Yes, I'm so excited in the difference in my hair that I have to post two threads! I just wanted everyone to know where I came from. There aren't even the worst pictures. It took me 2 years just to get to this point, so if I can do it, ANYONE can! Well...here they are!

Well I'll be the first to say, your hair came a lonnnng way, and I'm so glad you posted the comparison pics because your progress is truly an inspiration. What is/was your regime that helped you achieve this thickness and length?

=========

Very pretty and healthy hair... Congrats...
I love your hair...

Thanks ladies! Well, the first thing I did was go from relaxing every 6 weeks to every 12-16 weeks. I also transitioned to texlaxed, I co-wash every few days, I was patient...and the biggest secret.....I LEFT IT ALONE! I wore a bun EVERY DAY, and I'm glad I did! Don't sleep on K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Sista!) and protective styling, because it made ALL the difference for me! That and texlaxing! There are more details in my fotki on the About Me page. I copied and pasted it here:

My hair type is 4a and 4b. I relax every 12 - 15 weeks (depends on the holiday that's coming up, lol) with Optimum lye, and I have finally completely transitioned to texlaxed and I'm loving it! The texture is so cool and wrinkly when it's wet! Lol, oh and not to mention the added benefits of thickness and less breakage!

I have revamped my regimen. I co wash twice a week with Organix Vanilla condictioner (smells delicious and is an EXCELLENT detangler for my texlaxed hair!). I shampoo whenever I feel like it (usually every 10-14 days) with Sunsilk black shine to keep my hair dark without using a lot of color (cheaper too). I still use a mix of coconut oil and Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil, but I'm switching back to pure coconut oil and I've also added Redken Extreme Antisnap. I use this sparingly for protein after some co washes instead of doing protein treatments.

After washing, I airdry in a ponytail, put Fantasia Aloe gel (ONLY use gel when I'm 10+weeks post), LIGHTLY brush, tie down with a scarf, and in the morning I bun with a spongey bun, or just tie it up in a ponytail with the ends tucked under. No uniformity in my products, huh? But it works for me! lol

I don't have time to give myself real protein and deep conditioning treatments (full time graduate student, full time job, and a life!), so I work with the anti-snap and cowashes. It's been working so far...

Your hair is really gorgeous! I tried all the things that you did but they didn't work for me. I guess bunning everyday and texlaxing work best for people with thick hair. The crinkly texture of texlaxed hair is causing my hair to snap. I will be going back to relaxing as straight as I can without being bone straight. Also, loosely bunning with a satin scrunchie or a cotton holder soaked with oil has caused my hair to break off and thin out in the area where I twist my hair up or bun it. I recently cut again for the umpteenth time in the last year so I hope to get it healthy if nothing else. Again congrats on your progress and your beautiful thick hair. You thick haired girls are very blessed!:yep:
