Has anyone tried an ACV on braid extensions? I'm thinking this'll help alleviate "buildup" when I remove the extensions. I want to try one this weekend, and in three more weeks right before I take them out.

I wear micro braid extensions and I use an ACV Rinse at the end of every wash. I wash my hair twice a week, BTW.

...bumping :)

Does anyone else do this? I finally got braids in and i am itching to do an ACV rinse tomorrow morning
How does it work out for you? part of my concern is that the vinegar smell will linger for longer than usual...i also dont know how the acid level in the ACV will affect the synthetic extensions used for my braids :perplexed

I did it w/o any problems with my braids. I wore various braids earlier this year with synthetic hair. The easiest way for me ended up being filling a small tub/basin with lukewarm water and adding a few capfuls of ACV. I would soak my braids in the mixture and refill tub with plain cool(as I could stand it) water to rinse. I didn't have a smell afterwards. I did this about twice a month btw.

It works great as long as you rinse it out. lol. I did an ACV on the synthetic hair prior to braiding.

I used it for a different reason, but I've done it. :yep:

Make sure you review Robin's video on removing braids with buildup. I've had some pretty nasty build-up and still don't have much breakage using her method.

Sareca is there a Link to Robin's video? Please provide. I had build up, but I used my Mist mix to soften it and take the stuff apart. Another method is welcomed. Im going back into twists cause Im loving my progress so far and I need new ideas for caring for them.

I've tried every method in the book and all kinda of detangling products. :yep: I've had the most success with her method on dry hair. http://growafrohairlong.com/takingoutplaits.html

I've also had a lot of success with DC'g my braids:

1. I put 1 capful of conditioner in an empty 16oz bottle, add a little water and shake it until it's smooth and foamy.
2. Pour the conditioner-water over my hair avoiding my scalp
3.Wring hair out as much as possible and put it in a loose ponytail, then wrap that into a bun.
4. Put a grocery store bag (it probably won't all fit in a plastic shower cap) and sit under the dry for 20 minutes (or however long you usually DC).
5. Rinse.
6. Get back under the dryer for 10 minutes just so that it's not dripping wet.
7. Sponge (using Robin's method) on another leave-in (Eqyss Avocado Mist or Rehydrant)
8. Apply my homemade red palm cream to any exposed hairs. Usually the roots and over the top to get any little hair sticking out of the braids).
9. Every couple days, melt some more moisturizer, put it in an empty squirt bottle and saturate my braids.

yay!!! thanks so much for the replies....i knew i could count on y'all...im on my way to the shower to get my ACVing on right now...:lachen:
