Is there anyone here who has a cheap (inexpensive) flat iron who is happy with it. If so what brand is it and where did you get it from?

Now before folks comes in saying that the expensive flat iron is best, I understand that but my pocketbook doesn't know it and the one I have doesn't have temp control so I really need a new one.

TIA

I'm relaxed and I use a $14 Conair ceramic flatiron from Walmart.
Now that I've somewhat gotten better with my flat-ironing skills I'm not worried about getting a more expensive one at the moment though I've had more impressive results with it.
And I had a friend who had this jacked up plain ole Gold 'n Hot that was on its last leg but she continued to use it. She was like a goddess with a flat iron, her hair always looked good and she used to hook me up witht that cheap thing.

The thing about it is, even a "cheap" flat iron will run you about 40 bucks at Sally's and if you shop around for a bargain (ebay, etc) you can get a better one for about the same of a tiny bit more. I sold a chi and fhi on the exchange forum for 40 bucks each. Matter of fact the chi is still for sale bc Ive had several ppl say they were going to buy it but never did. I might just keep it and use it for my roots between relaxers. I dont flat iron very often and prefer rollersets bc they give more body.

Thanks ladies,

Right now I am looking at around $20.00 - $ 30.00 because I really need one with temp control Sally has a sale for this Friday, Sat, Sunday for their gentric Chi for $ 49.00 but right now that one is too much.

I though of ebay but by the time I pay shipping I will still be paying the same price. I will figure out something.

I will check out WAlmart Wednesday when I go there.

Go to Sally's, if you dont like it you can always take it back. I have the titanium jilbere 1 1/2 and I love it. I also have a conair 1in but I dont like it.

I bought mine from Big Lots and it is grand. It's a 1.5 inch flat iron with ceramic plates. It's made by conair (I think) and I only paid like 10 bucks for it. I love it because I can control the heat settings (1-20) and it doesn't stick or get dirty. I've had it for 3+ years and it's fabulous. I don't flat iron often so I couldn't justify spending alot of money for something that's going to sit under my sink or in the closet for most of the time.

big lots is a great idea...Im pretty sure I saw those there too.

I found my $100 Corioliss on eBay for $30 and that thing is awesome! People kept trying to borrow it, so I ordered them one, too. But if you wanna go cheaper, that black and yellow Conair from Wally World is decent.

I was not hip to flat-irons until I joined the board. When I purchased my first one, I got it from target for $26. It was great!

It is a Revlon Perfect Heat Ceramic flat-iron.

It really works well, but did not last as long as my higher end irons. The ceramic chipped after about 6 or 7 months. I noticed that it was getting hotter around that time, as well. I ended up picking up another one from Target for the same price and starting over - again i was very happy with it.

So I think the cheaper irons are fine, I just like that my higher end ones go that extra mile for me.

HTH

I have a cheap Gold n Hot flat iron...I think it costs about 20 bucks and I love it. I only need to turn it up to 5 (it goes to 15) to get my hair straight. I love it.

I still love my 1" Andis flat iron that I got from wal mart. It was around $15. Since I've moved on, I gave it to my mom and she loves it as well.

I know a few beauticians have curlmasters cerami flatirons. I'm not sure how much they usually are, be my sister had one for about $30.

I have had my conair for several years and I only use it every so often, but it is great. I have a pic in my fotki with after pics after flat ironing with it. Walmart, cheap and good.

I also have the cheap black and yellow Conair flat iron from Walmart. It gets the job done, but i recently purchased a Corioliss on Ebay for $25 and I'm in love with it!!! I didn't need a new flat iron because my Conair was workin fine but after seeing the Corioliss for such a cheap price I decided to treat myself to it.

I have a cheap flat iron and it gets the job done. It's a ceramic Revlon flat iron. I got it from Target for $29.99. It gets pretty hot. When I was relaxed I had a cheap $15 ceramic Conair one that got the job done. But I gave it to my mom because it didn't get hot enough for my weaves. That's why I bought the Revlon one. She still uses the Conair one on her hair and it does fine though.

Also when my hairdresser does my hair at the salon he uses a cheap ceramic one too. He uses whatever the salon uses. It's not a Chi, Sedu or Maxiglide. It was some off brand flat iron but it got my hair straight. Straighter than I ever could.

I have ceramic Gold N Hot! I love them. The only reason I bought them is because my old regular Gold N Hot flat irons broke and I loved them! I paid about $21 for the ceramics.

I have the Titanium Jilbire flat iron in 1 inch and I love it. Got it from Sally's earlier in the year for likke $32.99.

Thanks ladies,

I do intend to get a higher end flat iron at some point but right now I just cant but at the same time I want something that will work for my hair. I will check out Walmart and see and also Sally's.

Well, I really do think you should be able to find a really good one without spending a lot of money.

Like some other's have said, try Ebay, too.

Just be sure you get one with a temp control. :)

I have a Conair Infiniti from Ebay for $10.

It's the ceramic/tourmaline w/ temp control.

Works like a charm!!! I LOVE IT!!!
