I do that, is there any downsides to it??

It dosent bother me, but im starting to feel like I might be ruining my ends, or something :ohwell:

There shouldn't be as long as you keep your hair well moisturized and you move the bun around your head. Don't constantly wear the bun in the same spot on your head everyday and you should be okay. HTH

Hi Saida...well as long as you are washing & conditioning your hair weekly and taking care of it, I don't see that it will hurt anything. I like wearing ponytails with my hair in a clip...but since it is close to winter I've been wearing it down more...so just a suggestion you may want to wear it down every now and then...hope I helped lady.

You know, I have been wondering the exact same thing. I bun my hair everyday, all day since I am in the military. My options are kinda limited in Baghdad :ohwell:. I am really worried about my ends and what they will look like after this year is over.:look:

I mainly wear a bun to protect my ends. As long as your ends are moisturized/sealed and tuck away, then it should be fine. Why do you think your ruining your ends?

Thanks for the advice, honestly I would say I wear it in a bun EVERYDAY in a month, so how many times do you think I should let it down??

Sealing the ends is to seal/keep the moisture in. Some ladies seal after moisturizing, the whole shaft from root to tip. Others seal the last two-three inches of the hair shaft. You can seal with almost any oil. Ex. sweet almond, jojoba, castor, olive, grapeseed, tea tree, and so on. HTH. By the way your bun is very nice.

Saida, keep your ends moisturized, oil sealed and try a small baggy to the ends..{check BABYGURL's FOTKI.} I have been bunning, french rolling and french braiding for more than a year now. I always hide my ends in a baggy-not always, tucked under or wrapped at the ends. I have not a split end in sight. The only drawbacks I've found are other people's comments and hair-do boredom. I can deal with it for healthy below bra stap hair eventually. You--GIRLTOLOVE--you just stay safe, come on home to us then get your ends in shape!!

Yes, it is so full and thick! Very pretty.

Tell me about it. This lady at work asked me when will I take my hair down and starting combing it again. :perplexed

Saida, it can be hard at times..I have a Guyanese buddy at work with beautiful hair who understands protective hair care and she is sort of my hair monitor-she tells me when it is exposed and fixes it for me or nudges me. I also periodically take a mirror to check it as it does show when I'm rushing around at work. The exposure happens most often with a loose french roll other wise I use GOOD HAIR DAYS pins from SALLYS to tuck my hair.
My method is to use leave-in con, oil seal then place my ends in a small sandwich baggy-twist it and fold it under, roll the remaining hair around it-usually it's well hidden. You know, Saida, even when it shows I do not really care too much-it inspires questions about what I'm doing.

Awwww, thank you so much lady. I have the Holy One with me. I'll be fine no matter where I am. I thank you for the words, but I'd like to keep my self AND my ends safe....lol:lachen:

You definitely won't ruin your ends this way. As the others have said, wearing the same bun everyday can cause breakage at certain points where the hair is most stressed from being pulled up. If you change it around, this will not happen or will happen minimally.

I bun just about everyday in the same spot and my ends are ok.. I don't do the donut bun b/c I moisture my ends often... Your hair shouldn't break from having a bun everyday as long as you keep it moisturized.. There are a lot of women that bun successfully.... Good Luck:drunk:

:yep::yep:Yup...I was told I'm not enjoying my hair. HA!!!! She has no idea how much I do enjoy my hidden hair..can hardly wait for her mouth to gape when I do decide to show it for a day!

Welcome Saida.

Saida, becareful with the baggy. It doesn't work for everyone. I've read how the baggy has ruined some peoples' ends on here; especially those with fine hair. You can do a search on the baggy method to read other peoples' experiences. I don't have fine hair and I also don't use a baggy because it leads to over moisturization(sp) and breakage for me. I think you'll just fine keeping your hair moisturized and bunning. I agree with others in that you should change the position of the bun and make sure it isn't too tight.

Thank you I will take that into consideration :yep:
Also my bun is not always in a doughnut, so I know I wont be baggying all the time. :)
