplexed

No I appreciate the suggestion. even in an updo my hair gets really dry due to the weather so im afraid what will happen when all my hair is out. I used to do twistouts before but I would have to redo them EVERY night and I got tired of that. Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it.

I feel you about wanting a sexier 'do. I used to wear buns a lot and my husband always asks after a few days straight of seeing the bun, "Baby, when are you going to get your hair done?" It never fails . . . Then if I just rollerset and/or flat iron and wear my hair down, he always compliments me as if I've gone to the salon or something. Weird . . .
