Can you ladies recommend a salon quality product line. Can you also tell me why you recommend this line.

So far, the salon quality lines I really like are Design Essentials, Joico, and Keracare. My hair seems to really like all 3....its soft and behaving well and Ive been getting lots of hair compliments lately about how healthy it looks and that its getting long. That was my main selling point lol.

What are your needs? Need more moisture, more protein? A balance?

I love Joico, and the reason I am loyal to it is b/c every product (even the moisturizing line) has human hair keratin protein, and their focus is on reconstructing the hair and reversing/repairing/preventing damage, which is what I need as a fine haired relaxed head. My natural curl pattern is super tight, so the relaxer has to break down a lot of bonds to get it straight, so reconstruction is key for me.

I've also used Paul Mitchell, Keracare, Design Essentials, Kenra, and others, so I have lots of reviews for ya

My recommendations would be Kenra, Aveda & Nexxus (Phyto Organics).
I :love2: Kenra & in my opinion it's the best moisturizing conditioner (for my hair).

I really like the Nexxus Humectin conditioner as well. It's very moisturizing but not as good as Kenra.

Aveda is good too but this line doesn't have a deep penetrating moisturizing conditioner (IMO). So I use the DR treatment & conditioner only if my hair needs a boost of protein which is typically every 2-3 weeks.

I've read so many great reviews about this line. When my Aveda DR is gone i'm going to give this a try.

Keracare: made for my relaxer(Affirm). good solid moisturizing /protein products.

Alter Ego : I have only tried the garlic hot oil dc, but it is really good for shedding and is moisturizing.

Biolage gets good reviews. I love the Cera Repair Hydratherapie. Good for some ceramide/protein without drying or making hair hard.

Aveda: good products all around especially for those with sensitive skin. I have used Aveda off and on since the early 90s. When I am relaxed, they don't really give me enough moisture, though. The last Aveda product I used was sap moss when it first came out.

I love my dominican conditioners though. Very moisturizing, protein without being too much. Some of them come in salon sizes and I have seen used in salons. Not too sure if they are all really considered "salon", by USA standards though.

I love Joico. The KPAK Line and the Silk Results lines are both awesome. They make my hair sleek and moisturized without weighin it down. When I dry without heat my hair lays flat as though I have applied heat.

Are both of these moisturizing products? Which would you recommend for protein?

My favorite is Kerastase. Kerastase leaves my hair shiny, healthy looking, strong and protected. My hair is very fine, fragile, tends to frizz and tangles easily. Kerastase was the first line that made my hair healthy and gave me great style. It does have a lot of silicone in the products, so if you don't like cones, you probably won't like this brand.

My second fave is Frederic Fekkai though I'm not sure if this is considered a salon brand.

Joico............

The reason I suggest Joico is because they have an extremely comprehensive collection of products that can address just about every hair need. There products all have a low molecular size so that they can penetrate the hair shaft.

I also like aveda shampoos.

The KPak reconstructer is a great protein. If you want to try it, let me know and I can send you a sample. I got the BIG sizes. :yep:The KPAK lines has a great moisturizing conditioner and the Moisture recovery line has a great great conditioners too.

Fekkai is like top-top shelf salon brand. Kerastase too. You like them expensive thangs, huh?

I tried Keracare Humtco but to tell you the truth I really ant like it 4 some reason. But to think back when I was using it my hair was the longest and healthist its ever been. So im a star back using it.

Im also trying DE befor I got my braids their pretty good I like the shampoo and leave in didnt try the stimulations yet but i heard lots of good stuff about.

I didnt like mizani at all. i tried moisture fuse did nothing forreal. Therma smoothe was like a waste of money. the thermasmoothe conditioner was ok. but every thing else no.

Perfect results is a good cheaper salon product. I like the Boomerange conditioner followed by medicated triple silk. I like the smell good oil. I was very goos. and i like the mango line by them. it gave softness slip all that good stuff and smelled good.

I cant wait to try kenra

The Joico K-pak line is really good for a balance of moisture and protein each week. There is the K-pak Intense Hydrator for your deep conditioner, and when you need a protein treatment, you can use K-pak reconstructor.

The K-pak shampoo and conditioner are both moisturizing but they still have protein in them so that there is a balance, but not enough to cause an overload. I jokingly refer to the K-pak line as a "poor woman's Aveda DR", but it's so much more than that. :lick:

My needs are more moisture but a line that can give me a balance of protein and moisture would be great.

The Kpak intense hydrator is supposed to be the TRUTH...I haven't used it yet but I will have it by next week.

They have a moisturizing conditioner too; a thin version for normal-thin hair and a thicker "balm" for thicker hair.

Joico also has great serums. Right now you can go to their site and request a sample.

@bkgirl: That was my issue with Kenra--sometimes it could be TOO moisturizing. I keep it on hand for any emergency situations. It'll get you back on track in 2 washes. But after that I had to put it back in the closet and go back to maintaining.

There was a thread about it a couple of days ago and I heard good things about it from other people I know use it. A lady at my local Trade Secrets is in love with this stuff. She has 3c type hair and it is double processed and still looks great. I will let you know how I like it once I use it.
