Its become habit to use a leave in after washing my hair :look:. Before LHCF I never used one, but I know this is one of the reasons my hair is now thriving...The two in heavy rotation are Lacio Lacio and Nexxus Headress.

My hair responds well to leave-in conditioner. For me, it's like a conditioning treatment that keeps the hair strong and soft till the next wash. Also, depending on the leave-in that I choose (and I have many!) I can actually go without using a daily moisturizer. I can just apply a drop of Vatika and go.

If your hair is fighting using a cream leave-in, perhaps you should try a liquid spray type. Or if your relaxed hair likes the cream leave-in, you could dilute it and put it in a spray bottle for the natural part of the hair. (Or just put it on the relaxed hair only, and seal with oil).

I don't always deep condition but I use cantu shea butter leave in conditioner as my leave in bout 90% of the time. It has the consistensy of yogurt and smells live a pina colada :lick:. I mix a little glab with some oil in my hand before I set my hair.

I'm not trying to be rude or self-promotional, but there is a reason why I have a blog. I kind of get tired answering the same questions over and over, and so do a lot of the older members, which is why they no longer frequent this section. I know the search isn't working well, so I understand, but we have these blogs for a reason. Its not just about my hair growth but about hair in general. Please try to read it before you post these questions on the board because most of the subjects everyone posts about, I have answered on the blog and it would save you time instead of having to wait for responses or getting upset when you don't get a answer. Just a little advice, everyone. I do a lot of research about hair and I post what I learn here. I have a lot of help for it so the information is true.

I am currently transitioning and I always use a leave-in. I use Giovanni leave-in. My relaxed hair and new growth likes it. I never get a mushy feeling.

I always use a leave-in. Maybe you need to try another leave-in or maybe you don't really need one. I think that if you deep condition then a leave-in isn't all that necessary imo. However, I need a leave-in because it keeps my hair soft, silky and helps me detangle. I usually can go days without moisturizing because I deep condition and use a leave-in.

Wow... If it makes you feel better, I didn't directly ask you :look:.

I got plenty of answers and did not complain about waiting, and I think it was rude to be so condescending toward me-- the board is for asking questions, I didn't have you in mind when I asked so I did not seek your blog out. The idea of asking questions is to get more than one POV. I don't think it would have helped to only ask you, because I would have only got your opinion. IMO If you were so tired of answering you dind't have to come in here.

ETA: Your blog didn't even answer my question. I know what a conditioner is, and I know what a leave-in is. I just wanted to know if there were folks out here who did not use the latter and if they had the same results as I had. Can we make threads without people coming in here acting like we aren't allowed to post anything?

This is a good question -- I've been wondering the same thing lately. I was on a couple of trips recently and forgot to bring my leave-in conditioner along. My hair dried so nicely after just washing and conditioning with no leave-in at all.

I've used a leave-in conditioner for a very long time out of habit and because I'm afraid not to. But I think I'm going to experiment and see if leaving out the leave-in works better for me.

Whoa. I have been here longer and I am going to have to disagree. Some of us don't mind helping others even if it is repeat info. Even if it is nothing more than bumping up a previous thread or posting a link to it.

We all came here for the same (or similar) reasons in the beginning so I really don't mind and enjoy taking a little extra time out to answer questions.

Sorry but I think your post is kinda rude and insensitive and very much against the mood I THOUGHT he tried to keep on the forum.

When the hell did I complain? I'm just saying... Many of us don't feel like reposting the same opinions over and over. The board is flooded with the same questions over and over, but I do understand that the search feature isn't working. Thats why I am saying, before you post, try looking into the blog links in others siggy because some people have the info you are looking for there. My opinion on the leave-ins is in the blog. No one said you weren't allowed to post anything, I'm just giving you a disclaimer. Many of the older members are not posting in the hair board anymore because they've their routines set in stone and/or don't feel like being repetitive.... so you might get the same opinions over and over again.

Look, I'm not combative and I'll let you fight by yourself. I'm just giving you a heads up. However you read what I wrote in your head is for you to deal with...:ohwell::look:

HoneyDew, we've had this convo before about the same questions being asked again and again last year. I understand that the search feature isn't working, but I am saying if you want to know an answer to something, try reading the blogs or the fotkis. Even the journals on the boards sometimes have the different answers.

However you all read it is y'all's perrogative, but it wasn't meant to be rude. Not everything posted on this board is meant to incite a fight. I'm just giving everyone some tips for when the search isn't working.

I didn't say you complained.

You said I did.

And like you said, the search feature doesn't work, but I have scanned the previous threads as well just skimming and I did NOT find a post similar to mine. So if I start a thread, just accept that it was started for a reason and not just clutter. If it bothers you don't read it. No one is trying to argue, I just found it peculiar that you would assume that your blog was the only resource I should use. I would never scan peoples' blogs trying to find an answer that I could get answered by people who are clearly interested in answering. I wouldn't have gotten a hundred (or however many it is) hits and over a dozen responses if it were otherwise. I am sorry our blog wasn't helpful, and I am sorry you were offended that I started a thread to find answers. I thought message boards were for discussion. And I thought my thread was helpful, you make it out like I was too dumb to know that a bunch of these ladies have blogs. Did it ever occur to you that I prefer to discuss things with people instead of read someone's blog?

I am glad these older members made regimens and posted them and I am very aware of a few of them. But this isn't the Older Members' Blog Referral Site. What kind of site would it be if we were only expected to ask certain people on their blogs questions? I enjoy talking to people on here whether they are new or old members. New members have responded and I have found it just as helpful because they have had the same experience as I have.

I am tired of people trying to regulate threads when they didn't even have to read/respond to them in the first place. I don't like seing MN or MTG or Oil Rinsing in the title of 300 posts, but a lot of them are really asking different questions. I don't see ANY post asking the same exact question as me or getting the same answers. No one wants to read about something in a 300 page thread just because someone doesn't want anyone asking anymore questions about it.:nono:

Right. I see ones like that about Henna. I just skip over them if I am not interested in posting. I will jump in and offer some answers if I see that no one else has helped the person out, but I would never go in there making the person feel bad for asking. I actually have a friend lurking that does not want to post her questions because she is nervous that she will not "fit in". That is ridiculous, but I know some newbies and lurkers do feel that way.

Anyway, back to our leave in conditioner discussion, right!? :yep:

Carry on...

Yea back to it, since I am stuck inside all weekend w/ nothing to do:look:

I used the CHI silk infusion and Biosilk together (like 1 quarter sized drop of CHI and like a half tablespoon of Biosilk) and applied it to my two ponytails after I had detangled and combed a drop of CON through (did I tell yall this already) and I let it airdry overnight and all day before I blowdryed for about a minute (with a drop of ORS Olive Oil) then straightened last night. My hair didn't burn on the straightener and stayed moisturized. It was so SHINY! Usually when I use a lot of leave-ins my hair feels sticky with crusty ends when I straighten it beacuse the iron burns from too much product.

I think I really am going to start DCing more often and using Leave-Ins less often. It really worked, my hair is still shiny and feels good today.

The day I decide to come out of lurking I find out we are now forced to read people's blogs before we ask questions. How stupid is that? If the older members (whoever they may be) don't want to answer questions they should just pass by the threads and go to the ones they want to answer.

Anyway to answer your question I always use a leave in when at home, but if away and washing my hair I just usually airdry with serum and my hair is fine. Both seems to work for me.

Now I'm back to lurking.

We have journals, blogs, fotkis, any different resources so that if you don't get your answers, you can utilize them when the search feature isn't working. Those are not just for to chart our growths, but to help new people out with their questions. Thats all I'm saying. Many of the people who had the best advice are no longer here, or don't post in this section anymore... so try reading their journals. I'm just helping folks out. I'm not saying it to be snobby, I'm just giving you advice to help you find your answers when the search feature isn't working. And I didn't say that I am complaining, but I've notice people making comments about the board being "clique-y" or asking why their threads being overlooked. Its not that we only give certain people attention, its just sometimes that question has already been asked[FONT=verdana, geneva, lucida,'lucida grande',arial,helvetica,sans-serif] and we don't feel like answering it again. We had a discussion about this not too long ago.

Geez... Stop saying WE because it really is just you. As in nobody asked you. As in nobody needed anything from you. So get off the pedestal and stop acting like I desperately needed advice from specifically you.

But since you want to hide behind "we," I didn't ask you all, whoever you all are. Stop acting like there is some group of women who have this perfect hair that I should be so privileged to be able to consult for advice. It is just hair. I can ask whoever I want, and however I want. If you have a problem with me starting a thread, complain to the moderators and tell them I have started one too many threads on leave-in conditioners, since it is that crucial to you. I have a fotki. I have other resources. I have seen other blogs. Southern Tease has a blog. Macherieramour has a blog. I have read them, theyre nice and helpful. But to act like I should automatically consult them when I have a question.. don't you think you're trying to monopolize something that doesnt and shouldn't concern you? Puh-LEASE!

Don't be mad, but "bravenewgirl87" did not come to mind when I had a hair issue, and neither did your blog. Neither did all these other blogs or members you spoke of. I thought of some members, I thought of some fotkis, but one of the first things that came in mind after scanning the board was to come up with a thread because I wanted multiple opinions. Don't take it to heart that there are folks on this board aren't dying to go to your blog, because to be 100% honest with you, I haven't really found it that helpful, so I never really was compelled to go visit it again.

And I can't possibly consider you that much older of a member (as if you have some major sense of seniority or authority...:look:) since you only joined like 8 months before me. Here I am thinking older members as in been here since 2002 or people who started the site and you havent even been here but a little over year yourself:nono:

ETA I am not trashing the site, I love a lot of womens' hair and advice on here, but don't act like there is a group of girls I should only go to for help if I need it. And if that were the case you would not be one of them, mostly based on your attitude.

I did not know anything about leave-in con's until I came to this board. When I read about them I thought they were necessary. I does make me feel more secure though.

Slightly OT: Even when a thread is posted that may have been discussed before, could it possibly be beneficial due to the fact that new techniques have evolved, new products are on the market, or new opinions and people are around that weren't before? Revisitation isn't always bad.:look: I'm just saying (typing).:spinning:

WTF? You're f*ckin' nuts... I mean, seriously. You take things to an entirely different level in practically every thread you visit.:nono: Thats why I'm not even going to get banned for your foolishness. Best of luck to you and those like you on this board. Seriously... F*ckin' basket case.

No one is stopping anyone from posting threads. I just wanted everyone to know that there are other ways of getting answers to you questions and to not neglect them. Sometimes, I ask a question and no one knows the answer to it at that time, but I REALLY need to know the answer now, or even before I post on the board. if a question is really repeatitive, it might get overlooked. I know this because we've had people ask, "why don't my threads get answered but soso gets 40 pages." So-So posted something new and people would get mad when we asked them to use the search feature. "Well, why do I have to use the search?" Because sometimes the answers are long and elaborate and you just don't feel like having to recollect all that information. Its not said to be nasty or hurt feelings. However, at the moment, the search feature isn't working so I'm just letting folks know that there are other ways to get the answers to your questions.
I like to read the blogs, articles, journal posts, and even use the PM feature before I just give up. Thats all I was saying....
If you're not having luck with getting the answers you desire, there are other and sometimes not recognized ways of getting them... like read other parts of the board.

Seriously... you should be banned with this post. I didn't curse at you, I didn't out and call you names, and I didn't come into any threads you started trying to scew it up out of spite. It amazes me how we are both the same age yet you want to be so immature about this.

You came into a thread that was perfectly fine before you got here. Here we are discussing a problem and working through it and having feedback and taking a poll and somehow that offends you so much that you have to get on your high horse and try to bring us all down? Surely we are grown, educated women who know how to use the internet and ask questions, and we do not need someone talking down on us as if it were otherwise. If the thread was so ineffective, how come there are 50 posts in it and so many views and over 100 people responding to the poll? Your first post in this thread was completely uncalled for! Now I may have been wrong to say that I wasn't pleased with your site (but it was the truth, it doesn't exactly have the information that I am looking for), but I wasn't wrong for defending my thread and my reasons for starting it.

You act as if because someone has a blog we (as in anyone who has been on the board less than you and posts a thread asking for help) should feel obligated to visit it, like it is an order or a demand or requirement we have to meet. Stop being such a bureaucrat, and quit trying to monopolize people.

We are all here to help each other out. We don't want any member to feel like they can't post their questions here. After all, that's a big part of what this forum is all about.
