Do I pre poo if I'm doing a protein treatment?

I still do my prepoo when I'm doing a protein treatment. I basically follow my normal routine - it's just like I'm adding an additional step (the protein) before my DC. HTH

NO, don't pre poo before a protein treatment. You want the protein molecules to bond directly to your hair strands. By pre pooing you are creating a barrier between your hair and the protein treatment.

Just simply follow the directions on the back of the hair protein bottle.

The rationale to not pre-poo makes sense. I just finished my 2-step APHOGEE and did think the same so I skipped the pre-poo, shampooed with NEXXUS then hard'APHOGEEd', now the moisture balance, next deep moisture {1st. time CAPILO HONEY/MILK} for about an hour.

Well I prepoo before deep conditioning pretty much every single time... Vev, it really depends on what type of pre-poo you're doing.

Most of the time, my pre-poo is my protein treatment. I actually use mayonnaise from the fridge most of the time. After keeping that in my hair for an hour, I shampoo and use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards. My hair is strong as a rope.

Now if you are using an oil for your pre-poo, I guess you can deep condition afterwards... I wouldn't worry about what other people are doing-- if your hair likes it... keep doing it.

If I'm doing a major protein treatment I actually clarify before so the protein has NO barrier. So I would say no, to prepoo, but like everyone else said it depends on what your doing.

I think that she was referring to an Ahpogee Protein treatment and not a deep conditioning treatment.

I believe it is fine to pre poo before a deep conditioning

But, not before an ahpogee.

If you do it's like you are defeating the purpose of a protein treatment.
Why soften your hair strands just to toughen and strengthen it up again.

The PH Balance Moisturizer takes care of the remoisturizng step after the protein treatment.
